Pampering Myself During My Monthly Cycle: 

Relaxation Tips and Routine, plus Pamprin! 

Hey girls! Y'all know how it goes...when it is "that time of the month", you can just feel crappy, right?!?! Bloating, irratibility, cramping, backaches, hormonal acne, increased sweating/odor, and more. Fun stuff, right, lol! ;) So, what is a girl to do? Personally, I like to take this time to really pamper and nuture myself. I think there are some key things that I do to feel better from the inside out during "that time of the month". So, I am excited to tell you a little bit about my monthly routine for when I have my cycle as well as some tips. 

Pampering Routine:

When I have my cycle, I certainly feel more exhausted and irriated in general. Plus, the bloating makes me feel like my clothes don't fit right and I just feel yucky in general in relation to my body. It is important for me to acknowledge that these things that are happening to my body are only temporary and to not dwell on any negatives about myself or my body during these times. Rather, I try to pamper myself instead. 

Bath with Essential Oil Products and Magnesium:

My favorite pampering routine is to take a nice bath in the evening, light some candles, play some music in the background and just soak for a bit in the tub. I will start off my relaxation routine by taking a Pamprin Maximum Strength or Pamprin Multi-Symptom, washing my face and applying a facial mask, and then taking my bath. 

A soothing bath can really help to alleviate any soreness and combats the increased odor and sweating that I get during that time as well. For a ultra theraputic bath, I like to include magnesium flakes or Epsom salts. These salts contain magnesium which absorb into the skin to promote relaxation and soothe soreness. Trust me, magnesium works and it is a mineral that we all need...especially during your monthly cycle! In addition to magnesium flakes or Epsom salts, I also like using bath oils, bubble baths, or bath/shower gel products that contain soothing Essential Oils. I really love the Kneipp bath products as they are natural, vegan, and packed with beneficial essential oils. I have used a varitey of products from this line and really love everything across the board. My newest additions to my bathtime routine from Kneipp are the Vitalizing Body Wash and the Pure Relaxation Bath Oil. So soothing and relaxing to use these. Plus, my skin feels super hydrated and smooth after my baths. 

Facial Mask:

To combat my increased facial oil and hormonal acne, I like to do facial masks to give my skin some intensive treatments. I either wash my face and apply a facial mask before my bath, or I apply my facial mask after my bath/or shower. I am constantly trying out new masks as facials are one of my favorite categories of beauty products! There are so many great masks, it is hard for me to choose favorites. Generally, I opt for clarifying/clay masks or soothing/hydrating gel or sheet masks. Sometimes I will layer a sheet mask after a clarifying mask so that I get the pore purification of a clay mask and then the soothing properites of the hydrating mask. I tend to break out during my monthly cycle. So, I almost always need to use a clarifying mud-based mask. Plus, when I increase my acne treatments, my skin gets more irriated from the active acne-fighters. So, a soothing and hydrating mask is a must, too. 

I am super excited about these new masks from Clean & Clear's Night Relaxing Collection of Products. The Night Relaxing Detox Clay Mask is a perfect treatment for my hormonal acne-prone skin. It really draws out the impurities in the skin and helps my skin to stay clear and feel clarified. The Night Relaxing Jelly Eye Sheet Mask is a super gentle partial sheet mask for the eye and forehead area. This mask has some fantastic moisturizing and soothing ingredients that are totally non-irritating which makes it perfect for my sensitive skin which gets dried out from acne treatments and prescription topicals. 

Fighting Pain, Bloating, Craming, and more with Pamprin: 

I find that the bloating and cramping during my monthly cycle are greatly alleviated by taking a Pamprin Multi-Symptom. Pamprin Multi-Symptom is not just pain. Pamprin Multi-Symptom contains three key active ingredients to fight a wide range of period-related complaints: an antihistamine to relieve irritability, a diuretic to fight against bloating and water weight gain, and a pain reliever to alleviate cramps, headaches, backaches, and muscular aches. Tea Time and Journaling:

Last, but not least, I like to follow up my bath with some tea time and journaling. Quiet time is very soothing for me. Taking time with the ritual of making and steeping tea and letting it cool while drinking it is a very soothing process. I just love trying new teas! I am particularly loving the Good Earth loose Peppermint Treat tea. It has not only delicious peppermint (my favorite herbal tea, btw), but also pink peppercorn, safflower petals, and white chocolate shavings. I have literally never seen white chocolate shavings in an herbal tea blend before. I think I even might have squealed when I opened up the tin to see the yummy chocolate, lol! I am a nut. I infuse this tea in my Bodum tea infuser for about 4-5 minutes. Then I just relax and enjoy my tea and do some journaling. I am really loving the Woodstock Dot Journal by Quiet Fox, a new imprint from Fox Chapel Publishing. The Woodstock anniversary journal appeals to my inner hippie and helps to provide some inspiration for my journaling. I like using this journal specifically for lists, images, and quotes to provide inspiration!

This time of year, I really focus on bath and body products and skincare. When it is cold outside, a nice warm bath or shower is just the perfect way to start your day or pick you up. I have watched Zoella aka Zoe Sugg for years on her YouTube channel. I just love her perky and fun videos and vlogs! Her product line, Zoella Beauty, has recently expanded to the USA from the UK! I have wanted to try her products for years and am so excited that you can now find her Zoella Beauty bath and body products at your local Target or Ulta store!

For this review, I tried out a few of her core collection items that are currently available at Target. OMG, these products are adorable! The packaging is just ridiculously cute. Everything about this line is whimsical and fun. The products really feel like such a decadent treat to use! These items make such great gifts because of the super fun packaging...or, just as a treat for yourself. :)

Zoella Beauty: Core Collection at Target:

Zoella Beauty | Soap Pop Fragranced Soap on a Stick:

OMG! This is the cutest thing ever. It is a soap on a stick that is packaged like a popsicle! There is actually even a sticker on it saying "do not eat" because I could honestly see someone getting confused as it really does look like a popsicle. Not only is this soap cute, but also it contains some really nice skin-loving ingredients like Vitamin E, Shea Butter and Aloe. As you use the soap up, you will discover a "secret" message from Zoe written on the stick. Cute little bit of flair! I find that this soap lathers pretty well and it leaves my skin feeling nicely hydrated.

This is such a nice light, fresh, and floral body mist. Scents like this are perfect for Summer as I only like wearing really light and fresh scents in the warm (and often Hot!) Spring and Summer seasons.

This is a fresh and floral bubble bath in a super cute container. I just love taking baths and using this bath soak makes my bath an extra treat. Plus, I love the look of this cute container on my tub! The formula contains extracts of Vitmain E, Aloe and Shea Butter. So, not only is this cute and nicely scented, but it also leaves your skin feeling soft and smooth.

New Scent: Frosted Plum:
What a lovely new scent for Wintertime! This is an elegant blend of ripe plum, magnolia, and peony. I like that this scent is fruity and fresh without being overly sweet. It is just right! Items available include Body Butter, Bath Fizzers, Sugar Scrub, Body Lotion, and Shower Gel. I got to try out the Shower Gel and the Bath Fizzers and I just adore them! I take lots of baths in the Winter as well as long showers. So, bath products are always an ideal gift for be to both give and to receive. In addition to this awesome new Frosted Plum scent, the Body Shop has also just introduced Frosted Cranberry and Glazed Apple.

Fuji Green Tea Ultimate Collection:
Wow! What a gorgeous gift set. It all comes wrapped up with a big red bow in a cute green cylindar box: no need for additional wrapping. :) This box includes so many products to indulge in! This collection was inspired by the traditional Japanese green tea ceremony. The scent is refreshing and reviving. Perfect for Winter as well as year-round! The scent contains everything you need to envelope yourself in this lovely scent: Fuji Green Tea Eau de Cologne, Fuju Green Tea Body Scrub, Fuji Green Tea Body Wash, Fuji Green Tea Body Butter, Fuji Green Tea Body Sorbet, and Fuji Green Tea Body Lotion. Scrub-a-dub dub! What is in my tub? Elizabeth Grant's Island Coconut

Mmm! Coconut!!! For this time of year, nothing beats tropical scents...especially coconut! My bath and shower products have certainly been leaning towards fruity, tropical, and coconut scents lately.

Right now I am loving this set from Elizabeth Grand Skincare. This bath set contains Shower Gel, Body Lotion, and Body Scrub in the Island Coconut scent.

Packaging:
The set is packaged in a decorative box. This would be so cute for a gift (or a gift for yourself!). The bottles of lotion and shower gel and jar of scrub have a pretty floral/island theme print. Super cute! I like that the lotion and shower gel have a pump. These products would be great to put out for house guests as the products are lovely to look at and use!

The Scent:
The Island Coconut scent is a soft creamy coconut scent. While noticeable in the products and on your skin, it is not over-powering (nor is it headache inducing). It is a soft and wearable coconut scent!

• Island Coconut Body Lotion: Smooth as coconut milk, nourish your skin in one caress with this soft and creamy body lotion. Your skin will be left more hydrated and feel like silk, with the sensual aroma of coconut. This body lotion is on the thicker side for a body lotion. It is not nearly as thick as a body cream; but, it does have more thickness than most of my body lotions.

• Island Coconut Body Scrub: Unleash a softer, smoother and more even toned complexion with this gentle exfoliator, enriched with tropical extract. Polish the skin to a more velvety and radiant look. The body scrub is a thick salt-based paste in a jar. It has nourishing ingredients like shea butter and oils. This scrub leaves behind a very slight oil residue that keeps you moisturized. The oily residue sinks in and does not leave you feeling greasy (like many other salt scrubs do).

• Island Coconut Shower Gel: This serene shower gel leaves your skin cleansed and as smooth as coconut milk, letting you escape to the visions of sand and surf as you shower. I like using this shower gel with a big fluffy body pouf. The pearly gel is lathers well and smells great!
