Glowing and Natural Skin with Neutrogena's Visibly Even BB Cream

Neutrogena's NEW Visibly Even BB Cream:

I have been all about face products lately! My overall look in the Summer is light makeup and a natural look. So, my focus really is on great skin. BB Creams are, in my opinion, the easiest way to achieve this. A good BB Cream, like this one from Neutrogena, plus a light dusting of powder is all I need to get naturally pretty glowing skin! 

I tried out Neutrogena's Visibly Even BB Cream in the shade fair to light. I am somewhat surprised to find out that this product comes in only 2 shades. For reference, my skin is extremely fair and almost porcelain. Sometimes even the lightest shades of foundation in any given line are too dark for me. So, when I first saw this product coming out of the tube, I thought it would be too dark for me. Well, somehow, when I work it into my skin, it magically works! So, I am thrilled that the "fair to light" shade works for me! It is possible that my skin is just a hint darker than usual as it is the end of Summer and despite my sunscreen application and shade-loving ways, I probably do have a hint of color from the sun. So, don't let the limited shade selection dissuade you, the product is sheer enough that the colors are forgiving.

The product itself is quite scented. While I would prefer the BB Cream to be unscented, this fresh and somewhat sunscreen-like scent does not bother me. While this BB Cream is thick in consistency, it is light in feel on the skin. This sheer formula gives light coverage. However, the optical diffusers in the formula really do work well to blur imperfections and give you a slight glow. Plus, the formula contains an SPF of 30 (love that!) and "essential soy" to reduce blotchiness and discolorations.

How I Use:

I use this product after my morning skincare routine and as the first step in my makeup routine. I, personally, wear my daily moisturizer with sunscreen under this. So, I consider this BB Cream to be a boost to my regular sunscreen. Also, I feel that my combo skin needs more moisture than this BB Cream provides alone. I like to top this BB Cream with a light dusting of sheer powder. I think the finish is a bit too luminous for me without the addition of the powder. When I am finished setting this BB Cream, the overall result is beautiful skin! I just love wearing this product!!!

Overall, I like Neutrogena's Visibly Even BB Cream for it's skin perfecting and priming results. It really does blur discolorations on my skin and give me healthy and glowy skin. Plus, I think that the formula gives such a natural look!

The brushes that I love are used daily. Often, when I find a brush that I love, I use it for years and years. Some of the brushes in my collection have been going strong for 10+ years! I try out a LOT of brushes. Only the ones that really work best are added to my everyday routine.

Here are my current Top 10 Brushes:

• Urban Decay Good Karma Optical Blurring Brush: This foundation brush is amazing! The "optical blurring" transpires when you buff your foundation into your skin. It seamlessly blends the product across your skin and makes it become one with your skin. When used with the Naked Skin Foundation from Urban Decay (which I LOVE) it disperses the light reflecting pigments.

• Eco Tools Recycled Retractable Kabuki Brush: I love wearing powder foundation and this brush distributes it beautifully! Plus, it is retractable. So, it is perfect for your handbag or travel! Earth-friendly and cruelty-free :)

• Real Techniques by Sam & Nic Chapman Blush Brush: Real Techniques brushes are affordable and amazing quality! Plus, I love supporting YouTuber Makeup Artists Sam & Nic Chapman. Their makeup tutorials are fabulous!!! This brush is oversized and super soft.

• Laura Mercier Angled Eye Liner Brush: I literally just started using this brush and it is already a favorite! I love using this with my creme and gel liners. The angle of the brush really makes application easier. Plus, I love the ultra-fine the brush is. Specifically designed by Laura Mercier to work with the Creme Eye Liner, the brush uses high quality synthetic fibers in a narrow, exact point with a thin profile that creates the most precise looks. Angled ferrule allows you to reach up over the lashes to easily apply along the lash line.

• MAKE UP FOR EVER 130 Large Powder Brush: If you are looking for a super duper soft luxe powder brush...this is IT! I like using really big brushes for finishing powder application. I just lightly dust this brush over the powder of my choice and dust it across my face. The result is a super light dusting of powder. So quick and easy! Plus, I absolutely love the feel of this brush on my skin. Heavenly! 

• Eco Tools Bamboo Deluxe Concealer Brush: I use this every single day. It is perfect for under-eye concealer application. Plus it is super soft on my delicate eye area. Another love from Eco Tools! 

• Sigma e55 Eye Shading Brush: This brush is simply the perfect size for my eye lid and my brow bone area. It is my most used eye shadow brush by a landslide. Plus, I just love Sigma brushes. Amazing quality, fabulous assortment, and really great prices!

• Real Techniques Contour Brush from the Real techniques 4-pc. core collection makeup brush set: This whole set is fabulous. However, the real stand-out for me is the Contour Brush. It is my go-to brush for highlighter application. The size is absolutely perfect for highlighter placement on the upper cheekbone and over the brown and a dab on the chin. 

• MAC 266 Small Angle Brush: This is my favorite eye liner brush for applying powder eyeshadow wet (which is honestly my most used method for lining my eyes...it is just so natural). This brush has the perfect angle...plus, it is nice and thin for a natural looking line. I have had this brush for more than 10 years and it is still going strong!

• Sigma F25 Tapered Face Brush: This is the perfect blush for bronzer/contour application. The small tapered point places the color perfectly. Then you just press in and blend out. The soft fluffiness of the brush blends the product in beautifully. I always use this for bronzer. Every single time I apply!

I have another look to share with you all from the Teen Choice Awards! This time, makeup artist Francesca Giaimo share how to "Get the Look" for "Miss Glamorazzi"'s (Ingrid's) Teen Choice Awards makeup. If you don't know Ingrid, she is a YouTube beauty guru sensation. Her channel is perky and fun and full of video makeup tutorials, getting ready videos, DIY's, product favorites, fun YouTube tags, shopping hauls, etc! Definitely check her channel out! :) Her makeup look is naturally pretty and soft with a focus on flawless skin. Here are the details on how she got her pretty makeup look for the Teen Choice Awards:

Makeup Inspiration:
As soon as Ingrid showed me the two-piece Christian Siriano dress she would be wearing to the Teen Choice Awards, I knew exactly what look I wanted to create for her! I envisioned Ingrid in a feminine, fresh and modern makeup look by combining the softness of pink cheeks and lips with the boldness of fluttery lashes and strong brows.

Get the Look:

• To create a smooth and healthy looking complexion, I applied COVERGIRL Ready Set Gorgeous Foundation to Ingrid’s face in the shade Warm Beige 215 using a

• I then brightened up her under eye area with Yves Saint Laurent Touche Eclat 2.5 and covered any tiny spots with Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage in SC-4. 

• Using my fingers, I patted Kevyn Aucoin The Creamy Glow in Pravella onto the apples of her cheeks. I set everything by gently pressing COVERGIRL Ready Set Gorgeous Powder in Medium 215 into her forehead, nose and chin with a puff to insure a long lasting finish.

• I kept the eyes very simple by sweeping a soft wash of glimmer over the entire lid using COVERGIRL Bombshell Shine Shadow in Gold Goddess 320. This color perfectly complimented the pattern in her dress! I made sure to really highlight the inner corners and lower lash line to give Ingrid that “lit from within” look. 

• With the COVERGIRL Bombshell Intensity Liner in Pitch Black Passion 800, I tightly lined only her upper lids, keeping the pen as close to the lash roots as possible. 

• I then curled the lashes with a Shiseido Eyelash Curler and applied two generous coats of COVERGIRL Clump Crusher by LashBlast Mascara in Very Black 840 to both top and bottom lashes to create a beautiful, wide eyed look. 

• I love playing up Ingrid’s brows so I further enhanced and defined them using Kevyn Aucoin The Brow Pencil in Brunette. 

• I gave them a quick sweep of Anastasia Brow Gel to keep them in place. 

• Ingrid and I love to experiment with bold lip colors but agreed that we wanted to keep her pout soft and light for this look. I filled in her lips with NARS Velvet Matte Lip Pencil in Roman Holiday to give them a pretty, pink base and added COVERGIRL Colorlicious Lipgloss in Whipped Berry 700 on top for some gorgeous, light-catching shine. 

• After Ingrid got into her dress, I applied COVERGIRL truMAGIC Luminizer to her collarbones, décolletage and arms to create glowing, sun kissed skin - perfect for a summertime event! I tucked her gloss and the truMAGIC Skin Perfector in her evening bag for touch ups and she was out the door!

Where have primers been all of my life? lol! I know I am "late to the party" here, but I am just recently starting to get "into" primers. Sure, I have used them here and there in the past. At first I thought it would be too shimmery to wear all over under a foundation, but actually, it works! It really does perfect your skin and boost the "radiance" of your skin when you layer this product with foundation. It has a non-greasy feel and it sinks into your skin quickly. Plus, my foundation seems to wear longer over this. I absolutely love it! Plus, yes, you can use it as a highlighter, too. It is just beautiful!!!

I tried out the shade #01 in the Liquid Light. I like to use Japonesque's Liquid Light as a bronzing highlighter or as an additive to lotions for an all-over glow. I found this product to be a bit too colorful to use as an all-over face primer/makeup base. I prefer to strategically place the color. As a highlighter/bronzer or as mix-in, it is beautiful! When I use it on my face, I only use the tiniest trace amount to add some bronzy shimmer to key areas of my face. I love using this the most on the body! I just pump a little bit into my body lotion to give my skin a gorgeous bronzy shimmery/sparkly glow!

All three of these new skin-perfecting/priming products from Japonesque are fabulous additions to my makeup collection. I love each of them for their own unique reason. I seem to reach for the Velvet Touch and Radiance Primer the most, but do love all three!

I must admit, I am a complete fanatic for Bath & Body Products. I am always seeking out new scents to indulge in. L'Occitane has such a fabulous assortment of unique and beautiful scents and products for your bath and shower.

L'Occitane 'Rose et Reines':
To me, there is nothing more classic than a beautiful rose scent! L'Occitane's Rose et Reines Collection is a blend of a variety of roses with a hint of berry, bergamot, and blackcurrent.  The overall effect is classically feminine. I love this collection for an everyday daytime scent. Lovely!!! This is the type of scent I wear when I am going for a more sophisticated "ladies who lunch" type of vibe. This scent is very grown-up to me without being a "stuffy" rose scent (if that makes sense?).

L'Occitane 'Rose et Reines' Beautifying Body Milk:  
L'Occitane's Body Milk is a nice way to hydrate your skin while layering your scent. This body milk leaves my skin soft and silky and nicely scented! Not to mention, I adore the beautiful packaging. So classic and elegant.

I spray this on my neck, wrists, and back of knees (so that your walking movement will circulate your fragrance! Just learned this tip...and now I do that all the time). If you love Rose scents and are picking items from this collection, the Eau de Toilette is a must-have!

Here we go with another "Get the Look" post! This time, I found out the secrets behind getting Selena Gomez's hair look from the 2014 Teen Choice Awards! 

Nothing beats a sleek ponytail. When done right, the look can be polished and sophisticated. I will fully admit that I wear my long hair in a ponytail most days. So, I love reading tips on how to make that look more sleek and presentable! I think that Selena's hair looks fabulous here!

Celebrity stylist Lona Vigi shares how you can create Selena's look with John Frieda Hair products:

• To start, Vigi misted Selena's hair with an Evian atomizer in order to prep her hair and keep it in the cleanest condition.

• Next, she applied a dime sized amount of the John Frieda Frizz Ease Original Six Effects Serum into her hands, and rubbed them together before going into Selena's hair, starting at the roots and pulling all the way to the ends. "This serum is like a BB Cream for the hair," said Vigi. "It covers so many vital bases that you end up using multiple products for, instead you can cut all of that out of the equation and just have this one master product."

• In the front, Vigi sprayed John Frieda Frizz Ease Moisture Barrier Firm Hold Hairspray while the hair was still damp in order to keep all the little baby hairs around the frame of the face tamed down.

• Then, while blowing drying on a medium heat with the Harry Josh Pro Tools Dryer, Vigi sprayed the hair continuously to ensure the hair stayed back into the ponytail.

• Next Vigi clipped the hair up and took super small sections and went over them with a flat iron, getting as close to the scalp as possible.

• Vigi created a center part and then gathered Selena's hair by the nape of her neck to create the ponytail. Once it was secure, she patted John Frieda Frizz Ease Secret Weapon Touch-Up Creme into the ponytail so that it looked extra strong and shiny. "We wanted the ponytail to be the accessory to her look," said Vigi.

• As a final touch, Lona secured the ponytail with a long, black ribbon.

Shailene Woodley's Teen Choice Awards Makeup:

Its not just the awards and the fashion...I think that one of the best things about award shows is finding out what products were used on the celebrities to create their look! I am such a fan of the Divergent series. So, I was super excited to see Shailene's look! :)

Shailene Woodley was a big winner at the show: she picked up awards for Choice Movie Actress in an Action/Adventure for her role in Divergent (yay!!!) and Choice Movie Actress in a Drama, for her role in The Fault in our Stars. Celebrity makeup artist Roxy created Shailene Woodley's gorgeous look. So, lets take a peek behind the scenes to find out exactly what she did to leave Shailene looking so gorgeous. 

“We wanted to keep Shailene’s makeup clean and not competitive with her gorgeous and colorful Peter Pilotto dress,” said Roxy. “Using monochromatic colors on her eyes and cheeks, I defined her features to make them pop while not overwhelming her with color. Her soft plum rose lip – which we created using tarte’s LipSurgence™ matte lip tint in hope, was the perfect finishing touch to her ultra-feminine look.”

Get the Look: The Basics:

Shailene Woodley's Makeup for the Teen Choice Awards:

• Roxy began by spraying Caudalie's Beauty Elixir Spray all over Shailene's face, neck and décolletage to revive, sooth and hydrate her skin. She then prepped her skin further, applying tarte’s clean slate™ flawless 12-hr brightening primer with tarte’s the buffer™ airbrush finish bamboo foundation brush which helped spread the primer all over the face, evenly and fast.

• Roxy applied tarte’s Amazonian clay full coverage airbrush foundation in fair-light honey with tarte’s airbuki bamboo powder foundation brush all over the face in circular motions to melt the makeup into Shailene’s skin. “I started at the center of her face and blended out to her jawline until it was seamless,” said Roxy.“ 

• Since color was not a big part of this look, I wanted to do more with sculpting to bring out her beautiful features,” said Roxy.  She played up the definition on Shailene’s gorgeous cheek bones with tarte’s Amazonian clay matte waterproof bronzer in park ave princess™. For this look Roxy applied the bronzer right under Shailene’s cheek bones and softly at her temples. 

• For the eyes, Roxy started by applying tarte's clean slate™ 360º creaseless 12-hr smoothing eye primer. She wanted to sculpt the eyes in a monochromatic manner to keep it simple while still bringing out the best in Shailene’s gorgeous eyes. Roxy started by applying tarte’s Amazonian clay waterproof cream eyeshadow in shimmering bronze along the edges of her top and bottom lash lines. She diffused it softly with tarte's undercover lover™ bamboo concealer brush, which allowed her to blend it softly but keep the strength of the color intact. Roxy then applied some nude-taupe shadows in the outer corners of Shailene’s eyes from tarte’s rainforest after dark limited-edition colored clay eye & cheek palette. 

• On Shailene’s eyebrows Roxy used tarte’s colored clay tinted brow gel in medium brown to give them a little more structure than usual and keep them in place. “This brow gel is awesome because the brush is so tiny it makes detailing the brows naturally very easy,” said Roxy. 

• “Shailene loves to apply her own mascara and swiped on 2 coats of tarte’s gifted™ Amazonian clay smart mascara to finish the look to her eyes,” said Roxy. “This mascara added a bit more drama to her eyes by lengthening and curling her lashes perfectly.”

• On her lips Shailene applied tarte LipSurgence™ matte lip tint in hope straight from the pen. “This muted down-plum rose color was a wonderful finish to Shailene’s monochromatic look because it fit with in the color family of her eye shadow and cheeks, but added a bit of feminine softness to her over all look.”

With two kids in diapers (a 7 month old and a 2 year old), I am always going back and forth between a diaper bag and a purse. So, what is the best middle ground for me? A large handbag that I turn into a diaper bag or a "Mommy Bag"! Really, all it takes to turn a purse into a diaper bag is sticking in a diaper organizer and a changing pad. In my pre-kid life, I was all about my designer handbags. I am sure I will eventually go back to that. However, for a bag that also functions as a diaper bag, I am all about inexpensive synthetic bags that I don't mind getting a bit dirty. I mean, there will be spills from sippys and stray fruit snacks in my bag. So, lets be real, right?! ;) With a synthetic/inexpensive bag, there are just no worries...just wipe up your spills and all is good! Not to mention, I feel so much more chic carrying a cute and trendy large bag than a diaper bag. :)

The overall look of this Jupiter Eye Shadow Palette and kit is very neutral and wearable! Personally, these are the types of eye shadow shades that I really love to wear. For the eyshadows, you can go either very subtle and natural. Or you could do a heavier/smokier look. The eyeshadows have a lovely soft and buttery texture with fabulous pigmentation. You get a variety of finishes here too: from matte to satin and even high shimmer!

The Galaxy Lip Gloss is just too darn fun. I mean, ya'll, it lights up! While I never apply lipgloss in the dark, I still appreciate the fun factor here. I suppose it could be useful to have a light up lipgloss in the car or a club/dark bar at night. There is no question that someone would ask, "Where did you get that lipgloss"??? Light up feature aside, the gloss is a lovely semi-sheer light pink with irradecent sparkle. Really gorgeous! Plus, it pairs beautifully with the neutral shadows.

The Outer Space Precision Eye liner is a felt tip liner in a dark black. The tip is ultra fine and very easy to maneuver. The liner wears very well and lasts all day. Super easy application, too!
