Spring/Summer Morning Skincare Routine with Zapzyt and more:
Hey lovelies! I just thought that I would check in with my latest update in my skincare routine. There have been many changes! I always tend to shift my skincare routine a bit for the Spring and Summer. Plus, I have recently started a topical prescription retinod in the evenings (more on that in a future post. I recently started tretinoin.). So, I have really had to up my game with my skincare routine across the board to combat dryness and also to cater to my skin's sensitivities secondary to the retinoid treatment. Now, I am still product testing for the blog. So, this routine can very depending on my product testing. However, with that said, this routine is what I am always returning to in-between product testing.

My Skin:
Before diving into my routine, lets chat a bit more about my skin. I have sensitive combination skin. Typically, I am normal-to-oily. However, with the addition of a topical prescription retinoid, I am leaning more towards dry currently as my skin adjusts. Hopefully that will calm down soon. However, I am experiencing some dry patches and flaky skin here and there. It is not too bad (and I think the products I am using are really helping to alleviate the dryness and flaky skin!). I am somewhat acne prone, too. I tend to get mild breakouts during "that time of the month" in my t-zone area and primarily on my chin. My eye area is super sensitive and I am plagued by dark under eye circles.

My Updated Spring and Summer Skincare Routine:

Step 1: Cleanse:
My first step in my skincare routine is to cleanse with a mild and gentle Salicylic Acid-based cleanser. Zapzyt is the perfect choice for me! It is literally my favorite Salicylic Acid based cleanser for a number of reasons. It is very gentle. It does not over dry my tretinoin-dried skin. It is fragrance-free. Last, but not least, it is extremely affordable! You honestly cannot go wrong with this cleanser. Salicylic Acid is delivered beautifully to the skin from the Zapzyt cleanser. It works wonderfully to help combat breakouts while also providing gentle and mild exfoliation. To use, I just apply to my damp facial skin in the mornings during my shower. I let it sit on my face for about 1-2 minutes and then I rinse off with tepid water.

What else do I love about Zapzyt Acne Wash Cleanser? It is honestly just the best Salicylic Acid based cleanser that I have tried (and I have tried many). It provides real acne skincare solutions for real people. I feel that I can effectively treat my breakouts and prevent the future problem zits with Zapzyt! Zapzyt was easy to add to my skincare routine and it effectively treats my problem zits!

Step 2: Apply Hyaluronic Acid Based Humectant:
This is one of the newest (and best) additions to my skincare routine! Hyaluronic Acid is a fabulous ingredient for combatting transepidermal water loss in the skin. It holds on to water and draws it onto the skin. It actually holds up to 1000x its weight in water! Water loss leads to dryness and this extra step helps to combat that issue. I simply apply a dab of this to my wet face after cleansing. Since I was my face in the shower. I apply this as soon as I step out of the shower to my wet face. This product is amazing! My skin seems much more hydrated since adding this. Plus, it layers nicely under the rest of my skincare routine. I use this in the evenings as well. I am in the process of exploring the whole Hydro Boost line from Neutrogena and it really is fantastic!!! More Hydro Boost reviews coming soon!

Step 3: Apply Acne Treatment Product:
I don't use this product every single day. However, about 3-4x a week, I apply this benzoyl peroxide based treatment gel from Zapzyt to my entire t-zone area. I let my skin air dry just a bit after applying the Hydro Boost to my wet face and then apply the Zapzyt gel. This works wonders to zap the problem zit and to prevent future breakouts, too! Plus, did you know that this acne treatment gel is water based and doesn’t contain alcohol like the competitive products (which only irritates and adds to the redness of the already red/inflamed zit area)? So, it really is my go-to treatment product...especially when my skin is dry and irriated already.

Step 4: Apply Eye Cream:
This is one of the other new additions to my morning skincare routine. After a recent complaints to my Dermatologist about my dark under eye circles, she recommended that I try out this product as her other patients have reported good results (and they sell it at the office). So, I did a little bit of research and then found a deal online. While it is still too soon for me to report my personal results, the reviews online are good! This cream promises to help combat signs of fatigue and aging around the eyes like fine lines, puffiness, dark circles, and irritation. So far, I like it! It hydrates beautifully and has very subtle illuminators to brighten the eye area. I feel that I have started to get a bit of a surface lightening effect that is diminishing my dark circles a bit. Also, it is very gentle and soothing to use. It sinks in nicely and leaves a nice base for eye makeup. Key ingredients include: Palmitoyl pentapeptide-4 (diminishes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles), Grape seed oil and green tea extract (provide antioxidant protection), Vitamin C (brightens skin and offers antioxidant benefits),
Sodium hyaluronate (hydrates and moisturizes), and Mica, silica and titanium dioxide (instantly brightens skin). Overall, I am super pleased! I am curious to try out the Teamine Concealer as well. If I do, I would switch the eye cream to the evening and use the Teamine Concealer in the morning as a 2-in-1 eye cream/concealer.

Step 4: Vitamin C and/or Antioxidant Serum:
This serum really is powerful with a 12.5% concentration of Vitamin C. Plus, it has the powerhouse ingredient that I love: hyaluronic acid (a new addition to the product during its recent re-formulation).  I am a HUGE fan of Kiehl's skincare and this is one of my very favorite products from the brand. It works wonderfully to brighten the skin and give an overall radiance boost. It adds in a bit of extra hydration, too, before I apply my sunscreen. Plus, you get the antioxidant power and protection from active Vitamin C. I really believe that everyone needs an antioxidant product in their skincare routine. So, morning is the time that I can apply it so that it won't interfere with my night time treatment products. Note: when my skin is feeling a bit more on the irritated side, I skip this product as it can sting a bit if I am overly irritated. Otherwise, I have no problems with this. I just love it!

Step 5: Sunscreen!!!

This is the most important step! Everyone must use a sunscreen...daily! This is of the utmost importance for everyone...but even more important now that I am on prescription topicals as they increase sun sensitivity (and I think that Salicylic Acid increases sun sensitivity as well). I will fully admit that I always switch up my sunscreens...especially since my favorite sunscreen by Belli Skincare was recently discontinued. So, I am looking for recommendations here! Right now I am using CeraVe's Facial Moisturizing Lotion with Sunscreen SPF 30. Now, I do believe that this product has been reformulated or perhaps just re-packaged. However, this is the version that I am currentlyn using. I like CeraVe products as they contain ceramides which are despirately needed to combat dry skin! I adore CeraVe products and use a cleanser by CeraVe in my evening skincare routine every night!

So, that is it ya'll! That is my morning skincar routine. Key products with effective active ingredients like the Salicylic Acid in the Zapzyt Acne Cleanser and the Benzoyl Peroxide in the Zapzyt Ance Treatment Gel make a huge difference in my skin!

I would love to hear about your skincare routines!
As always, thanks so much for reading.

XOXO!!!

Clear Skin Skincare Favorites: Featuring Zapzyt and more!

All opinions are my own.

Clear Skin Skincare Favorites:
Winter is a great time to focus on your skincare routine. Sure, I love trying new products. I am a beauty-blogger after all. However, when it comes to skincare, I rely on many tried-and-true long term favorites to keep my skin clear.

When I try out skincare products, I do so slowly and only add in one or two new products at a time. However, even with careful testing and good clear skin habits, I still occasionally have to deal with breakouts. So, if I am experiencing a lot of breakouts, I always go back to these clear skin favorites to get my skin back into shape and to clear it up. Some of these products rarely leave my skincare routine.

My Skin:
Before diving any further into my list of favorites, let me give you a little bit of background about my skin so you can know where I am coming from. My skin is somewhat sensitive and it leans to the oily side of the combination skin type. Most of my oiliness is in my t-zone area. My skin is generally clear. However, I am prone to clogged pores occasionally and do have the ocassional breakout as well (usually on my chin or right by my nose). I tend to gravitate towards products that are non-pore clogging and formulated for combination or oily skin. However, I have to be careful because of my sensitive skin. If I use products that are too harsh, my skin will rebound with redness and irritation bumps (no fun!). So, I especially have to be careful of exfoliating products.

Clear Skin Favorites:

Zapzyt | Acne Wash Cleanser
Zapzyt is one of my go-to brands for clear skin. I love that Zapzyt products are safe, effective, and economical. One of the stand out products in their line is the Acne Wash Cleanser. This clear gel cleanser contains 2% salicylic acid to help treat and prevent breakouts. I like to use this cleanser in the evening to give my skin a good deep clean. It rinses clean with no residue without irritating my sensitive skin. I just love it!

Zapzyt | Acne Treatment Gel:
Even with careful skincare, I do occasionally end up with the problem zit. For spot treatment, I swear by the Zapzyt Acne Treatment Gel. It contains 10% Benzoyl Peroxide to kill acne causing bacteria. In addition to spot treatment, I also apply a little tiny bit of this in the evenings (about 3-4x a week) to the areas that are prone to breakouts like my chin and near my nose (sometimes my hairline, too). If I use this too frequently, it can dry my skin. So, I try to use this just a few times a week preventatively or once a day if I am spot treating a zit.

Neutrogena | Hydro Boost Water Gel:
When my skin is breaking out, I make sure to switch to a light weight moisturizer that I know will not break me our nor clog my pores. I really like the entire Neutrogena Hydro Boost line. I especially enjoy using the Hydro Boost Water Gel moisturizer. Even acne-prone skin needs hydration! Plus, acne products can be drying and irritating. So, it is essential that you keep a moisturizer in your skincare routine...even if you are breaking out. This product really boosts your hydration and soothes any dry areas. The key ingredient in this moisturizer is HJyaluronic Acid which holds 1,000 times its weight in water and really draws water to your skin which hydrates and plumps your skin.

L'Oreal | Pure Clay Masks:
Nothing beats a clay mask to draw out impurities from your skin. I am pretty obcessed with masks and like to do a weekly mask treatment. When my skin is breaking out, I always use a clay mask. L'Oreal has a fantastic assortment of clay masks. Right now I am especially loving this Pure Clay Mask Clear & Comfort formula. This mask's key ingredients are clay to draw out impurities and seaweed to comfort the skin. After using this, my skin feels super soft and smooth! L'Oreal has quite a wide variety of masks. So, you can really pick your mask depending on your skin's exact needs at the moment.

Dermalogica | Overnight Retinol Repair 1%:
In terms of breakout prevention, I am a big believer in Vitamin A products like Retinol (or perscription strenght if you go to a dermatologist). Retinol does amazing things for your skin. Yes, it fights things like acne but also is effective with "age prevention". One of the most powerful over-the-counter vitamin A products that I have tried is Dermalogica's Overnight Retinol Repair 1%. It is super strong. So, it comes with a buffer cream. This way, you can mix more or less of the buffer cream depending on how sensitive your skin is. I usually use about 2 parts of the retinol and 1 part buffer cream.

So, those are my go-to current favorites for Clear Skin! What are yours? I would really love to hear!

As always, thanks for reading!
XOXO!!!

Treat Adult Acne Fast with ZAPZYT: Zap the Problem Zit with ZAPZYT
Raise your hand if you have struggled with Adult Acne (me: hand raised!). Adult acne can be so frustrating! In the past, I struggled with persistant breakouts as a teen. As an adult, my skin is clear the majority of the time. However, I do get that annoying stray zit from time-to-time. While I do not need a comprehensive anti-acne skincare routine all the time, I do need an arsenal of products that I can reach for when those pesky zits crop up. When I do have a breakout, I want to treat it and clear it up fast!

With ZAPZYT, I do not have to change my entire skincare routine to treat breakouts. I can just add in some super effective zit-fighters when they are needed. We all have those problem zits sometimes. So, why not treat them with ZAPZYT! ZAPZYT is proven to reduce the appearance of acne within 5 hours. ZAPZYT is a real soultion for real people. Nothing works faster to rid you of that problem zit.

For me, my breakouts appear to have a pattern. They arrive around that time of the month. So, during that week, I can just add in ZAPZYT products as needed to treat those breakouts quickly and effectively. I really love that I don't have to change my entire skincare routine to treat my occasional breakouts.

So, lets chat about the products that I am loving for zit treatment from ZAPZYT:
ZAPZYT has a great assortment of zit-fighting products that you can add into your skincare routine as needed during those pesky breakouts. You can pick which products work best for you and just use them as needed. The best part? These products all retail for around $5.00 each and are available at your local Walmart! 5

I just have to talk about this miracle product first! This is my new favorite spot treatment for pesky zits. The ZAPZYT Spot treatment gel's main ingredient is the Benzoyl peroxide which is effective for sensitive skin. I have always had good luck with Benzoyl Peroxide as it is an excellent and effective zit fighter. This gel contains 10% Benzoyl Peroxide which kills 99% of acne-causing bacteria. This product is so easy to add into my skincare routine. When I see a breakout, I just dab this on after washing my face in the mornings and the evenings. I tend to always get breakouts in the same area: my t-zone. So, during "that time of the month" I can just apply this as needed to my t-zone area to treat my breakouts quickly and effectively.

ZAPZYT Pore Treatment Gel:
This is a treatment gel designed to help people with sensitive skin. 2% Salicylic Acid is the active ingredient in this gel. ZAPZYT Pore Treatment Gel balances the active ingredient of Salicylic acid with calming aloe and Brazilian botanicals. Personally, I prefer the ZAPZYT Acne Treatment Gel with Benzoyl Peroxide as my primary spot treatment. However, this gel is a nice alternative and certainly a great option for those that don't tolerate Benzoyl Peroxide or prefer not to use it. It also contains Linoleic Acid to reduce inflammation and Aloe and Brazilian Botanicals to reduce redness.

ZAPZYT Acne Wash Cleanser:
I really like this cleanser! It is a great cleanser to whip out of my skincare arsneal when my skin is acting up around that time of the month. ZAPZYT Acne wash balances powerful Salicylic Acid with soothing aloe and chamomile. While it is too drying for me to use everyday, it is great for me to use when my skin is breaking out. It is Hypoallergenic cleanser, dye and fragrance free. It contains Aloe and Chamomile to soothe your skin and reduce redness. The active ingredient in this cleanser is 2% Salicylic Acid. Salicylic Acid cleansers are great to use on breakout prone skin as they provide exfoliation of your skin while unclogging pores and giving you a really deep cleanse.

ZAPZYT Pore Clearing Scrub:
When my skin is really acting up, this is a big boost to my anti-acne routine. ZAPZYT Pore Clearing Scrub has powerful 2% Salicylic acid and natural wax microbeads for exfoliation. This is a 2% Salicylic Acid based scrub. It also contains Tiny, NATURAL, wax microbeads for an exfoliating boost. So, this product contains both chemical exfoliant (the salicylic acid) and a mechanical exfoliant (the microbeads). This product is too powerful for me to use frequently. However, it is nice to have on hand for when breakouts are bad and I really need a powerful cleanser/exfoliant.

Best Acne Treatment at Walmart:
I have had such great luck with ZAPZYT for my occasional breakouts. Be sure to check it out next time you are at Walmart! ZAPZYT products are available online and at Walmart.
