Buttermask for Lips:

Don't you just love the idea of a product that works for you while you sleep? I suffer from chronic dry lips. My lips are in constant need of moisture. Plus, the health of my lips really depends on what I apply before bed. I am a mouth breather. So, my lips can get very dried out as I sleep at night. 

Buttermask for Lips is an intensive overnight mask for your lips. This mask repairs your moisture barrier and soothes your lips with nourishing ingredients. Buttermask is infused with Fairly Traded Coconut Oil and Wild Mango Butter, this nourishing overnight treatment for dry lips smoothes and softens your lips while you sleep.

I really love the results that I get with this product and I honestly just enjoy using it. I keep it right by my clock on my nightstand so that I remember to apply it every night right before I go to sleep. I adore it!

This product retails for $24.00. While the price is a bit high for a lip treatment, I think it is totally work it as the product delivers fantastic results and it only takes a little bit of product to treat your lips.

This is a glowy radiance-boosting skin moisturizer. This product is unique! It is somewhere between a tintied moisturizer and a bronzing liquid highlighter. It honestly is a multi-tasker as it provides a sheer tint, a bit of luminosity, and a dose of moisture to your skin. I don't use this as a stand alone product, but use it more as a mix-in to boost products already in my routine. 

The Glow Formula Skin Hydrator does more than just hydrate! It is infused with Pomegranate Extract (Pomegranate is a powerful superfood which is rich in antioxidants). Pomegranate has been shown to help improve skin texture and quality. The Glow Formula Skin Hydrator also includes skin illuminating minerals which help to reflect light and boost luminosity. 

How I use this product:

I mix about a pump's worth into my moisturizer and apply during my morning skincare routine. This is the step that I do before applying my tinted sunscreen. As ya'll may know, I do prefer more of a natural look for everyday. So, I just wash my face, apply this product mixed with my moisturizer, then apply my tinted sunscreen, then proceed with makeup. When I do this, I find that I can skip foundation. I normally use a dusting of powder foundation. However, when I use this product. I like to skip the foundation and just opt for a light dusting of a translucent powder instead to set my look. 

This is honestly my new favorite product and something that I really enjoy applying! While the effect is subtle, I think it makes a difference in the look of my skin. Plus, I know that the antioxidant protection works over time preventatively. I really love using the Glow Formula Skin Hydrator!

Now ya'll know that I love me some Kiehl's, right? Well, with their personalized skincare service the Apothecary Preparations, they have even exceeded my super high expectations! 

Kiehl's has a long history. They have been around since 1851 and started then as an Apothecary in New York City. Well, with their new personalized Apothecary Preparations, they are really going back to their Apothecary roots! The Apotehcary Preparations are completely personalized to your own unique skincare concerns. I can't wait to tell you more about mine and the experience.

Kiehl's Apothecary Preparations: 
Getting Your Personalized Serum: How it works:

When you go to a Kiehl's store, a skincare expert there will sit down with you for a 1:1 consultation. For my experience we discussed my skincare concerns as we went through a book with pictures to help identify the state of your skin in reguards to Kiehl's TARGETED COMPLEXES for
Wrinkles, Texture, Clarity, Enlarged Pores, and Redness. The idea here is that you are identifying which of these are your primary concerns.

While many of these targeted areas are concerns on some level, Kiehl's helped me to identify my top two: Pores and Visible Redness. Lines and wrinkles are a "concern" of mine. However, my concern is about prevention, not diminishing existing lines and wrinkles. So, while that area is a concern. It is not a top concern. So, the wrinkle complex is not in my formula. (I kinda wish it was though as it is the target complex with Retinol!).

Kiehl's will give you a custom label for your Apothecary Preparation Skin Serum and also a personal "perscription" for when you want to come in for a refill. They can simply scan it you can refil the same exact formula. So, you take home a jar of serum with two tubes of additives that you mix in at home. I love this!!! You really feel like a home chemist formulating your own unique and custom created skincare.

For my skin, I was instructed to use this serum either morning or night or both (up to me). Since I do love using Retinol, and Retinol is not in this Apothecary formula, I will be using this serum primarily in the mornings after cleansing and before moisturizing/applying sunscreen. The Kiehl's associate made it clear that my skin will be more sensitive to the sun from the actives in my formula. So, I really like how clear he made it that I needed sunscreen (I already know this but I am glad it is part of what they tell people). I only need 1-2 drops of this serum for effectiveness. I love the feel of this serum on my skin! I have only used it for a few weeks and I am already seeing noticable results.

If you are in a lull with your skincare routine, or if you perhaps are just feeling kinda lost with what your serum needs are, you should consider getting your own custom formula at Kiehl's! It was such a fun experience and I honestly feel like I learned so much about my skincare routine. Plus, they talk you through your routine as far as the order of application and everything. With a custom formula, you really can't go wrong! Plus, you don't have actives in your formula that you don't need!

Overall, the Kiehl's custom Apothecary Preparations consultation was a fantastic experience! I walked away with more knowledge of my own skin, a better understanding of my skincare routine, and an amazing custom product which is exactly what my skin needs!!!

In addition to the Apothecary Preparation skincare experience, I also walked away with a few additional products to suppliment my skincare routine. Many of these are old favorites...but, I just had to tell you about Kiehl's brand new sleeping mask...

NEW Face Mask: The Ginger Leaf & Hibiscus Firming Mask:

Facial masks are a weekly part of my skincare routine. So, I am super excited to get to try out this brand new one from Kiehl's! The day that I went to the Kiehl's flagship store in Atlanta at Lenox Mall, I was able to come away with this amazing mask on the very day it launched! 

My skincare expert at Kiehl's told me to use the mask after cleansing my face. I like the idea that on mask night (with this mask), I will have a simplified routine. Literally all you do is cleanse your face and then apply this mask. You can either tissue off the excess or just apply a thinner layer and leave it on all night. For nights with this mask, that is the only skincare you will need! As someone with a long multi-step routine, I love the idea of a mask not being an "extra" step, but as a more simplified night routine. So, I am going to literally use this mask when I feel like my skin needs some extra moisture and attention but on nights that I don't want a long routine! Since this mask is on your skin all night, it really is a sleeping mask and will do its amazing work on your skin while you sleep. So, you wake up nicely hydrated! I love the gorgeous scent and feel of this mask. I do not have trouble with lack of firmness in my skin. So, I can't speak to that benefit. However, I do feel that my skin is more plumped, smoothed, and hydrated when I wake up in the morning after using this mask.

The Ginger Leaf & Hibiscus Firming Mask retails for $54 for 3.4 fl oz. This jar should last me a long time since you really do not need to apply much to get great results.

Nice bath products are such an indulgent treat. So, they make perfect gifts! Bath and Body products are my go-to product category for Holiday Gifts. I just think that nice bath and body products are a universally well-liked gift across the board. Giving luxury bath products as gifts really does encourage the recipient to induldge and treat themselves to a nice bath or a pick-me-up shower. Plus, the gift sets available this time of year are such great values. I just might stock up for myself while shopping for my friends and family.

Laura Mercier:
Have you ever induldged Laura Mercier bath and body products??? A-ma-zing!!! Some of my very favorite scents are from Laura Mercier...from her fragrances, to the body butters, and the honey bath...completely rich and decadent gourmand scents.

Laura Mercier has a fantastic lineup of body care gift sets this year (in addition to her skincare and makeup gift sets). Here are a few of my favorites from the bath and body assortment of sets:

Le Home & Away Ambre Vanille Collection:
This collection will keep you stocked up on the decadent Ambre Vanille body butters in a full size and two travel sized tubes. This way, you can have one by your bed, in your handbag, and in your car. I find that having multiples of body creams and butters around increases how many times I apply per day which directly impacts how well conditioned my skin is. The more I apply the better. Les Petits Souffles Souffle Body Creme Collection:
This is the full collection of Laura Mercier's Body Cremes in a mini 2 oz size. This includes Almond Coconut Milk (my fave!!!), Ambre Vanilla, Creme de Pistache (another fave!), Fresh Fig (and yet another fave...lol, can you tell that I totally dig gourmand scents? lol!), Creme Brûlée, and Tarte au Citron. These cremes are so hydrating! Whenever I have these on hand, I use them like crazy. If you coat yourself in these after a shower or bath, you will be left with super soft and richly scented skin Honestly, I don't even need to follow these up with a fragrance as I am completely scented from just the creme.

Sweet Temptations Crème Brûlée Set:

So, I was thrilled to try out this lovely product. The scent is an ultra uplifting fresh plum and floral scent. I just adore it! This is a huge bottle that will last me forever in my shower. It leaves you feeling cleansed and softened without overdrying and without residue.

This huge 32 oz bottle retails for $22.49.

As a Speech-Language Pathologist, I am proud to have worked with many amazing kids with Autism over the years. I have a very special place in my heart for these unique kids and their special needs and gifts. 

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), a developmental condition, is a global issue that affects over 1% of the world's population. Notably, more children than ever before are being diagnosed with ASD. My skin just feels clean and soft afterwards. This cleanser removes my light makeup and dirt and oil easily. Plus, I love the spa-like herbal scent of the product! I especially like using this for my evening cleansing routine. I love how my skin feels fresh and hydrated after using this cleanser.

I am so excited about my opportunity to talk about my Most Repurchased Skinare Products for this Beauty Spotlight Team special feature! Every two weeks, a Beauty Spotlight Team member is writing a post that features their most repurchased products. As I started thinking and pre-planning for my post, I realized that my most repurchased product were, hands-down, skincare items. 

Why Repurchase Skincare Products?

Hmm...so, why is it that I seem to repurchase skincare items more than other product categories? Well, first of all, I think that I am extremely loyal to skincare items that I love. If something works for my sensitive and somewhat tempermental skin then it is obviously a keeper and something I do not want to be without! So, I believe I am very consistant and loyal with my skincare products. I mean, sure, I love to try new things. After all, I am a beauty blogger with a skincare focus! However, I always come back to my beloved favorites and repurchase them over and over again. I even often have back ups waiting in the wings for when my items run out. 

My Skin:

Before diving into my Most Repurchased Skincare items, let me give you the low-down on my skin. I am in my early 40s and I have combination skin. So, anti-aging products are certainly must haves! I am lucky in that I only have very minor signs of aging: just some fine lines around my eyes and on my forehead that are honestly only apparent when my skin is a bit dehydrated. However, I am seriously interested in age prevention! Also, my skin is somewhat sensitive. So, I am looking for effective products that do not cause any sensitivity reactions. In addition, I am somewhat prone to breakouts in my t-zone area.

I really enjoy using this cream! The cream is very rich. The texture is a bit tacky at first.  However, you just need to give it time to absorb and sink into the skin. Once it does, it leaves you feeling non-greasy. It immediately plumps up my skin and hydrates it. It leaves me feeling smooth and moisturized. I like using this cream at night since it is so rich. I think that this cream would work best for normal and normal-to-dry skin types. I think it is a perfect Winter skincare cream for my combination skin (however, I do think it might be too rich for me in the Summer when my skin is less dry).
