Now, ya'll know that I use Rx Retin-A. So, keep that in mind. However, I do not use Retin-A every night. I average about 4 nights a week. On off nights, I use facial masks, or regular moisturizers, or products containing retinol. So, I do use retinol products on my face. However, it is not all that I use. For other areas (neck, chest, backs of hands), Retinol products are my go-to for anti-aging. So, I have been testing out this full assortment every/other night on my neck/chest/hands and a few nights a week on my face. Overall, I am loving the combined use of these products. They are gentle enough for my sensitive skin. Yet, I believe they are making an anti-aging impact.

• Overnight Retinol Oil: This soothing oil plumps and soothes while delivering Retinol to your skin. It only takes a few drops. I love oils because you don't use them in place of your moisturizer. You use them in addition to your moisturizer you are already using. So, it really is a skin boost. Just just pat a few drops onto your face after cleansing and before your usual moisturizer. 

• Retinol Jasmine Lotion: This is an antioxidant-rich retinol and peptide moisturizer. I like this one for my neck in particular. It pairs nicely with the Retinol Jasmine Cleanser. 

• Retinol Jasmine Cleanser: This cleanser is fantastic! It is a gentle creamy cleanser that leaves my skin feeling super hydrated and clean. I love it! 

• Retinol Eye Cream: I do use Retinol eye cream every night. So, I have switched to this eye cream consistantly every night. It smoothes the delicate eye area to minimize fine lines. 

• Retinol Tonic: This is a retinol and antioxidant toner. You guys know that I LOVE Pixi's Glow Tonic. So, this hasn't totally replaced that for me...but, I do like it, too, and I am pretty much rotating between Glow Tonic and this Retinol Tonic. What can I say, Pixi Skintreats does toners very, very well.

I am a big believer in wearing sunscreen *daily* and reapplying throughout the day. We must protect ourselves from the sun. I have lost a dear friend to melanoma and my Dad struggled throughout his life with constantly getting basal cell carcinomas removed. Prevention is the key! 

To Use: I apply this in the mornings after washing my face, toning, and spot treating breakouts.

To Use: 

I apply this in the evenings after washing my face. I apply a small amount of this all over (avoiding eye area). Then about 20-30 min later I follow up with a moisturizer. My skin tolerates this Retinal very well and I have had no issues with irritation or dryness from the product.

While I do not break out often, I do get the occasional zit on my chin or by my nose. I have to be super careful with my skincare so that I do not aggrivate my sensitive skin nor cause breakouts from using products that are too harsh or too rich.  This is tricky as many anti-aging skincare products do contain harsher ingredients and I love the feel of rich creams but can't always use them.

FarmHouse Fresh | Vitamin Berry Facial Tonic:

This hydrating toner is an absolute joy to use. I must admit, I am a big fan of toners to begin with. I always spritz one one my hands after washing my face and then I pat it to my face gently with my hands. I feel this is such a great way to get instant hydration back into your skin after washing. Plus, I really enjoy the refreshing feel of applying it. This formula by FarmHouse Fresh works to minimizes pores with its natural fiter effect and also works to boost moisture content. The Vitamin Berry Facial Tonic features a little-known miracle fruit aronia berry that contains the highest antioxidant content ever recorded among fruits and is grown in the USA. The tonic also contains rose water, sodium hyaluronate, ascorbyl glucoside, and hydrolyzed starch.

I try to use a Retinol product almost every evening for age prevention. So, I am always curious to try out new Retinols. This Three Milk Ageless Night Cream intrigued me immediately as it promised to be super gentle. This is a good thing when it comes to Retinols and my skin as my skin can get very irritated with Retinol treatment if I am not careful. 

I do, indeed, find this to be a very gentle and easily tolerated Retinol. I am able to use it almost every night without irritation. The key is that this formula is super duper moisturizing. It literally leaves what feels like a film on your skin at night which locks in the hydration and the active ingredients so that they can go to work on your skin over night. I was able to use this formula without irritation. I like how hyrdated and soft my skin feels in the mornings after using this at night. Yes, it does leave a super thick heavy film on your skin. So, that takes getting used to. However, the results are nice. I did get a few clogged pores and minor breakouts initially. However, my skin did seem to overall tolerate this cream. 

Three Milk Ageless Night Cream contains 3 botanical milks (milk thistle, milk vetch, coconut milk), retinol and advanced peptides to firm, hydrate and transform the skin by morning. It uses a time-release delivery system of pure-form retinol for long-term targeted anti-aging benefits. Time release formulas are very beneficial as the time release really helps to minimize irritation.

Clear Skin Skincare Favorites: Featuring Zapzyt and more!

Clear Skin Skincare Favorites: 
Winter is a great time to focus on your skincare routine. Sure, I love trying new products. I am a beauty-blogger after all. However, when it comes to skincare, I rely on many tried-and-true long term favorites to keep my skin clear.

When I try out skincare products, I do so slowly and only add in one or two new products at a time. However, even with careful testing and good clear skin habits, I still occasionally have to deal with breakouts. So, if I am experiencing a lot of breakouts, I always go back to these clear skin favorites to get my skin back into shape and to clear it up. Some of these products rarely leave my skincare routine.

My Skin:
Before diving any further into my list of favorites, let me give you a little bit of background about my skin so you can know where I am coming from. My skin is somewhat sensitive and it leans to the oily side of the combination skin type. Most of my oiliness is in my t-zone area. My skin is generally clear. However, I am prone to clogged pores occasionally and do have the ocassional breakout as well (usually on my chin or right by my nose). I tend to gravitate towards products that are non-pore clogging and formulated for combination or oily skin. However, I have to be careful because of my sensitive skin. If I use products that are too harsh, my skin will rebound with redness and irritation bumps (no fun!). So, I especially have to be careful of exfoliating products.

Clear Skin Favorites:

Zapzyt | Acne Wash Cleanser: 
Zapzyt is one of my go-to brands for clear skin. I love that Zapzyt products are safe, effective, and economical. One of the stand out products in their line is the Acne Wash Cleanser. This clear gel cleanser contains 2% salicylic acid to help treat and prevent breakouts. I like to use this cleanser in the evening to give my skin a good deep clean. It rinses clean with no residue without irritating my sensitive skin. I just love it!

Zapzyt | Acne Treatment Gel:
Even with careful skincare, I do occasionally end up with the problem zit. For spot treatment, I swear by the Zapzyt Acne Treatment Gel. It contains 10% Benzoyl Peroxide to kill acne causing bacteria. In addition to spot treatment, I also apply a little tiny bit of this in the evenings (about 3-4x a week) to the areas that are prone to breakouts like my chin and near my nose (sometimes my hairline, too). If I use this too frequently, it can dry my skin. So, I try to use this just a few times a week preventatively or once a day if I am spot treating a zit.

Neutrogena | Hydro Boost Water Gel: 
When my skin is breaking out, I make sure to switch to a light weight moisturizer that I know will not break me our nor clog my pores. I really like the entire Neutrogena Hydro Boost line. I especially enjoy using the Hydro Boost Water Gel moisturizer. Even acne-prone skin needs hydration! Plus, acne products can be drying and irritating. So, it is essential that you keep a moisturizer in your skincare routine...even if you are breaking out. This product really boosts your hydration and soothes any dry areas. The key ingredient in this moisturizer is HJyaluronic Acid which holds 1,000 times its weight in water and really draws water to your skin which hydrates and plumps your skin.

L'Oreal | Pure Clay Masks:
Nothing beats a clay mask to draw out impurities from your skin. I am pretty obcessed with masks and like to do a weekly mask treatment. When my skin is breaking out, I always use a clay mask. L'Oreal has a fantastic assortment of clay masks. Right now I am especially loving this Pure Clay Mask Clear & Comfort formula. This mask's key ingredients are clay to draw out impurities and seaweed to comfort the skin. After using this, my skin feels super soft and smooth! L'Oreal has quite a wide variety of masks. So, you can really pick your mask depending on your skin's exact needs at the moment.

Dermalogica | Overnight Retinol Repair 1%:
In terms of breakout prevention, I am a big believer in Vitamin A products like Retinol (or perscription strenght if you go to a dermatologist). Retinol does amazing things for your skin. Yes, it fights things like acne but also is effective with "age prevention". One of the most powerful over-the-counter vitamin A products that I have tried is Dermalogica's Overnight Retinol Repair 1%. It is super strong. So, it comes with a buffer cream. This way, you can mix more or less of the buffer cream depending on how sensitive your skin is. I usually use about 2 parts of the retinol and 1 part buffer cream.

I am so excited about my opportunity to talk about my Most Repurchased Skinare Products for this Beauty Spotlight Team special feature! Every two weeks, a Beauty Spotlight Team member is writing a post that features their most repurchased products. As I started thinking and pre-planning for my post, I realized that my most repurchased product were, hands-down, skincare items. 

Why Repurchase Skincare Products?

Hmm...so, why is it that I seem to repurchase skincare items more than other product categories? Well, first of all, I think that I am extremely loyal to skincare items that I love. If something works for my sensitive and somewhat tempermental skin then it is obviously a keeper and something I do not want to be without! So, I believe I am very consistant and loyal with my skincare products. I mean, sure, I love to try new things. After all, I am a beauty blogger with a skincare focus! However, I always come back to my beloved favorites and repurchase them over and over again. I even often have back ups waiting in the wings for when my items run out. 

My Skin:

Before diving into my Most Repurchased Skincare items, let me give you the low-down on my skin. I am in my early 40s and I have combination skin. So, anti-aging products are certainly must haves! I am lucky in that I only have very minor signs of aging: just some fine lines around my eyes and on my forehead that are honestly only apparent when my skin is a bit dehydrated. However, I am seriously interested in age prevention! Also, my skin is somewhat sensitive. So, I am looking for effective products that do not cause any sensitivity reactions. In addition, I am somewhat prone to breakouts in my t-zone area.

Everyday Skincare Update: NEW CeraVe Skin Renewing Day Cream and Gel Oil

My skincare routine is constantly evolving. Being a beauty blogger with a genuine love for skincare, I am frequently trying out new products. Sure, I have my everyday favorites that almost always stay in my routine. However, after periods of product testing for my blog, I many times rotate these new items into my everyday routine. This was certainly the case for these new items from CeraVe! When I try out something new that I absolutely fall in love with, it ends up being a skincare staple! 

So, what initially drew me to these new items from CeraVe? Well, as soon as I read about the NEW Skin Renewing Day Cream and realized that it contained Encapsulated Retinol, I couldn't wait to try it! I am a firm believer in the power of Retinol. It is one of the most researched and *proven* anti-aging skincare ingredients. It works. Typically, I use retinol about every/other night in my skincare routine. I am always looking for more ways to add in more retinol into my routine. An everyday sunscreen with Retinol is a perfect way to get in more Retinol on a daily basis!

My Skin:

Before diving deeper into the reviews, lets chat a bit more about my skin. I always find it helpful to know the background of a product reviewer. So, let me share a little bit. That way, you can interpret my skincare results better! I have combination skin. It is right now leaning towards normal to oily (in the t-zone). I am in my early 40s, but am happy to say that I certainly don't feel my age and often get mistaken as being much, much younger. I really attribute this not only to genetics, but also to my years of using good skincare! My only signs of aging seem to be some fine lines around my eyes (that are most noticable when my skin is a bit dehydrated) and slight fine lines on the sides of my mouth and forehead. Really, my lines are not very noticable. I am highly interested in age prevention and keeping any other signs of aging at bay. My skin is also a bit sensitive. I have to be careful of product selection so that I don't increase redness nor get sensitivity reaction or irritation bumps. My skin is also very fair and prone to sunburns. So, a higher daily SPF is my best friend! In addition to all of this, my skin is somewhat prone to breaking out on my chin area and around my nose (usually hormonal related or if I use a product that is too rich for my skin type).

Besides getting a Jump Start on a great Skincare Resolution, what other Resolutions are you looking to make? Me? I am going to start back into running! I was a runner for years. However, some foot problems and then two pregnancies back-to-back (and subsequently my general lack of time now with constant childcare) has waylaid my running routine. When it comes to anti-aging skincare ingredients, nothing beats Retinol! So, when one of my favorite brands introduces a new Retinol products, I am always all ears to find out about it! So, today, I am going to give you some information and my first impressions of the NEW StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner.

To Use:
Apply a thin layer in the mornings and evenings after cleansing. I use about 1 pump's worth for my whole face. This product should be the last step in your routine. Depending on your skin type, you might need a moisturizer with this product. My skin is combo skin (currently leaning towards combo-oily). So, I do not need an additional moisturizer with this product now. However, since I am introducing Retinol into my skincare rouine, I like layering it over an additional moisturizer to keep my skin calm (and to reduce the potential for irriation). As the weather gets colder, I will likely need to switch up to a heavier moisturizer with this product.

My Results:
For this review, I am giving my first-impressions only as I have only had the opportunity to try out this product for a short period of time (A couple weeks: a short period. So, I would not consider this a "full" review, just my first impressions). I do like this product! I like the lightweight feel. This product seems to leave my skin looking and feeling smoother and I feel that I do see a very slight improvement in my pores. Also, my skin is sensitive. However, I have not had any adverse reactions to the Retinol. I know that using Retinol can be tricky and there are some Retinol formulas that are too harsh for my skin. My skin seems to tolerate the StriVectin. I am modifying how I use it. I am applying at night only and when I do I apply over a moisturizer. I have had no sensitivity reactions with this product and have not had any breakouts during product testing. So, that is a plus!

If you are looking to add a Retinol product into your routine to help you with keeping your pores clear and minimized, then you might want to consider this NEW StriVectin Advanced Retinol Pore Refiner! It is pricey at about $100 per tube. However, you know that you are getting a well-researched and effective product that can last you a long time (it only takes a small amount per application).

When I think of Le Metier de Beaute, I immediately think "luxury skincare". However, not only are they a luxurious brand, but also they focus on cutting edge formulations and effective ingredients. What I have noticed, so far, from testing out Le Metier de Beaute's Skincare products is that the products deliver what is promised!

My Skin:

Before going into my full review, lets talk about my skin. I am in my late 30s. I do not have any major lines nor wrinkles yet. However, I am noticing some fine lines cropping up more and more often. They are primarily around my eyes, but also near my mouth and on my forehead. Typically, they are only obvious when my skin is dehydrated (which seems to be all the time lately). I have slightly uneven skin with patches of redness around my nose and on my chin. Also, I have some very subtle dark spots that are left over from pregnancy around my jawline and cheek area. These have faded over time but are not gone completely. Also, I get occasional (but infrequent) breakouts and clogged pores around my chin and nose.
