SKIN PREP 

I always like to begin makeup application with a fresh clean face. I start by cleansing and hydrating Kerry’s skin with the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleansing Towelettes and applying Hydro Boost Water Gel to boost hydration, lock in moisture, and nourish skin. This is a great gel cream that can be used as a primer before makeup application. It hydrates while creating a smooth canvas to achieve flawless skin. I apply it all over the face and then proceed to moisturizing the lips with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatment, and leave it on until lipstick application. I blot the lip with tissue paper and apply the desired lip shade. 

MAKEUP APPLICATION 

Once the Hydro Boost Water Gel is absorbed on the skin, I begin makeup application. My first makeup application step is to highlight and conceal imperfections wherever needed with Hydro Boost Hydrating Concealer in Deep, which is the shade that compliments Kerry's skin tone. I apply it under the eye area to conceal any darkness and highlight certain areas of the face where I want light to reflect. These areas are:  under eye, nose bridge, center chin, and center of forehead. To create an even skin tone on Kerry, I used Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup in Cocoa. This foundation is one of my favorites, it truly makes the skin glow, gives great coverage, it's long lasting, and creates a healthy complexion without having to use any additional enhancers on the skin. It’s the perfect match to Kerry’s skin tone, and makes her skin look flawless all day long. I apply it all over her face and blend with a round brush in a circular motion for a smoother and more natural application. Right after the foundation, I always like to apply the blush on the apple of the cheeks and blend upward towards the temples.

For this look, I used Neutrogena Essential Cheek Palette by Kerry Washington in Captivating. My inspiration for the eyes was Bridget Bardot’s winged cat eye with a modern graphic edge and a twist of Rock & Roll.  To create the shape for the eye, I used Neutrogena Precision Liquid Eyeliner and outlined it first, and then filled it in with the same eyeliner. I then lined the water rim with Neutrogena Intense Gel Eyeliner and went over the areas that needed more coverage. To enhance and intensify the eye, I glued Ardell’s 3D Faux Mink Lashes 859 on top lashes, and applied a few coats of the amazing Neutrogena Hydro Boost Plumping Mascara for thickness and volume to top and bottom lashes.  

I accentuated Kerry’s eyebrows with Neutrogena Nourishing Brow Pencil in Brown. I always finish the look with the lipstick, and the shade for today’s look is lip liner layered with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Lip Shine in Radiant Rose.

Season 2 Episode 12 Beauty Look

Makeup By: Katie Jane Hughs, Celebrity Makeup Artist

Skin: 

To capture Ashley's lit-from-within glow, Katie Jane Huges used Revlon PhotoReady Candid Natural Finish Anti-Pollution Foundation in Medium Beige and Revlon PhotoReady Candid Antioxidant Concealer in Biscuit by buffing them into her skin with the Revlon Highlighter Brush. 

Eyes:

Huges used 7 shades of eyeshadow to conjure this shimmery, softly diffused wash of sultry purple. She started with ColorStay Not Just Nudes Shadow Palette in Romantic Nudes, mixing the mauve and nude brown shades together on the brush, swirling them on the lid and under Ashley's eyes. The lavender shadows from the palette were then mixed and swirled from the lash line up to the brow bone, extending them a little past the corner of her eyes. To add the incandesent glow, Huges took the purple shades from the PhotoReady Eye Contour Kit in Watercolors and using the same diffusion technique, applied them to the inner corners and center of the lids, then used the highlighter shade under the brow bone, and blended all the colors to lift the eyes up. Several coats of Revlon Volumizing Mascara in Black on false lashes added drama. 

Cheeks:

Ashley's cheeks were softly shaped using the PhotoReady Instant Cheek Make in Sweet Coral, sweeping the cheek color over the apples of her cheeks and the highlighter on the highpoints of the face and down the nose. To subtly contour, Huges swired the tiniest bit of powder from the ColorStay Brow Kit in Soft Brown underneath her cheekbones. She even enhanced the natural beuaty mark on Ashley's cheek with the ColorStay Brow Pencil in Dark Brown. 

Brows:

To define Ashley's arches, Huges mixed together the Dark Brown and the Soft Black shades of ColorStay Brow Kit, using short dash-like strokes to get the right balance of tones.

I can't wait to re-create this beautiful look! Ashley looks gorgeous! :)

Are you all loving this season of American Beauty Star? I know that I am! :) International supermodel and Revlon spokesperson Ashley Graham is amazing. Her message of body confidence is so inspiring. Here is her beauty breakdown from the recent American Beauty Star episode straight from Revlon:

Makeup By: Katie Jane Huges, Celebrity Makeup Artist 

Inspiration: Sexy with a funky edge to play off the sparkle of Ashley's dimante dress

Skin: Revlon PhotoReady Candid Natural Finish Anti-Pollution Foundation in Medium Beige was applied to the skin with the Revlon Highlighting Brush which is small enough to fit into all the curves of the fasce for a smooth finish. Revlon PhotoReady Candid Antioxidant Concealer in Biscuit was dabbed at the inner and outer corners of her eyes and in the hallows, then blended with the same brush. 

Eyes: Revlon ColorStay Creme Eye Shadow in Earl Gray was swept all over her lids with the Revlon All Over Shadow Brush concentrating it at the inner corners, fading it out along the lids and toward Ashley's brows to really emphasize the silver n the V shape of her eye. To add a sultry, smoky haze, Hughes layered Revlo ColorStay Eye Liner in BlackBrown with ColorStay Creme EyeShadow in Tuxedo all along the top and bottom lids, intensifying the color at the outer corners as a way to break up all the silver. Lashes were curled with the Revlon Salon Pro Lash Curler before applying Revlon Volumazing Mascara. One Swarovski crystal at the inner corner of each eye was added with a dab of lash glue for extra sparkle. 

Brows: To blance the shimmery eyes, brows stayed soft with Revlon ColroStay Brow Pencil in Soft Brown applied in feathery storkes, starting about a half centimeter in from the beginning of the brow. 

Cheeks: For a whisper-soft flush, Hughes used 2 shades of Revlon Insta Blush first swirling Nude Kiss on Ashley's cheeks, and then Berry Kiss in the center of the apples of her cheeks, blending to diffuse the two shades. The champagne shade from the Revlon PhotoReady Highlighting Palette in Rose Glow wsa then dusted on the high points of Ashley's face and along the hairline near the forehead to elongate the face. 

Lips: To keep the lips plush, Hughes used the same Revlon ColorStay Brow Pencil in Soft Brown and traced it along the outer corners of her mouth to contour them, blending out the edges with the Revlon Blending Brush. With her finger, she pressed on a pinky-nude lip color from the new lip kit Ashley created for Revlon (dropping in the Spring!) in the center of her mouth and gently blended it out along the rest of her lips. 

What do you all think of this look? I think Ashley looks stunning. I totally want to re-create this look with Revlon (and even with the Swarovski crystal-what a great idea for a night out!!!).

The light and deep blue shades were blended on the lid, extending past the crease for intense, notice-me color. The soft beige shade was applied just under the brows to highlight, and the black shade was smudged along the lash line for definition. Several coats of Revlon Volumazing™ Mascara in Black finished the look.

LIPS: Revlon Matte Balm in Fierce was used to give lips a burst of matte color in a natural warm brown hue.

Get Rachel's gorgeous look with Revlon! Here is the beauty breakdown from Revlon's Lisa Aharon:

Skin:

After prepping Rachel's skin, I buffed and blended Revlon Photoready Candid Natural Finish Anti-Pollution Foundation Porcelain from the center of the face outward. Revlon PhotoReady Candid Antioxidant Concealer in Banana worked seemlessly under the eyes and in the spots that needed a bit more coverage. Both are lightweight with a natural finish that I love. To finish the complexion, I lightly dusted Revlon PhotoReady Candid Setting Powder keeping it mostly in the center of the face and forehead. A cool rose tone is a favorite for Rachel's porcelain skin, so I used Revlon Powder Blush in the shade Rosy Rendevous. I started on the apples of the cheeks and blended slightly under the cheek bone towards the hairline. I then patted Revlon PhotoReady Insta-Fix Highlighting Stick in Pink Light to make the high point of the cheekbones radiate slightly. 

Eyes:

ColorStay Brow Creator in Soft Brown helped me to define, shape, and slightly fill in Rachel's brows. Filling in and sharpening the brow helps to frame the eyes and guide where the shadow is placed next. Since the suit was clean and white, we decided to have fun with the color on the eyes. I used Revlon ColorStay Creme Eyeshadow in Merlot as the base layer for a bold effect. We kept the shape a bit 6-s to compliment the high ponytail. To add dimension and brightness, I added the light purple shade of the Revlon Colorstay Looks Book Palette in Insider. I used a blend of the light purple and pink shade from the same palette for the inner corner of the eye as well. Revlon ColorStay Creme Gel Eyeliner in Black helped to intensify the lash line. A few coats of Revlon Volumazing Mascara added both lenght and thickness to Rachel's aleady beautiful lashes. It's long lasting so I can rely on it not to flake or smudge on a red carpet. 

Lips:

It's been very dry in LA. So, I've been reaching for extra moisture whenever I can. Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick has a rich amount of pigment but also delivers the hydration I needed for Rachel's lips. After trying a few lighter shades, we landed on Bare Affair to complete her mod makeup look. 

I am totally going to recreate this look! My skin is the same super fair shade as Rachel. So, I think these products would work really well for me. Plus, I am super excited about the new PhotoReady Candid Collection!

Neutrogena products are staples in my personal routine and I notice that Kerry used some of my favorites for her look! I especially love Neutrogena HydroBoost Water Gel!!! I use it literally every day underneath my daily SPF in the mornings and underneath my treatment products in the evenings. There is no question that HydroBoost boosts my skin's hydration. Amazing stuff, really!

CAROLA ON HER INSPIRATION FOR KERRY’S MET BALL MAKEUP:
The inspiration for Kerry’s Met Ball look was based on the Met Gala 2018 theme: “Heavenly Bodies” Fashion and the Catholic Imagination.

It brought me back to the Renaissance period and I wanted the makeup to embody that era. I felt so inspired, and it’s just one of those events where you can go in a more avant-garde direction.  I really wanted to play around with earthy tones mixed with more brilliant ones like copper leaf. It felt extraordinarily fresh and something that we wouldn’t be able to do on every red carpet.

CAROLA ON KERRY’S SKIN PREP:
I always prep Kerry’s skin with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel. It quenches the skin with hydration which is one of the main components in achieving Kerry’s glowing skin. And again, tonight is hands down a skin celebration night so you have to have the RIGHT skincare products in order to give that ultra beam gleam.  For the cheeks, I used Kerry’s new Neutrogena Essential Cheek Palette, available at ULTA.  I used the shade “Elegant” as the highlight along her cheekbones and “Grateful” as the bronzer.

CAROLA ON KERRY’S EYES:
To lay a really solid base for the eyes, I first applied Kerry’s new Neutrogena Essential Eye Palette from ULTA in the shade “Focused” all over the eye. I used this shade in particular because I wanted it to be a neutral and as close as Kerry’s natural shade. Since the inspiration was based on the Renaissance and paintings, that color is key for tying those portions into Kerry’s look.

CAROLA ON KERRY’S LIPS:
I didn’t want the makeup to be all same tone, so I went with a plum-stained lip - something subtle, that felt earthy, but enough to add dimension to the makeup. I lined and blotted her lips and then applied Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Lip Shine in Soft Mulberry and blotted until it became a stain.
