My favorite item so far is the Kandee Johnson (love her!!!) POP! GLAM Mermaid Moisture Hair Mask. Omggg it smells so good. The best part is that I feel like when I use this, that I am pretty much guarenteed a good hair day. This makes my hair shiny and soft with a lot of body. I find that it is very easy to style after using this. It has sparkles in it which I feel give hair some extra oomph. Plus, it smells amazing!!!

Makeup Wars: Favorite Hair Products!

It is time for another Makeup Wars! This time we are talking about our favorite Hair Products! 

Hair products are near and dear to my heart. I put a lot of time and effort into my hair. So, I want to use products that bring out the best in my hair. I will fully admit that I probably spend more than I need to on highlights and cuts. So, I want to take care of my investment, lol! I am not satisified with "ok" hair. I want shiny and pretty hair everyday. If my hair looks good, I feel better about myself overall! Before diving into my favorite hair products, lets talk a bit about my hair type.

My Hair:

I have heavily highlighted, long, and thick hair. My hair is coarse in texture. Rarely is a product "too rich" for me. In fact, I struggle to find products that are moisturizing and soothing enough for my hair. Because of my highlights, my hair is on the dry and damaged side. However, I have found that using really great products combats the damage and makes my hair look healthy.

My Favorite Products: 

These favorites have been collected over the years. Some are very old favorites and some of these are new favorites. Either way, these are all heavy hitters in my weekly hair routine. So, let's dive right in.

From this Collection, my Husband and I tried out the Detangling Leave-In Conditioner and the Reworkable Hold Paste. 

The PARLOR Hair Collection by Jeff Chastain:

• Detangling Leave In Conditioner: ($24.00): This product is the perfect detangler combined with thermal protection in the form of a leave-in conditioner. I am a huge fan of using leave-in conditioners! I spray this generously in my hair after I wash, condition, and towel dry my long hair. This product has such an amazing fresh scent! It helps me comb out my hair with ease and leaves my hair shiny and managable. Plus, I love that it provides thermal protection as well. I always blow dry my hair with a round brush and I feel that this product leaves my hair nicely protected!

• Reworkable Hold Paste: ($24.00): This product combines the softness and flexibility of a styling cream with the definition of a paste. My husband has super thick and wavy hair. This Reworkable Hold Paste gives his waves definition and hold without being overly thick or sticky. My Husband likes it because it is all he needs to use for his hair. He just applies a bit after washing and conditioning and works it through his hair.

Both my Husband and myself are already fans of this new Birchbox-launched PARLOR Hair Collection! I can't wait to explore this line further!!! I would especially like to try the Sea Salt Spray and the Smoothing Blowout Spray! Has anyone tried these? I would love to hear what you think!

Here is how I use it: I just mist in the air and then "walk" myself through the mist head-first (tilting my head where I want the shine to "hit"). This product gives beautiful shine and protection without weighing my hair down nor making it look or feel "greasy". Plus, it is so easy to use! Such a nice last-step in my hair routine. :)

• Joico Power Whip Whipped Foam ($16.99): A concentrated, whipped styling foam that creates maximum density and incredible volume that lasts even in high humidity. This creamy, luxurious feeling foam will lock your style in place for up to 72 hours. How to use: Shake can well and dispense into hands. Rub together and distribute evenly through clean, damp hair. Style as desired. I am always looking for ways to both add volume to my style as well as to increase hold. This product does both! I apply it after washing and towel drying my hair. I use about one handful of this product. I focus the product application to my root area. Then I follow up with drying my hair with a round brush. This product gives my hair bounce, hold, volume, and some shine. I am super happy with my results!

It is always fun to explore a new (to me) hair line! Rock Your Hair is a professional hair care line dedicated to bringing you big and bold hair. Rock Your Hair is the latest project from "Big Sexy Hair" creator and celebrity hair stylist Michael O'Rourke. You probably haven't missed seeing the eye-grabbing bedazzled hot pink packaging at your local Ulta? Well, don't let the somewhat tacky packing dissuade you! The products inside are fabulous!!!

My Hair:

Before diving into my review, let me give you some background on my hair type and condition. I have very long and thick highlighted hair. It is fine yet thick. It is very dry and even somewhat damaged from highlighting and heat styling. Typically, I need products that are extremely moisturizing and are formulated for color treated or damaged hair. One of my biggest hair complaints, besides dryness is that my hair is incredibly hard to comb out when it is wet and it tangles throughout the day.

Here is what I tried out: Rock Your Hair Big Hair Rocks Shampoo and Conditioner, Rock Your Hair Leave-In Conditioner, Rock Your Hair Fix It Up Leave In Treatment, Rock Your Hair Get a Lift Volumizing Spray, and Rock Your Hair Spray It Hard Hairspray. Dry Your Hair In Less Time? It Factor's new "Simply It" Blowdry Lotion

Who wants to spend a lot of time drying their hair? Not me! My hair is long and thick and it seems to take forever to dry. Not to mention, I am almost always in a hurry when I am getting ready. Shaving a few minutes off of my get ready routine is always a priority!

Hmm...Taffy in your hair? It sounds odd, right? Just go ahead and discard the notion that this product is like melted Taffy candy in your hair! Surface's Taffy Whip is a unique styling product! Oh, and the scent...it is amazing!!!

The first thing that I noticed about this product was the amazing scent!!! It is a super-sweet candy (fruity?) scent that just makes me want to eat the product (LOL, I promise that I refrain from *actually* eating the product). I can't totally place the scent. But, it reminds me of something! Surface states (see above) that the scent is from lavender and vanilla bean. But, honestly, I am not smelling the lavender. Either way, it smells amazing. The scent is strong and lasting too. When this product is out on the counter in the bathroom, literally the whole bathroom smells like Taffy Whip!

It’s easy to get the look by following these simple steps shared by celebrity stylist, Sherri Jessee:

• Emulsify an egg-sized amount of RUSK Being Sexy Mousse together with a dollop of RUSK Being Sexy Cream to create the perfect bodifying cocktail and distribute evenly through damp hair.

• Use the super-powerful Volare blow-dryer to blast dry your hair and create volume.

• Lightly spray the top and bottom of 1” sections with  RUSK Being Sexy Hairspray to provide heat protection and long lasting hold before curling on a 1 ¼” ceramic curling iron.

• Pin each curl and allow to cool (now’s a great time to get your face on!)

• For tighter curl as seen on Ashley, use only your fingers to lightly separate.

High Oversized Bun- To get this look not only should you have the bun almost directly on top of your head like a crown, you should make it messy as well. Imagine what a very loose oversized bun would look like when you woke up after going to sleep with your hair styled.
