"Winter Survival" GLOSSYBOX Box Opening: The Man Repeller Box!

Are you over Winter yet? I sure am!!! During the Holidays, cold weather is charming. Well, the Holidays are long gone and Winter just seems to be dragging on! The cold weather makes my hair and skin so dry! Plus, I just miss the time out doors in the sunshine (well protected with SPF of course!).

GLOSSYBOX packs their Man Repeller Collaboration box with items to perk you up in the midst of the cold Winter! This review is rolling out a bit on the later side this month because GLOSSYBOX was absolutely slammed with orders for this box. I can see why, this box is amazing and quite possibly the BEST GLOSSYBOX that I have gotten to date. Seriously! I pretty much swooned when I opened it.

What is the Man Repeller, say you? It is the groundbreaking Fashion blog from writer/blogger Leandra Medine. One of the most influential blogs out there, the Man Repeller has redefined the genre with fashion features that "men just might not get"! Man Repelling has certainly entered the fashion vernacular as well as her coined "arm party" term for stacking bracelets. Kudos to Leandra for her amazing blog and voice!!! Plus, she edited a spectacular GLOSSYBOX this month!

The Scoop on GLOSSBOX:
I am sure that most of you know the drill. So, here it is in a nutshell: For $21 a month, a GLOSSYBOX subscription gets you a high end luxury beauty sample box. What makes this box stand out is that you *always* get at least 1 full size sampled. Plus, the rest of the samples are almost always deluxe size. You pay more for this subscription; but, you get more. Not to mention, the boxes are always beautifully wrapped and come with a glossy mini-magazine. GLOSSYBOXes are a decadent treat! They literally feel like getting a little gift of beauty every month!

Note: While I am no longer a paid GLOSSYBOX subscriber, I am happy to review press samples of GLOSSYBOXES. I am a fan of these boxes. However, I personally decided to cancel my own subscription to put the money towards my own MAC Matters challenge to build up my core collection of MAC products. To find out more about that, read here

October 2012 GLOSSYBOX: Box Opening!

It is GLOSSYBOX time again! Yes, it is time for another GLOSSYBOX box opening! October is flying by. It seems like I just reviewed last month's GLOSSYBOX. This month's box opening post is going to be a little bit different ya'll...

Sharing my thoughts: I might cancel my subscription: Here is why:
As usual, I am completely pleased with my GLOSSYBOX. However, I wanted to discuss my thoughts with you guys on if I should continue subscribing to GLOSSYBOX.

While I really do love my GLOSSYBOXes, I am considering canceling my subscription. I am just in a place where I have so many samples that I am using and need to use and just do not "need" to subscribe to so many sample box services. Since GLOSSYBOX is the most expensive one that I subscribe to, I might cancel it. I pay $21 per month for GLOSSYBOX. $21 a month is actually a really good deal considering how many great samples and full sized products I get in my GLOSSYBOXES. Usually the value of the items inside far exceeds the cost of the actual box by a landslide. However, when you look at the cost over time, it really adds up! We are talking $252 annually. When I look at that price I think that I would rather take that $252 and use that to pay for cosmetics that I pick out and choose myself. Sure there are plenty of items that I use and love from GLOSSYBOX...but, I am not sure if there are $252 worth of products that I love.

As a beauty blogger, I am constantly testing out skincare. GLOSSYBOX does a great job of packing a variety of items into a GLOSSBOX: hair, skincare, makeup, and body products. However, often the skincare items do not get used right away as I am already in the midst of skincare testing.

The other reason that I might cancel is that out of all of my beauty sample subscriptions, GLOSSYBOX seems to have the fewest rewards for membership. With Birchbox, you earn points for product feedback and membership referrals. You can use those points towards product discounts in the Birchbox online store. I love that system! The feedback for products surveys are super quick and easy. So, you feel like you are constantly earning points. I love Julep's system too! Granted they have re-vamped their Julep rewards with the "Jules" program. So, I am not sure how that will translate. But, so far, I have been very happy with Julep's boxes and use the Julep polishes and products all the time. So, I am totally getting my money's worth with each Julep Maven box that I get.

With GLOSSYBOX you can earn GLOSSYDOTS for surveys and the GLOSSYDOTS can accumulate over time to be applied towards a free GLOSSYBOX. What I am finding is that the surveys are quite long to complete and it takes forever for your points to add up! Plus, there is no GLOSSYBOX "store" on site. Also, while you can invite friends to GLOSSYBOX over email. There is no system in place to allow for referral credits through an web link.

My other thought is that if I cancel (and I am quite sure that I will), I want to take that $21 per month that I saved and use it to purchase makeup items that I pick out myself. Actually, I am considering an entire year-long blog series about building a basic core makeup collection with $20 per month. I am curious. Just for the sake of experiement to try this! I think it would be a much better use of my $21 per month!

My last reason that I might (and probably will) cancel is that I am on a tight budget! If I am going to spend $21 per month on something, I would rather pick the items out myself! Sure I pay $10 per month for Birchbox, that is an easy price to justify for samples. I pay $20 per month for Julep but the great thing with that is that I actually do choose which Julep box that I get...and if I don't like the box offerings (which has actually never happened), I could always choose to skip that month. So, my point again is that if I am going to spend that $20, I would rather spend it on something that I am picking out myself. I just made the transition to stay-at-home Mommy this year and I am still adjusting to the lack of a paycheck! ;)

So, in summary, I will likely cancel before the end of the month. However, if and when I do cancel, it might not be forever! If I find that I am really "missing" my GLOSSYBOXES or if my budget loosens up, I will likely subscribe again!

If you are curious about beauty sample subscriptions: try GLOSSYBOX!
With all of that said, if you do have $21 extra dollars to spend a month, I think that GLOSSYBOX really is a fabulous deal! If I was still working and getting a paycheck, there is no question that I would continue my subscription! If you are looking for a high-end/luxury beauty box subscription, I think that GLOSSYBOX is really the way to go. You get a lovely box filled with amazing samples! Plus, you feel like you are getting such a nice present for yourself.

If you are a nail polish lover, I totally recommend the Julep Maven program. If you are looking to spend less, but still get a great beauty sample box, then I totally recommend going with Birchbox!

So, lets jump into this month's GLOSSYBOX shall we? To find out what I got this month, keep reading after the jump!

September 2012 GLOSSYBOX: Box Opening!

It is GLOSSYBOX Box Opening time again! The much anticipated September 2012 GLOSSYBOX has finally arrived!

The arrival of Fall always inspires me to shake-up my beauty routine. The Fall weather inspires new clothes and the rotation of my closet. Not only do I rotate my wardrobe and makeup shades, but also the needs of my skin and hair changes as well with the arrival of cooler weather.

In honor of the new season, this box has a "Fall Forward" theme. From the Fall fashion runways to the season's latest beauty trends, GLOSSYBOX offers a forward look into new products, formulas, and technologies, and colors of the season. This month's box features breakthrough beauty products and forward thinking essentials.

What is GLOSSYBOX?
GLOSSYBOX is another "by-the-month" Beauty Box Subscription. For $21.00 per month, you get a a lovely box of 5 deluxe beauty samples (One of which will be a full-sized item!). This beauty sample subscription is more than double the price of Birchbox (Birchbox continues to be my favorite beauty sample subscription in the $10 per month category). In the $20.00 beauty box category, Julep Maven is worth checking out too if you love nail polish.

GLOSSYBOX's referral and rewards points
When you give GLOSSYBOX feedback on your GLOSSYBOX samples or when you invite friends to GLOSSYBOX through email, you earn "Glossydots". There are no referral links available just yet. So, email is really your only way to earn points through people signing up. What do you do with these Glossydots? Well, when you collect 1,000 of them you can apply them towards getting a free Glossybox.

GLOSSYBOX July 2012: Box Opening!!!

Hello beauties! Are you ready for another GLOSSYBOX box opening? I sure am!!! As ya'll know, I eagerly anticipate the arrival of my beloved GLOSSYBOX every month. What goodies will this month bring? I can't wait to rip inside this package and find out! :)

"What is GLOSSYBOX" you say?
GLOSSYBOX is a luxury beauty sample box subscription. You pay $21.00 per month and get a beautifully presented and wrapped box of 5 deluxe beauty samples (Which includes one full-sized item!). This beauty sample subscription is more than double the price of Birchbox. Birchbox continues to be my favorite beauty sample subscription at $10 per month. Also, Birchbox is the beauty subscription that I compare all other subscriptions to (my "Gold Standard" of beauty boxes!).

I am new to GLOSSYBOX and GLOSSYBOX is also new to the USA (but has been wildly popular across the globe for quite awhile! Thanks for finally coming to the US!). So, I am still getting a "feel" for this subscription. Is it worth the higher price tag? Sure, Julep is also $20.00 per month. But, the difference here is that Julep offers all full-sized products in their Julep Maven Boxes and you also get to choose which box you get (Julep has never disappointed me!). So far, I have been extremely pleased with GLOSSYBOX! Both their special edition Blogger GLOSSYBOX and May/June's box were fabulous! So, I must admit, my hopes are really high for this July GLOSSYBOX!!!

Glossydots: GLOSSYBOX's referral and rewards system
You can give GLOSSYBOX feedback on your GLOSSYBOX sample items to earn "Glossydots". You get 20 Glossydots for each feedback item. Currently, GLOSSYBOX members can invite friends to join through via email only. If you get your friend to sign up, you earn 200 glossy dots. There are no referral links available just yet. So, email is really your only way to earn points through people signing up. What do you do with said Glossydots? When you collect 1,000 of them you can apply them towards getting a free Glossybox.

So, I know ya'll are dying to know...what is in this month's box??? Lets open it up together and find out!!!

May 2012 GLOSSYBOX!!! Box Opening

Wow! Ya'll! What an amazing GLOSSYBOX! Ya'll may remember that I had the chance to review GLOSSYBOX's special Blogger Inaugural USA box a few weeks ago? That was a special one-time box sent to bloggers to celebrate the launch of GLOSSYBOX in the USA. That box was fabulous! So, of course I subscribed! The GLOSSYBOX featured in this post is my first of the monthly subscription boxes.

What is GLOSSYBOX?
GLOSSYBOX is the newest beauty sample subscription service to come to the USA. GLOSSYBOX is actually a world leader in the monthly beauty sample box market. GLOSSYBOX has been a phenomenal success across the globe and is available in 19 countries! Now it is finally in the USA! Like other beauty sample services, you pay a monthly fee and get a box of 5 deluxe beauty samples (one of which they promise will be full-sized). The difference? GLOSSYBOX is on the expensive side at $21.00 per month. Yes, that is more than double the price of Birchbox (which is still my favorite beauty sample subscription at $10 per month!). For the $21.00 price, I am expecting this box to really deliver!

I really can't compare the GLOSSYBOX directly to Birchbox since GLOSSYBOX is more than double the price. Lets just say that I have higher expectations for the quality and content of the box items in GLOSSYBOX with the high price. The Bottom Line: I need to get my money's worth. But, that is not why I subscribe to these services! I want the *experience* of opening a beautiful and luxurious box filled with unique, special, and high end beauty treats. Some beauty sample services deliver this spot-on, like Birchbox. Some do not (cough, MyGlam). I want the pretty packaging! I want the trill of opening a beautiful box filled with surprises. It is like getting a present; and, lol, I love presents! :)
What is inside the box? Is it worth the cost? Keep reading to find out!

The Newest Beauty Sample Box: GLOSSYBOX hits the US! Box Opening

I have such exciting news for all of you US-based sample box lovers...(insert drum roll here please)...GLOSSYBOX will launch soon in the USA! Yes, that's right, the much-loved and immensely popular international beauty box is just about to open subscriptions for the USA version of the box!

I am so excited that I get to preview this box for you dear readers! I know that many of you are fellow beauty-sample box subscription junkies like me. ;) Do we really need another sample box? Ha-ha! You know it!

I am going to go ahead and tell ya'll that this particular GLOSSYBOX Preview Box is pretty much the best sample box that I have ever opened. But, take note: This preview box is not necessarily like the boxes you will get if you subscribe to Glossybox. From my understanding, this preview box was made to be "extra special" because it is the inaugural box. So, keep that in mind while reading. This review is for this inaugural preview box only as I really do not know how the contents will look for the monthly boxes. I can not fully evaluate this subscription service at this time as I can only speak to the contents of this box specifically. You guys know how it is and how I fee: I feel that you need to give any subscription service *at least* 3 months (or 3 boxes) to get a good "feel" for the value for the price and your general satisfaction with the service. So, just keep all of that in mind as you read my review. I can talk about this fabulous box as well as the presentation and packaging (which I am sure is similar to all Glossyboxes). But only time will tell if I like the monthly sample boxes. So, stay tuned as I will subscribe when those subscriptions open up!

As soon as the box arrived and I took it out of my mailbox, I know it would be good! How did I know? This box was *heavy*. Heavy could only mean one thing, right? That it was just loaded with products!

So, how do I like the box? What are the details for subscribing?
