Do you need a do-over for your skin? Do you have an uneven skintone, acne scarring, dark spots, or any other imperfections? Le Metier de Beaute's new Peau Vierge Dark Spot Corrector wants to give your skin a "second chance"! Actually, Le Metier de Beaute promises noticeably smoother and more even toned skin in 28 days with this product (they call it the "28 Day Challenge"). Sounds good, right?!
I really am excited about this product! After trying to conceive, being pregnant, and nursing (for a year), I took quite a long break from any products containing Retinol. Let me just go ahead and tell ya'll, my skin missed Retinol! I am constantly told that I look much younger than I am. I attribute this to my years of using Retinol-type products! So, I am so excited to get started again with a Retinol regimen. However, my skin is quite sensitive. So, I knew that there might be an adjustment phase where my skin has to get used to using a Retinol product. While I was looking forward to the results, I was not looking forward to the probable peeling, irritation, and redness that I might experience as my skin starts getting used to Retinol again.
As soon as I heard about this product, I knew that it was the best bet to ease me back into a Retinol routine! Le Metier de Beaute's skincare is not only top of the line but also extremely effective. When I think of Le Metier de Beaute, I immediately think "luxury skincare". However, not only are they a luxurious brand, but also they focus on cutting edge formulations and effective ingredients. What I have noticed, so far, from testing out Le Metier de Beaute's Skincare products is that the products deliver what is promised!
The Le Metier Skincare Difference: Syntoc Actif
All of Le Metier's products containing Retinol use "Syntoc Actif". Syntoc Actif is Le Metier's breakthrough skincare delivery system that encapsulates the active ingredients and transports it to where it is needed very effectively. Syntoc Actif penetrates your skin deeply to deliver active ingredients (along with anti-inflammatory properties) quickly and effectively without irritation or harsh side effects.
My Skin:
Before going into my full review, lets talk about my skin. I am in my late 30s. I do not have any major lines nor wrinkles yet. However, I am noticing some fine lines cropping up more and more often. They are primarily around my eyes, but also near my mouth and on my forehead. Typically, they are only obvious when my skin is dehydrated (which seems to be all the time lately). I have slightly uneven skin with patches of redness around my nose and on my chin. Also, I have some very subtle dark spots that are left over from pregnancy around my jawline and cheek area. These have faded over time but are not gone completely. Also, I get occasional (but infrequent) breakouts and clogged pores around my chin and nose.

Le Metier De Beaute's Peau Vierge Dark Spot Corrector:
The Formula:
It all starts with ingredients! Le Metier's Dark Spot Corrector is packed with research-based ingredients to improve your skin, specifically a powerful skin lightening and protection complex that combines 1% Retinol and 1% Hexylresorcinol.
- Benefits of 1% Retinol: Decreases acne scars and photoaging from sun, diminishes the appearance of discoloration and reveals lighter pigmentation with each treatment.
- Benefits of 1% Hexylresorcinol-Said to be four times more effective than Hydroquinone, protects skin's collagen by reducing glycation, effectively treats hyper-pigmented skin.
My Product Testing:
As I mentioned earlier in this post, it has literally been about 2 years since I had used any Retinol-related product on my skin. I am a HUGE believer in the power of Retinol. It is literally the most researched and most effective anti-aging skincare ingredient on the market. If you are serious about your anti-aging skincare routine, you really need to be sure to add a Retinol-related product into your routine. Throughout the years, I have tried just about every form of Retinol, from prescription to over-the-counter. Literally, I have been on some form of Retinol since I was a teenager with acne on Retin-a. It was often difficult to find a balance where my skin would reap the benefits of retinol without the side effects. I still have memories of the terrible peeling and irritation I had from using Retin-a.
So, with all that said, Le Metier's promise of 1% Retinol without irritation sounds absolutely wonderful, right? I just knew that this product needed to be my choice for my skin's re-introduction to using Retinol. Well, let me tell you, I am so glad that I choose Le Metier!!! I am amazed! I absolutely had *no irritation* with this product!!!
The Product Itself and How I use:
The Dark Spot Corrector is a yellow-ish cream. One pump's worth dispenses just enough product to smooth over my entire face (avoiding eye area and mouth). One of the tricks with Retinol is to not over-apply. You need to resist the urge to use a huge amount. Using more product will not make it work more effecively. So, having a pump dispenser that gives you just the right amount is very useful, indeed. I apply the Dark Spot Corrector after cleansing my face at night. You can also use more product to target specific dark spots (to "spot treat" them). Sometimes I top this product with a moisturizer after giving the product a chance to sink in.
The Results:
Wow! I am very impressed! I can't get over how porcelain my skin looks! My skin tone is noticeably more evened out and I even look more fair (since the random dark patches have faded). Results started to be quite apparent around 10 days into treatment with results continuing to improve and becoming increasingly more noticable one month into my product testing. My skin seems to be plumped up a bit and overall looks more hydrated. My fine lines look less apparent and my stray dark spots on my jawline look much lighter. Overall, my skin looks and feels smoother! I am amazed that I have had such incredible results without any irritation. From my years of using Retinol products, I almost "expect" oration. So much so that I honestly thought you had to go through that to get results. Well, now I know that you do *not* have to experience all of that peeling and irritation to get results. Le Metier has found a way (through Syntoc Actif) to deliver the amazing power of Retinol to your skin without irritation. Also, I love how porcelain my skin looks from the Hexylresorcinol. Honestly, this is my first time ever using any sort of skin-lightener. Love the results!
The Skinny:
Le Metier de Beaute's Peau Vierge Dark Spot Corrector comes in a sleek black pump-style 0.5 oz tube. It debuted in March 2013 at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and select Saks Fifth Avenue and Nordstrom Stores. It retails for $125.
While Le Metier's Dark Spot Corrector is certainly expensive, it is totally effective! When you think about the price, compare it to the various prescription retinol-related anti-aging products on the market (then the price does not seem that expensive!). Plus, you are not going to get the irritation and side effects with Le Metier that you certainly would have with a Rx product. I would much rather spend the money on Le Metier products in the future rather than a prescription product. You get less irritation with Le Metier and still get amazing results!
As a beauty blogger that tests out skincare products, I will have to move on to other skincare testing. However, know that I will be returning back to this amazing Dark Spot Corrector from Le Metier in-between testing out other products!!!
