Clear Skin Skincare Favorites: Featuring Zapzyt and more!

All opinions are my own.

Clear Skin Skincare Favorites:
Winter is a great time to focus on your skincare routine. Sure, I love trying new products. I am a beauty-blogger after all. However, when it comes to skincare, I rely on many tried-and-true long term favorites to keep my skin clear.

When I try out skincare products, I do so slowly and only add in one or two new products at a time. However, even with careful testing and good clear skin habits, I still occasionally have to deal with breakouts. So, if I am experiencing a lot of breakouts, I always go back to these clear skin favorites to get my skin back into shape and to clear it up. Some of these products rarely leave my skincare routine.

My Skin:
Before diving any further into my list of favorites, let me give you a little bit of background about my skin so you can know where I am coming from. My skin is somewhat sensitive and it leans to the oily side of the combination skin type. Most of my oiliness is in my t-zone area. My skin is generally clear. However, I am prone to clogged pores occasionally and do have the ocassional breakout as well (usually on my chin or right by my nose). I tend to gravitate towards products that are non-pore clogging and formulated for combination or oily skin. However, I have to be careful because of my sensitive skin. If I use products that are too harsh, my skin will rebound with redness and irritation bumps (no fun!). So, I especially have to be careful of exfoliating products.

Clear Skin Favorites:

Zapzyt | Acne Wash Cleanser
Zapzyt is one of my go-to brands for clear skin. I love that Zapzyt products are safe, effective, and economical. One of the stand out products in their line is the Acne Wash Cleanser. This clear gel cleanser contains 2% salicylic acid to help treat and prevent breakouts. I like to use this cleanser in the evening to give my skin a good deep clean. It rinses clean with no residue without irritating my sensitive skin. I just love it!

Zapzyt | Acne Treatment Gel:
Even with careful skincare, I do occasionally end up with the problem zit. For spot treatment, I swear by the Zapzyt Acne Treatment Gel. It contains 10% Benzoyl Peroxide to kill acne causing bacteria. In addition to spot treatment, I also apply a little tiny bit of this in the evenings (about 3-4x a week) to the areas that are prone to breakouts like my chin and near my nose (sometimes my hairline, too). If I use this too frequently, it can dry my skin. So, I try to use this just a few times a week preventatively or once a day if I am spot treating a zit.

Neutrogena | Hydro Boost Water Gel:
When my skin is breaking out, I make sure to switch to a light weight moisturizer that I know will not break me our nor clog my pores. I really like the entire Neutrogena Hydro Boost line. I especially enjoy using the Hydro Boost Water Gel moisturizer. Even acne-prone skin needs hydration! Plus, acne products can be drying and irritating. So, it is essential that you keep a moisturizer in your skincare routine...even if you are breaking out. This product really boosts your hydration and soothes any dry areas. The key ingredient in this moisturizer is HJyaluronic Acid which holds 1,000 times its weight in water and really draws water to your skin which hydrates and plumps your skin.

L'Oreal | Pure Clay Masks:
Nothing beats a clay mask to draw out impurities from your skin. I am pretty obcessed with masks and like to do a weekly mask treatment. When my skin is breaking out, I always use a clay mask. L'Oreal has a fantastic assortment of clay masks. Right now I am especially loving this Pure Clay Mask Clear & Comfort formula. This mask's key ingredients are clay to draw out impurities and seaweed to comfort the skin. After using this, my skin feels super soft and smooth! L'Oreal has quite a wide variety of masks. So, you can really pick your mask depending on your skin's exact needs at the moment.

Dermalogica | Overnight Retinol Repair 1%:
In terms of breakout prevention, I am a big believer in Vitamin A products like Retinol (or perscription strenght if you go to a dermatologist). Retinol does amazing things for your skin. Yes, it fights things like acne but also is effective with "age prevention". One of the most powerful over-the-counter vitamin A products that I have tried is Dermalogica's Overnight Retinol Repair 1%. It is super strong. So, it comes with a buffer cream. This way, you can mix more or less of the buffer cream depending on how sensitive your skin is. I usually use about 2 parts of the retinol and 1 part buffer cream.

So, those are my go-to current favorites for Clear Skin! What are yours? I would really love to hear!

As always, thanks for reading!
XOXO!!!

I tried this palette in the Moonkissed shade assortment. These shades range from white, to pink, to bronze, and brown. You can use this palette to highlight, bronze, or blush!

OMG...totally gorgeous and I am fully obsessed! I tried this one out in the shade Moonlight. This loose shimmer powder packs some major shimmer and total pow. Moonlight is a light white shimmer with cool, almost blue or irradecent undertones. It is absolutely gorgeous at the top of the cheekbones and noticable in a good way. I love using this and almost always get "good skin" compliments when I wear this. It has become a staple in my makeup routine! Superb quality for a drugstore item!

This gorgeous bronzer gives you a beautiful lit-from within glow and lovely color! I tried the shade light which works really well for my fair skin tone. This is beautiful for face or body!

L'Oreal Colour Riche LA Palette Lip:
What better way to compliment your glow-worthy skin, than with a gorgeous and colorful lip? It has been ages since I have tried a lip palette! I am super excited about the shade assortment in this palette. Literally, I am dying to travel somewhere just so I can take this lip palette. The on-the-go implications are amazing for this palette. You can create endless looks with this one sleek and slim palette. The formula is so hydrating and smooth. I just love it! Not only can you create many separate looks, but also you can combine the colors on one lip look to highlight and contour an accentuate your lips! Gorgeous!

Nail polish is a perfect stocking stuffer! I tried out an assortment of base colors and top coats from SinfulColors recent Punk Yourself Collection, which launched in October (available in ULTA). It is super fun to experiment with these. Plus, at $1.99 each, you can add a ton of these to a stocking! I find it super fun to experiment with nail color when I have time on my hands over Christmas vacation.

Lip treats from Sara Happ:
Treat your pucker with some luxury lip products from Sara Happ. She has gift sets available for the Holidays or you can just toss in an assortment of her bestsellers like the Pump & Primp Lip Airbrush Lip Plumper, the Lip Slip One Luxe Balm, and the Exfoliate Lip Scrub. From plumping, masking, exfoliating, and protecting...the Sara Happ products will transform your lips. I haven't tried the Lip Mask yet nor the color products, but now that I am in love with these items, I am dying to try more from Sara Happ!

Marc Anthony Hydrating Coconut Oil Deep Nourishing Conditioning Treatment:
Last, but not least, stuff the stocking with a hair mask! Cold weather really dries out my hair. Christmas vacation is the perfect time to take a little extra time in the shower with a hair mask treatment. The Marc Anthony True Professional Hydrating Coconut Oil & Shea Butter Deep Conditioning Treatment ($2.99 at Ulta) is a lightweight oil treatment that penetrates the cuticle to help nourish and hydrate your hair leaving it smoother and shinier, while protecting from splitting and breaking, allowing hair to grow longer, faster.

Summer Beauty Hacks with L’Orรฉal Paris Celebrity Makeup Artist, Sir John

Summer Beauty Hacks
with L’Orรฉal Paris Celebrity Makeup Artist, Sir John

Nothing beats the Summer heat for fun times in the sun. However, Summer fun can sure wreak havoc on your makeup and skin! From melting makeup, to sunburns, to trying to find a glow...what is a girl to do?

Luckily, L’Orรฉal Paris Celebrity Makeup Artist, Sir John has some fantastic tips for Summer beauty and L’Orรฉal Paris has some great products to help you out along the way. I was able to try out these products and road-test these tips and I can tell ya'll. They do work!

SUMMER BEAUTY HACK #1: COVERING A SUNBURN
SIR JOHN TIP: While everyone tries to avoid getting a sunburn, unfortunately sometimes it still happens. Luckily, there are some easy ways to cover it up. Sir John recommends using the L’Orรฉal Paris Infallible Total Cover Foundation ($12.99) along with a green color corrector as found in the L’Orรฉal Paris Infallible Total Cover Color Correcting Kit. The green will neutralize the redness on skin. Using a makeup sponge like the L’Orรฉal Paris Infallible Blend Artist Concealer Blender ($7.99), dab it into places that are burned the most - areas like your nose and cheekbone.

No, I didn't actually end up with a sunburn on my face this summer (I am very diligent with SPF...especially on my face). However, sometimes I do still get too much sun on my nose and I don't want my nose to look darker than the rest of my face. So, I used these tips to neutralize the color on my nose and even out my skintone.

SUMMER BEAUTY HACK #2: HOW TO USE MELT-PROOF MAKEUP
SIR JOHN TIP: Melting makeup doesn’t have to be synonymous with heat and humidity. Sir John has a trick to tame eyebrows and keep them in place to weather the elements  – spraying hairspray on a thin toothbrush and then gently rubbing it on the brows (in more extreme cases like when on tour with clients, he has used a glue stick in place of hairspray). He then suggests penciling them in with an eye brow pencil like the L’Orรฉal Paris Brow Stylist Definer ($8.99). He also suggests using a waterproof mascara like the L'Oreal Paris Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara ($9.99).

Melting makeup is no joke in the super hot, sunny, and humid Georgia climate that I live in. Sometimes it feels like an impossible feat to just get your makeup to stay on in the Summer. Plus, my brows are super unruly. So, I always appreciate tips about how to keep them tamed. The L’Orรฉal Paris Brow Stylist Definer and the L'Oreal Paris Lash Paradise Waterproof Mascara are now new favorites of mine!

SUMMER BEAUTY HACK #3: HOW TO FAUX THE JLO SUMMER GLOW
SIR JOHN TIP: To get the perfect faux glow, Sir John recommends exfoliating with a product like the L’Orรฉal Pure-Clay Exfoliate and Refine Cleanser ($6.99) the night before you want to tan to prep skin. Then use a self-tanner and apply all over face and body for an even and natural-looking glow. Sir John loves the L'Oreal Paris Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Serum ($10.99) as it’s easy to apply and lasts up to two weeks.

I am all about drugstore skincare and self tanners! I absolutely love the glow that I get from the L'Oreal Paris Sublime Bronze Self-Tanning Serum. It is so natural-looking and as a super fair skinned girl, it is my best way to get "tan". Plus, the L’Orรฉal Pure-Clay line of cleansers are fantastic. There are three different ones and I just love the cleanse that I get from these.

If you already have a gorgeous glow but want to add some highlight to your face, mix a liquid highlighter like the L’Orรฉal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator ($12.99) with a hydrating facial moisturizer from the L’Orรฉal Paris Hydra Genius ($17.99) line and apply it on your desired areas.

No Summer glow is complete without a touch of highlighter and some dewy moisturized skin! I am obcessed with the L’Orรฉal Paris True Match Lumi Liquid Glow Illuminator! Just a touch of this highlighter to key areas of my face (top of cheekbows, brow, center of nose, and chin) gives gorgeous dimension! Plus, I love the texture of the L’Orรฉal Paris Hydra Genius moisturizer. It plumps up the skin nicely and leaves me so hydrated.

I hope these tips are helpful to you! I sure found them to be great ways to beat the heat this Summer with my beauty products from L'Oreal Paris!

As always, thanks so much for reading!
XOXO!!!
