I will admit, I was a bit perplexed when I first heard about this dryer...I mean, a dryer with no handle? So different! However, as I started to think about it, I have had many salon experiences where my various hairdressers have held the dryer by the barrel when trying to get my hair dried super quick. You just get so much more control over the dryer and the air flow when you hold the barrel. So, now it makes sense! Why have a handle! The Cutest Diffuser Hair Dryer: Tigi Bed Head Curlipops!

Every once in awhile I come across an item that is just too cute to not mention! That is why I am excited to tell you guys about Tigi Bed Head's adorable Curlipops Tourmaline Ionic Diffuser Dryer. I mean, girls...it is pink and purple! ;) 

No, I do not have curly hair that I need to diffuse. However, I do have hair that can caputure a bit of a wave when coaxed. This dryer is great for that! If I want to go with the beachy sexy look, I just spray in a salt-spray and then just scrunch up my hair while it air dries. If I need to get out the door, I will finish up my scrunching and drying with this Curlipops Diffuser dryer. 

I have a few other great uses for the Curlipops dryer! I do intensive protein hair treatments about 2x every 6-8 weeks. If you have not read about my Aphogee hair treatment routine, be sure to check out that post here. During the Aphogee treatment, I have to sit and dry the treatment into my hair for about 45 minutes. This process is *so much easier* with the curlipops dryer with the diffused heat (rather than a strong air flow from a typical dryer). So, I am thrilled!!! 

Also, I must mention, my daughter loves it when I dry her hair with the Curlipops rather than a regular dryer! She is only 4 and has never really loved the hair drying experience. Well, the more gentle flow of the Curlipops dryer is much more tolerable for her.

I am such a fan of CHI hair tools! This CHI Glamfetti Iron is so quick and easy to use. I almost always seem to be in a hurry to get ready. With 2 kids under 4, I am limited in my "getting ready" time. Usually, I have to get up before everyone else and rush to get ready before anyone wakes up. Easy and Quick Volume for your Hair with VOLOOM!

I am so excited to tell you guys about an *ah-ma-zing* new hair tool for creating super-easy volume: the VOLOOM! 

I will admit, before trying the VOLOOM, I was skeptical. I have tried countless options over the years to try to give volume to my long straight and pretty much flat hair. From bump-style molds to pin in my hair, to teasing combs, to spray in products...nothing really gave me that volume that I craved (and none of these solutions were as easy as the VOLOOM). 

Enter the VOLOOM...Quite simply, the VOLOOM is a clamp-style iron that creates a waffle type pattern in your hair. This waffle pattern gives your hair amazing and lasting "lift". It is an absolute no-brainer to use. It is quick and easy and the volume lasts for days. For real! 

How to Use:

The VOLOOM is so easy to use! You want to start using the VOLOOM right below your part. Section off a small amount of hair (about an inch thick) about an inch *below* your part line. You want to go below your part because you need a smooth section of hair to hide the waffle pattern the VOLOOM makes. Then, just clamp the iron into your hair for a few seconds about a centimeter away from your scalp and release. Be sure not to get too close to your scalp as the iron is HOT. Repeat this process a few times going further down on your head. I tend to do about 4-5 clampings on each side of my head. If you want or need more volume, do more. You can also clamp around the crown area of your head or really wherever your style needs that volume. Just be sure there is smooth hair on top to cover that waffle pattern. That is it! It is really that easy. It honestly does not add that much time to your getting ready routine. It only takes a couple minutes to do this whole process.

I am amazed at the gorgeous volume the VOLOOM gives my hair. My Before/After pictures really don't even do it justice! The volume is noticeable and fabulous. I have never gotten such great results with a volume product. Even my husband noticed the extra volume in my hair the morning after I used this device for the first time. I know that Summer is often the time when people go "heat free" and natural. Sure, I like to do that too. However, most days, I just need my hot tools to leave my hair looking smooth and frizz free. To reduce heat and styling damage (and save myself time), I just tend to go longer between washing/styling my hair: at least 3 days in-between washings. This certainly reduces your heat exposure. Plus, with good hot tools, my style tends to last and after a few days, it goes up in a ponytail or bun.

One of my favorite beauty sites, SFRbeauty, has a new name and a new website design: Introducing Glam Alley!!! It is time for another Makeup War! This time the Makeup Wars bloggers are sharing their favorite tools for hair styling!

What are the Makeup Wars?
Before sharing my choices for hair tools, let me tell you a little bit about Makeup Wars in general. The Makeup Wars Bloggers are a group of top beauty bloggers that publish coordinated bi-weekly posts. The Makeup Wars bloggers collectively pick topics to blog about (e.g., Top 10 Products, Beauty Pampering, etc). Then, we publish our posts at precisely the same time and link up through the graphic links and thumbnails at the top and bottom of our posts. It is always a big surprise to scroll through the links from the group to see what everyone picked! 

In my hair care routine, I rarely stray from my basic styling tools. Once I find something that works, I stick with it! With that said, I do like to discover new tools. If I read about a fabulous tool that someone else is using with my same hair length and type, I tend to try it out. Then, if I like that tool, I will add it to my routine or replace another tool with it.

My Hair:
My hair is super long and somewhat hard to manage. It is highlighted. So, it is dry and it tangles very easily. Plus, it is very thick and somewhat coarse. It is primarily straight. However, ever since my first pregnancy a couple years ago, I have some random wavy patches. Typically, I wash it every other day. When I wash it, I let it air dry about 50%. Then I blow dry with a paddle brush and then a large round brush to work the waves out. On occasion, I curl it with a wand or use a straightener to get it super sleek. Also, I like to use wet-sets to create no-heat curls. However, I will not include these no-heat tools in this post. If you all would like, I could do a no-heat series next? Let me know! :)

Hana Professional Titanium Flat Iron 1.5": Professional Quality at Home

As the weather gets hotter and more humid, my hair gets "bigger" and more frizzy. In times like these, I need a good flat iron to rescue my bad hair days and to smooth out the frizz. Yes, I have straight hair, but even straight hair need some smoothing sometimes! 

I don't heat style my hair every day. I try to limit heat exposure to my hair. But, when I do need to heat style (lets face it...nothing works better than heat for styling!), I make sure to heat style with high quality appliances and to do so using heat protectants on my hair.
