Get the Oscars Look: Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Amy Adams with Laura Mercier!

Affiliate Link Press Samples

I just love watching the Oscars! Not only because I am a complete movie-buff, but also because I absolutely love seeing the glitz and glam of Hollywood. The dresses, the jewelry, the hair styles, and the makeup...it is just so fun seeing these celebs in all their splendor. Yes, it does make me wish that I had a team of stylists and makeup artists on hand, lol! They sure are lucky!

I have two looks to share today: The first one is Rosie Huntington-Whiteley's makeup look for the Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2014 by Monika Blunder for Laura Mercier. The second is Amy Adam's makeup look for the Academy Awards by Stephen Sollitto. I am a fan of both of these ladies! I mean, who doesn't want to look like Rosie, lol, and I just love Amy's movies! :)

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley: Vanity Fair Oscar Party 2014:
Look by Monika Blunder for Laura Mercier

Monika wanted to keep Rosie's makeup "fresh" and wanted to create an effortless Parisian chic-inspired look.

Here is how Monika created the look and the products she used:

FLAWLESS FACE:
  • First Monika prepped the skin with Laura Mercier Oil Free Primer, ($33).
  • Then, using her fingers, she applied Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide (launching Fall 2014) all over her face.
  • She used Laura Mercier Camouflage Powder Brush, ($28) to apply Laura Mercier Seecret Camouflage, ($33)  – covering any of her skin’s imperfections.
  • Blunder blended Laura Mercier Secret Concealer #2, ($23) under Huntington-Whiteley’s eyes with a Laura Mercier Finishing Eye Brush, ($32).
  • To ensure her makeup stayed in place all night, she applied Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in Translucent, ($35).
  • Using Laura Mercier Bronzer Brush, ($45) she applied Laura Mercier Matte Radiance Baked Powder #3, ($36).
  • Next, she applied Laura Mercier Shimmer Bloc in Golden Mosaic, ($40) to add a beeautiful glow to her skin.
EYES:
  • First, Blunder applied Laura Mercier Eye Basics in Buff, ($25) onto Huntington-Whiteley’s eyelids.
  • Next, using the Laura Mercier All Over Eye Colour Brush, ($30), she applied Laura Mercier Sateen Eye Colour in Baroque, ($23) onto her eyelids.
  • She added definition to her eyes using Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Café au Lait, ($23).
  • Then she lined her Huntington-Whiteley’s eyes using Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Stormy Grey, ($20) in an outward motion to create a cat eye. She used the Laura Mercier Smudge Brush, ($24) to soften the line.
  • To intensify the smoky-eye effect, Blunder applied Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Cocoa, ($26) with the Laura Mercier Pony Tail Brush, ($29).
  • Using a clean Laura Mercier Pony Tail Brush, ($29), she applied Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Ballet Pink, ($24) on the inner corner of her eye and eyelid.
  • Next, Blunder used the Laura Mercier Eye Crease Travel Brush, ($29) to apply Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Café au Lait, ($23) along the lower lashline.
  • After curling Huntington-Whiteley’s eyelashes with an eyelash curler, she applied generous coats of Laura Mercier Long Lash Mascara, ($24).
  • Finally, she groomed her brows using the Laura Mercier Brow Grooming Brush, ($10) and added extra definition using Laura Mercier Eye Brow Pencil in Ash Blonde, ($22).
LIPS:

Amy Adams 86th Annual Academy Awards (Nominee, Actress in a Leading Role, American Hustle):
Makeup by Stephen Sollitto

Amy's look was destined to be in the spotlight with her Oscar nomination. While I haven't seen American Hustle yet (can't wait to!), she was nominated for her portrayal of the character Sydney Prosser. Stephen Sollitto wanted a very sophisticated look for Amy. Amy wore sapphire blue Gucci gown and Stephen was inspired by the color.

Here is how Stephen Sollitto created Amy's look:

SKINCARE PREP
  • Sollitto prepared Adams’ skin using RéVive Moisturizing Renewal Cream ($195). He stated, “I always moisturize with this product. This is the line I use on myself every day. Prepping the skin is just as important as the makeup you use.”
FOUNDATION
  • Sollitto applied Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide (NEW  - Coming Fall 2014) to create a flawless complexion.  He noted, “This foundation is simple to apply with a wet sponge or your fingers. It's long wear, oil free and lightweight. In the end it gives you a matte finish so you don't have to dust your face with loose powder, it's built in.”
EYES
  • Sollitto applied Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Terracotta ($24) to Adams’ lids and contrasted the look by applying Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Black Karat ($24) under the star’s bottom lashes.
  • To keep Adam’s eyes looking ”bright,” Sollitto dotted his “ideal champagne shade,” Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Sugar Frost ($26) to the inner corners of Adams’ eyes.
  • He applied Nars Eye Paint Liner in Tatar ($25) along the star’s upper lash line to make them “pop.”
  • To finish, he applied Dior Black Out Mascara ($25) to Adams’ lashes.
CHEEKS
LIPS
  • Sollitto noted that he wanted to achieve a lip look that was “pretty, a little bit rosy and glossy.” He used Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour in Cozy ($25) which he described as “having the perfect punch I was looking for.” He then layered Tom Ford Beauty Ultra Shine Lip Gloss in Rose Crush ($45) over it “for a bit of glamour to match the day.”
What do you think of these Oscars night makeup looks? I think that both looks are feminine and beautiful! Did you watch the Academy Awards? What was your favorite look of the night?

"Get the Look" Met Ball: Claire Danes and Anne Hathaway

 Affiliate Link Press Sample

Don't you just love looking at the Beauty and Fashion looks from the Met Ball? This seems to be the most creative of all celebrity events! Claire Danes and Anne Hathaway are two of my favorite actresses. So, I am excited to be able to share these "Get the Look" tips from the experts at Laura Mercier!!!

Anne Hathaway:
Look by Adam Breuchaud for Laura Mercier

Breuchaud gave a subtle nod to the event’s punk theme by creating a bold, “electric blue” smoky eye to complement Anne Hathaway’s flawless, porcelain skin.

FLAWLESS FACE:
A flawless, “clean” face was the perfect canvas for the look
Breuchaud first applied
Laura Mercier Foundation Primer ($32), to give Hathaway’s skin an “even, lasting finish.”
Then, he used a damp sponge to apply
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in Porcelain ($43) to even out her skin tone and give the skin an “amazingly sheer veil of color.”
Lastly, he lightly dusted on
Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder ($22) to set the Tinted Moisturizer and ensure the skin kept its “dewy finish” throughout the night.

EYES:
Breuchaud went with a “bold smoky” eye to pay homage to the “punk” theme
First, Breuchaud mixed
Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colour in Orchid ($24) with Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Deep Night ($23).
In order to deepen the look, he applied
Laura Mercier Crème Eye Liner in Noir ($22) to her lash line and blended the eye liner throughout the corner of her eye using the Laura Mercier Corner Eye Colour Brush ($25).
Breuchaud added the final touch of glamour by applying multiple coats of
Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara in Black ($24) to the top and bottom lashes.

LIPS:
Fresh, natural lips complemented the dramatic eye
Breuchaud applied
Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Pink Blush ($26), which he described as a “beautiful soft pink” to Hathaway’s lips

Claire Danes:
Look by Matin Maulawizada for Laura Mercier

Makeup artist Matin Maulawizada drew inspiration from Danes’ “beautifully textured long black dress.” The dress was “elegant, but had a very modern twist,” which he wanted the makeup look to reflect.  He was also inspired by the “punk” theme of the evening, stating, “I wanted to bring in inspiration from the punk era and make it into a beautiful version fit for the red carpet.”

EYES:
Black-rimmed eyes with a pop of pink
First, Maulawizada applied
Laura Mercier Tightline Cake Eye Liner in Black Ebony ($23) in between Danes’ lashes and then lined them using Laura Mercier Caviar Eye Liner in Black ($22) to achieve the “black rimmed” effect.  To keep the shape more “punk,” he followed her natural rim line.

Next, he applied Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Black Plum ($23) all over the eyelid to give it a “smoky” feel. He then applied Laura Mercier Baked Eye Colour in Rubellite ($23) to give Danes’ an “early 80’s pop of color.”

Maulawizada added the final touch of glamour by applying multiple coats of Laura Mercier Waterproof Mascara in Black ($20) to the top and bottom lashes.

FLAWLESS FACE:
Sun-kissed skin

First, Maulawizada applied Laura Mercier Repair Eye Serum ($80) underneath the eyes and on the cheekbones and then applied Laura Mercier Mega Moisturizer Crème SPF 15 in Normal/Combination Skin ($50) all over the face.  Next, he massaged the face using Laura Mercier Foundation Primer ($32) (this happens to be Danes’ favorite part of the make application process!).

He next applied Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 in Nude ($43) and followed with Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer Crème Compact SPF 20 in Nude ($45) for added coverage.

Using the Bronzer Veil from the Laura Mercier Bonne Mine Healthy Glow for Face & Cheeks Crème Colour Palette ($48), he contoured her cheeks and blended the color underneath Danes’ chin to even out her “sun-kissed” skin from the weekend.

Next, he used Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-3 ($30) to conceal any small imperfections.
Maulawizada then applied Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Rosebud ($24) to the apples of Danes’ cheeks.

Lastly, he lightly dusted Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder in Translucent ($35) to set her makeup, ensuring she looked flawless all night long.

LIPS:
Soft Lips
Maulawizada applied Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Pink Blush ($26) to Danes’ lips.

What beautiful looks! I can't wait to experiment and recreate these!!! :) I am especially excited to try the Lipstick in Pink Blush that both Anne and Claire wore. Such a pretty shade!!!

Get the Winning Look with Laura Mercier: Project Runway All-Stars Finale!

I am very excited to share the last great look from the finale of Lifetime’s Proje
ct Runway All-Stars! Can you believe that another season of Project Runway All-Stars has come to a close? What a great season! What a great finale!!!

Just in case you are behind on watching your DVR (like I often am), I am not going to mention who the winner was in this post (just in case!). I don't want to spoil the surprise for anyone! However, I will feature the winning look...so, it might give you a "hint" as to who won. Just keep that in mind! Like I said, I don't want to spoil the suspense or surprise for any of you. :)

I really love all of the top final designers and would have been happy with any of them winning. This season all of the contestants just seemed to be so nice! I always like it when they get along and you can see that friendships have truely formed and deepened between the designers.

The finale featured host, supermodel Carolyn Murphy, alongside series judges Isaac Mizrahi, Georgina Chapman and mentor Joanna Coles, new Editor-in-Chief of Cosmopolitan. Liv Tyler and Margherita Missoni served as this week’s guest judges.

Get the Look: Soft Beachy Waves with a Cortex Clipless Iron

I love the look of soft waves. You know, that "Victoria's Secret" long wavy hair look? Well, I am thrilled that I have found a very easy way to create it with a clipless curling iron! The best part? These waves last 2+ days! So, once I create this style, I can easily wear it for two days.

The Tool: The Cortex 4-Piece Clipless Curling Iron:
This clipless iron is great! It has 4 interchangeable and detachable curl barrels for you to customize your curl: .5 inch, .75 inch, 1.25 inch, and 1.5 inch. Want a tighter curl? Go with the smaller barrel. Want a looser wave? Go with the largest one. I love this iron! Having multiple options for curl tightness is so nice! You are really getting 4 irons in one with this Cortex iron. This iron is a space saver as well as a great value! It heats up really fast and creates gorgeous curls and waves. Love it!

For this look, I used a medium sized barrel: the 1.25 inch. The Cortex 4-piece Clipless Iron set retails for $79.99 at SFRbeauty.

Here is my step-by-step tutorial for getting this look:
For my how-to steps and more details about the iron I used, please keep reading!

Get the Winning Look: Project Runway All-Stars

Credit: Laura Mercier

It is time for another "Get the Winning Look" feature for Project Runway All Stars! As ya'll know, I am kinda obsessed with Project Runway. I mean, fashion, hair, makeup, *and* drama? I am hooked!

This season of Runway All-Stars has a slight departure from the usual Project Runway regular season lineup with supermodel Carolyn Murphy as host, alongside All Star series judges Isaac Mizrahi, Georgina Chapman, and mentor Joanna Coles (love her!!! Her style is absolutely flawless!), the new Editor-in-Chief of Cosmopolitan. This week's guest judge was famous fashion designer Diane von Furstenberg.

For this week's challenge “Green Dress for the Red Carpet,” the designers had to create a red carpet look using fabric from AirDye fabrics (fabrics made using virtually no water or power! Cool!). As usual, the Laura Mercier makeup featured in this episode was amazing! I will not give away this week's winner because, if you are like me, you are usually a few days behind on your DVR TV Viewing. :)

Flawless Face:

·         Prep skin by applying Laura Mercier Foundation Primer - Radiance ($32) to the entire face.

·         Then blend Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20 ($43) all over the skin.

·         Conceal any problem areas with Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage ($30).

Eyes:

·         Prep eyelids with Laura Mercier Eye Canvas ($26).

·         Apply Laura Mercier Metallic Crème Eye Colour in Platinum ($22) to the eyelids.

·         Next, dust Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Ginger ($22) across the eyelids.

·         Then, apply Laura Mercier Matte Eye Colour in Black Plum ($22) to the edge of the eyelids,   blending inwards toward the crease and outer eye.

·         Line the top of the eye with Laura Mercier Graphic Liquid Eye Liner in Black ($24).

·         Apply Laura Mercier Eye Pencil in Black Extreme ($20) to the lower lash line.

·         Add the final touch using Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara ($24).

Cheeks:

·         Using the Laura Mercier Angled Cheek Contour Brush ($45), contour the cheeks by applying Laura Mercier Bronzing Duo in Coral Bronze ($32).

Lips:

·         To complete the look, apply Laura Mercier Crème Lip Colour in Tangerine ($24).

Another treat for you? Here is an exclusive behind-the-scenes video featuring Georgina Chapman:

As usual, I loved this week's episode! What do you all think? Who is your favorite designer?

Thanks for reading! Hope you are having a great weekend!!!

Get the Winning Look from Project Runway All Stars with Laura Mercier!

My Project Runway All Stars "Get the Winning Look" Blog Series continues with this featured look from this week's episode!

As ya'll know from my previous "Get the Winning Look" post, I am a huge Project Runway fan. This season looks like it is going to be so good!!! While I love the show for the fabulous fashion, amazing makeup and styling, and intense designer challenges, I must admit that the drama is pretty good too! Although, I really do like it best when everyone gets along like some past seasons.

If you haven't caught this season of Project Runway All Stars yet, be sure to tune in! The All-Stars version of the show features a new host, supermodel Carolyn Murphy, alongside series judges Isaac Mizrahi, Georgina Chapman, and mentor Joanna Coles (former Editor-in-Chief of Marie Claire). Sure, the show isn't the same without Heidi, Nina, Michael, and Tim, but this All Start Judge lineup is pretty amazing! This week's guest judges were fashion designers Jeffrey Costello and Robert Tagliapietra.

Partial Teaser/Spoiler Alert:
If you have not watched this week's episode, proceed with caution as the next page of this post contains a photo of the winning makeup look (but I do not reveal the winning designer's name). So, it is more of a teaser than a true spoiler. Either way, I don't want to ruin the suspense for anyone.

If you are interested in achieving this winning look with Laura Mercier cosmetics (and seeing a teaser photo of the winning model's makeup), then keep reading!

Do Your Brows Need Help? Frame Your Face with Billion Dollar Brows

Nothing finishes your look better than well groomed brows. I always hear from makeup artists that brows "frame your face" and that you should never neglect them. I have even heard that if you only have a few minutes to do your makeup, that brows are a top priority. Even though I know this, I must admit, I often neglect filling mine in.

I constantly struggle with my brows. They are thick and unruly. Yet, they have sparse patches as well. While my hair is blond and highlighted, my brows are dark. So, I don't need to draw or fill in my brows to make them visible. I need to groom them and pluck them to keep them from getting too thick and crazy. Honestly, if I gave up plucking, I would probably have a unibrow! Thank God for tweezers!!!

There are a few key things to think about with brow grooming:
  • Shape: Brows should be plucked (waxed, threaded, etc) to create an ideal shape. This shape is different for everyone depending on the topography of your face.
  • Trim: If your brow hairs are long, they might need to be trimmed.
  • Color/Fill-in: If you have very light brows, you might need to draw them. If you have sparse patches, you should fill them in.
  • Set: To hold brows in place, you can set them with a clear or colored gel or a setting wax.
Whew! That is quite a task list for brows. No wonder mine often get neglected. It sounds like a lot of work! Well, no worries! Billion Dollar Brows is to the rescue. They have quite a variety of kits and products to help you sculpt and shape your brows into the ideal shape.

I tried out a variety of items from this line and am happy to say that I have been very pleased with the improvements in my brows! To check out my reviews for Billion Dollar Brow's Brow Buddy Shaping Kit, Brow Powder, and Brow Brush, please keep reading!

Project Runway All Stars: New Season with Laura Mercier! Winning Look "How To"

Is anyone else excited about the new season of Project Runway "All Stars"? I sure am! Project Runway is one of my very favorite shows on tv!!! The talent, the fashion, the makeup, the competition, and the drama...so fun to watch! The "All Stars" incarnation of the show is great because you get to see some of the fan's favorite designers from previous seasons compete again.

This "All Stars" Season has a new host: supermodel Carolyn Murphy. The judges for this season are Isaac Mizrahi, Georgina Chapman (how gorgeous is she!), and mentor Joanna Coles (former Editor-in-Chief of Marie Claire). While Project Runway is just not the same without fashion-wise Tim Gunn, Joanna Coles is amazing too. She has seriously the most fabulous style ever and is so pretty and sophisticated. The special guests this week were Rachel Roy and Mondo Guerra. I just LOVE Mondo!!!

Rather than Project Runway's usual L'Oreal sponsor, this "All Stars" season is working with Laura Mercier for makeup! As ya'll know, I am a HUGE Laura Mericer fan. So, I will be doing weekly "Get the Look" posts featuring the winning makeup looks from the show! :)

This week the contestants had to create two mini collections using attitude as a theme. I won't give away the winner just in case you haven't watched yet! I know I am always a few days behind on my DVR. :)

Here is how you can get the winning Makeup look!

Flawless Face:

·         Prep the face with Laura Mercier Tone Perfecting Creme ($95).

·         Then apply Laura Mercier Oil-Free Suprême Foundation ($43).

·         Camouflage dark circles using Laura Mercier Secret Concealer ($22).

Eyes:

·         Apply Laura Mercier Eye Canvas ($26) on the eyelid to create an even canvas.

·         Next, brush  Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Colour in Gilded Rosegold ($24) on the eyelid and the inner corner.

·         Then apply Laura Mercier Sateen Shadow in Burnished ($22) on the edge, inner eye and under the eye.

·         To make the eyes pop, use Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Brown Copper ($20) on the top lash line.

·         Add the final touch using Laura Mercier Faux Lash Mascara ($24).

Cheeks:

·         Lightly dust Laura Mercier Bronzing Pressed Powder in Sun Bronze on the t-zone and cheekbones of the face.

Lips:

·         To complete the look, apply Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour in Portofino Red ($26).

Throughout the season, be on the lookout for more “get the looks” from the show, as well as special news! It is so fun to feature looks from one of my favorite shows and makeup brands! :)

How do you like this season so far? Have you picked which designer is your favorite of the group???

Get the Look! Pistol Annie's CMT Hair

With the CMT’s last night—some of Country's greatest looked all glammed out!

Even if you are not a country music fan, you can appreciate the fashion, makeup, and hair looks from the evening! No, I am actually not a country music fan (and I even live in the South!). But, I tend to watch awards shows just for the fashion inspiration! :)

Celebrity stylist, Sherri Jessee shares her tips on how you can "get the look" of the CMT’s!

Nothing says Country like sexy hair! The highlight of last night’s CMT awards was a performance by Pistol Annie. This red-hot trio is comprised of Ashley Monroe, Anagleena Presley, and Miranda Lambert.

It’s easy to get the look by following these simple steps shared by celebrity stylist, Sherri Jessee:

  • Emulsify an egg-sized amount of RUSK Being Sexy Mousse together with a dollop of RUSK Being Sexy Cream to create the perfect bodifying cocktail and distribute evenly through damp hair.
  • Use the super-powerful Volare blow-dryer to blast dry your hair and create volume.
  • Lightly spray the top and bottom of 1” sections with  RUSK Being Sexy Hairspray to provide heat protection and long lasting hold before curling on a 1 ¼” ceramic curling iron.
  • Pin each curl and allow to cool (now’s a great time to get your face on!)
  • For tighter curl as seen on Ashley, use only your fingers to lightly separate.
  • For Angaleena's glamour waves, brush through with a soft bristle brush.
  • Emulate Miranda’s style by sweeping over to one side and secure with a few bobby pins.
