Have you seen these new C & C products from Clean & Clear? This ingredient-focused line is my husband's new choice for skincare! The black packaging and straightforward packaging really appealed to him. Plus, he tends to reach for items designed to keep his pores clear.

How do you pick out skincare? Do you tend to go for key ingredients? I know that I do that a lot of the time. This line has some standout products with each one focusing on a key ingredient.

C&C by Clean & Clear Chill Out Cooling Mint Pore Cleanser - This oil-free, minty face wash delivers a cooling effect while cleansing deep into pores. This one was a hit for my husband. He always gravitates towards minty cleansers. So, he really loves this and enjoys the clean feel.

Focus on: Lavender
C&C by Clean & Clear Total Zen Calming Lavender Mousse Cleanser - Specially formulated for sensitive skin, this oil-free foaming mousse face wash calms your senses with lavender, while it cleanses dirt and oil. I really enjoy lavender in the evening (I frequently diffuse it at night when I am sleeping). I did find this cleanser to be a little bit drying. However, I am using prescription Retin-A which makes my skin more prone to dryness and irritation.

C&C by Clean & Clear Black Out Blackhead Clearing Coffee Scrub - This oil-free, coffee-scented blackhead scrub gently exfoliates and cleanses deep into pores. Salicylic acid also helps combat active breakouts and fights to prevent future acne.

While my husband is new to using toner, he is enjoying adding in this step. Plus, the combo of actives in this one really keeps pores clear.

I just couldn't resist talking about a few of my other favorites from Clean & Clear! Their Persa-gel 10 has been a staple anti-acne product in my skincare arsenal for years. I literally use Benzol Peroxide daily in the mornings around my t-zone area. It is fantastic prevention in that breakout prone area. Clean & Clear has a varieity of salisylic acid based cleansers. This Acne Clear one is great for using in the mornings to get some salisylic acid treatment into your skincare routine. I try to do a spa night at least once a week with a facial mask. I tend to gear my treatment based on what my skin needs at the moment. The Night Relaxing Jelly Mask is so soothing and hydrating! If I am opting for more pore-clearing action, then I can reach for the Cleansing Clay Mask. Both are fantastic!

The kids might be back-to-school, but it is still hot and sunny in Georgia! While we do wear sunscreen year-round, the protection needs are even higher with the high temps and exposed skin when wearing lightweight clothing. 

Lately I have been loving the Australian Gold Botanical collection of sunscreens. These sunscreens really stand out! The packaging is beautiful and seriously looks like a high end sunscreen. I especially like this collection because they are all mineral sunscreens. They body sunscreens are highly fragranced. However, they do not have a typical tropical sunscreen smell. The facial SPF is unscented which I really appreciate! My facial skin is quite sensitive. So, using a non-scented mineral sunscreen is the way-to-go for me. 

Mineral sunscreen is my sunscreen formulation of choice. Sure, I occasionally use non-mineral sunscreens on my body. However, I honestly prefer using mineral sunscreen protection. It does not degrade as quickly in the sun and it is less likely to irritate my somewhat sensitive skin. On my face, I almost exclusively use mineral sunscreens. Now with mineral sunscreens, you typically get a thicker formula and a white cast. However, I kinda prefer that texture and my skin is so fair that the white cast is never that much of a problem for me. However, if you have a darker skin tone, the white case is certainly a downside to using mineral sunscreen protection.

I really love this sunscreen!!! I am always in search of fantastic and affordable unscented mineral sunscreens and this is an amazing one at a great price. I really like tinted sunscreens as I don't tend to wear foundation on a daily basis. So, I appreciate my sunscreen having the ability to slightly even out my skin tone. Plus, the tint does tend to downplay any white cast of the mineral ingredients in the product. I am happy to add this to my daily SPF arsenal. I go through sunscreens so fast that I really appreciate good drugstore formulations.

How to use:
After cleansing with a gentle cleanser and patting dry, just wipe pad across face, neck + decollete.

Note: You should always do a patch test first when trying out a glycolic product for the first time. Also, if you have sensitive skin, be careful about how many times a week you exfoliate. Personally, my skin does best with 1-2 nights a week max. However, some people can exfoliate daily. Just proceed slowly and see how your skin responds.

NIP + FAB Gycolic Fix Foaming Pads:
These dual action pads give you twice the action! They are enriched with 2% glycolic acid and moisture-rich ingredients. These pads will gently clease the skin without overdrying. Plus, you can switch from the textued side to exfoliate and the smooth side to polish your skin and to lift away dirt, oil, and impurities.

Besides the 2% glycolic acid, the pads also contain hyaluronic acid (for hydration), and witch hazel to tone and tighten your pores.

How to use:
You can use these pad daily (if your skin tolerates daily exfoliation). You just massage the pad in a circular motion to damp skin to work up the lather. Use the smooth side to polish and the textured side to exfoliate. Then, rinse off with tepid water.

I just have to talk about this miracle product first! This is my new favorite spot treatment for pesky zits. The ZAPZYT Spot treatment gel's main ingredient is the Benzoyl peroxide which is effective for sensitive skin. I have always had good luck with Benzoyl Peroxide as it is an excellent and effective zit fighter. This gel contains 10% Benzoyl Peroxide which kills 99% of acne-causing bacteria. This product is so easy to add into my skincare routine. When I see a breakout, I just dab this on after washing my face in the mornings and the evenings. I tend to always get breakouts in the same area: my t-zone. So, during "that time of the month" I can just apply this as needed to my t-zone area to treat my breakouts quickly and effectively. 

ZAPZYT Pore Treatment Gel:
This is a treatment gel designed to help people with sensitive skin. 2% Salicylic Acid is the active ingredient in this gel. ZAPZYT Pore Treatment Gel balances the active ingredient of Salicylic acid with calming aloe and Brazilian botanicals. Personally, I prefer the ZAPZYT Acne Treatment Gel with Benzoyl Peroxide as my primary spot treatment. However, this gel is a nice alternative and certainly a great option for those that don't tolerate Benzoyl Peroxide or prefer not to use it. It also contains Linoleic Acid to reduce inflammation and Aloe and Brazilian Botanicals to reduce redness. 

ZAPZYT Acne Wash Cleanser:
I really like this cleanser! It is a great cleanser to whip out of my skincare arsneal when my skin is acting up around that time of the month. ZAPZYT Acne wash balances powerful Salicylic Acid with soothing aloe and chamomile. While it is too drying for me to use everyday, it is great for me to use when my skin is breaking out. It is Hypoallergenic cleanser, dye and fragrance free. It contains Aloe and Chamomile to soothe your skin and reduce redness. The active ingredient in this cleanser is 2% Salicylic Acid. Salicylic Acid cleansers are great to use on breakout prone skin as they provide exfoliation of your skin while unclogging pores and giving you a really deep cleanse. 

ZAPZYT Pore Clearing Scrub:
When my skin is really acting up, this is a big boost to my anti-acne routine. ZAPZYT Pore Clearing Scrub has powerful 2% Salicylic acid and natural wax microbeads for exfoliation. This is a 2% Salicylic Acid based scrub. It also contains Tiny, NATURAL, wax microbeads for an exfoliating boost. So, this product contains both chemical exfoliant (the salicylic acid) and a mechanical exfoliant (the microbeads). This product is too powerful for me to use frequently. However, it is nice to have on hand for when breakouts are bad and I really need a powerful cleanser/exfoliant.

My hormones and skin have been all over the map lately. When my hormones are wacky, I break out. I always thought that my issues with breakouts would be long behind me at my age. However, yes, women like myself in their 40s do still get breakouts.

My Skin:
I have classic combination skin. It varies widely depending on the season and the state of my hormones. Currently, I am leaning towards normal-to-oily with a lot of oil through my t-zone. I also classify myself as having sensitive skin. So, I need to be careful of ingredients. In addition, since I am in my 40s, I am very interested in effective anti-aging skincare. While this Effaclar System is not marketed as an anti-aging system. It is a system that "plays nicely" with my anti-aging skincare treatments, serums, and creams. So, it helps to keep my skin clear while also being gentle enough on my skin that I can still continue to use my anti-aging treatment products and serums in conjunction with this system. 

Recently, my hormonal breakouts were driving me so batty that I finally gave in and went to see the dermatologist. I tend to check in with a dermatologist anually anyways for full body skin cancer screenings (skin cancer runs in my family). Guess what? The Dermatologist recommended La Roche-Posay products!!! I even got a few samples from my Dr. of the items in the Dermatoligical Acne System. I was thrilled that the doctor recommended products that I could easily get at the drugstore. I must also mention that I have changed my birth control pill as well and that seems to have helped to regulate my hormones better and has probably contributed to my skin clearing up as well. Either way, the combination of the new pill and the inclusion of the Effaclar products has really helped my skin!

The cleanser contains Aveeno's antioxidant rich blackberry extract and is clinically proven to help preserve skin's natural moisture barrier. 

AVEENO® ABSOLUTELY AGELESS™ Eye Cream:

I really enjoy using this eye cream! My eyes are sensitive and are prone to redness, irritation, and my eyes water very easily. I found this eye cream to be both gentle and effective. After using this product for a few weeks, my eye area looks and feels soothed and hydrated. Plus, I find that this eye cream is an ideal base for makeup. It does not leave the eye area feeling overly greasy. This eye cream plumps up my eye area skin and fine lines look less apparent. Plus, this eye cream helps to depuff the eyes as well. I think this is an ideal eye cream for daytime use (you can use it day or night, but I prefer to use it during the day).
