November 2012 Birchbox: Box Opening!

It is Birchbox Box Opening time again!!! As always, I am excited to get my Birchbox!

Right around the time that the Birchboxes usually come out, the folks over at Birchbox were just getting back to normal after Super Storm Sandy hit NYC! I must say, in the midst of this disaster, I was amazed at what great communication I got from the Birchbox team regarding my usual subscription Birchbox and my Birchbox PR sample boxes. Way to go Birchbox team!!! While boxes were delayed a bit, they kept their lines of communication open. Well done!

Cutting back on my Beauty Sample Subscriptions: Who made the cut?
As many of ya'll know, I have recently cut back on my beauty sample subscriptions. So, to update you: I have cancelled GLOSSYBOX. I am continuing to subscribe to both Birchbox and Julep (and I plan to keep subscribing long term to both!). While I am not displeased with GLOSSYBOX, I just figured that I could put that $21.00 per month to better use. I mean, honestly, I did not "need" 3 beauty sample subscriptions. So, instead of GLOSSYBOX, I created a MAC Matters challenge for myself. I am going to take that same $21 per month and use it towards building a great basics collection from MAC! I am sure that ya'll are not surprised to hear that Birchbox made the cut. Birchbox continues to be one of the best beauty sample services around!

Birchbox is a monthly beauty sample subscription service. For $10 per month, you get a beautifully wrapped box full of 4-5 deluxe size (and the occasional full sized) luxury or boutique beauty products. It is a great way to discover new beauty brands and get out of a makeup/skincare/haircare rut! Plus, it feels as if you are unwrapping a little present! It is my monthly gift to myself and I just love it! I have subscribed for over a year and have just been so happy with the service and the items I have gotten in the boxes. Beyond the boxes being a great value, they are fun! I honestly have found some great new brands and some new favorite products through my Birchbox sample subscription.

October 2012 Goop Birchbox: Box Opening!

It is Birchbox time again ya'll! Yes, it is time for another one of my monthly Birchbox box openings.

Earlier this month, Birchbox sent out an email. Subscribers had the choice to either choose a regular October Birchbox or a special edition Goop Collaboration Birchbox. As much as I love the "regular" monthly boxes, I really can't resist an opportunity to get a special box!

Monthly Box Subscriptions:
There seem to be so many monthly box subscriptions out there now. It can be a bit overwhelming to choose! I have tried quite a few, weeded some out, and am happy with my small handful of monthly box subscriptions. So, I only subscribe now to the monthly box programs that I truely love: Birchbox, Julep, and GLOSSYBOX.

It is "Back-to-School" time with Birchbox!

There is a certain thrill to this time of year. The excitement of a new beginning and a change in the mark of time. As a new stay-at-home Mom, this is a first for me: The first time NOT going back to school in decades! That is right, I went straight from high school to college, and then college to grad school, then grad school to my first job as a Speech Therapist at a School. While not personally going "back to school", I still feel that certain "excitement" for this time of year! So, I think that this "Back-to-School Birchbox" theme is cute and timely.

June 2012 Birchbox: Box Opening!

Can you believe that it is time for my monthly Birchbox Box Opening post? Time just seems to be flying by these days! Summertime is one of my absolute favorite times of year. Long, warm, and sunny days filled with pool-time, dog walks, and now baby-activities too! Hectic schedules give way for thoughts of summer vacation planning and packing for the beach. Even if I can't get out of town, I mentally take a break. So that might mean just stopping by CVS to load up on celebrity gossip and beauty magazines for an afternoon of reading on the back porch under the ceiling fan with a big glass of lemonade!

Apparently the folks over at Birchbox are like-minded! The June box has a "Jet Set" theme. How perfect for this time of year and my general frame of mind! This month's box is packed with travel friendly items that you can put right in your carry on bag.

June 2011 Birchbox: Box Opening

Hey everyone! I am just now able to post my Monthly Birchbox Post as I was out of town (anniversary trip to Cancun!) when the box arrived. I must admit that it was fun to come home to my monthly "surprise"Birchbox full of goodies!

If you are not familiar with Birchbox, it is a monthly sample subscription of a gift box filled with 4-5 deluxe sized samples plus occasionally a "treat" or an "extra". The subscription is about $10/month and it includes the monthly Birchbox, access to the fabulous member's only Birchbox website, free shipping on full sized products included in the current month's box, and opportunities to earn Birchbox points for reviewing the products on the Birchbox website (accumulated points go towards discounts on purchases). 


I really enjoy my Birchbox subscription and look forward to these boxes around the 10th of every month. While some boxes have been better than others, overall I am super pleased with the Birchbox goodies! For me it all boils down to value. Am I getting a good deal? Is the value of the box greater than the $10 that I spent? Well, the good news is that the value of the box always exceeds the actual cost. Besides value, I just love that feel of getting a monthly "present" of beautifully wrapped surprise goodies! I have found some really great products through my Birchboxes!
