Pampering Myself During My Monthly Cycle:
Relaxation Tips and Routine, plus Pamprin

Hey girls! Y'all know how it goes...when it is "that time of the month", you can just feel crappy, right?!?! Bloating, irratibility, cramping, backaches, hormonal acne, increased sweating/odor, and more. Fun stuff, right, lol! ;) So, what is a girl to do? Personally, I like to take this time to really pamper and nuture myself. I think there are some key things that I do to feel better from the inside out during "that time of the month". So, I am excited to tell you a little bit about my monthly routine for when I have my cycle as well as some tips.

Pampering Routine:
When I have my cycle, I certainly feel more exhausted and irriated in general. Plus, the bloating makes me feel like my clothes don't fit right and I just feel yucky in general in relation to my body. It is important for me to acknowledge that these things that are happening to my body are only temporary and to not dwell on any negatives about myself or my body during these times. Rather, I try to pamper myself instead.

Bath with Essential Oil Products and Magnesium:
My favorite pampering routine is to take a nice bath in the evening, light some candles, play some music in the background and just soak for a bit in the tub. I will start off my relaxation routine by taking a Pamprin Maximum Strength or Pamprin Multi-Symptom, washing my face and applying a facial mask, and then taking my bath.

A soothing bath can really help to alleviate any soreness and combats the increased odor and sweating that I get during that time as well. For a ultra theraputic bath, I like to include magnesium flakes or Epsom salts. These salts contain magnesium which absorb into the skin to promote relaxation and soothe soreness. Trust me, magnesium works and it is a mineral that we all need...especially during your monthly cycle! In addition to magnesium flakes or Epsom salts, I also like using bath oils, bubble baths, or bath/shower gel products that contain soothing Essential Oils. I really love the Kneipp bath products as they are natural, vegan, and packed with beneficial essential oils. I have used a varitey of products from this line and really love everything across the board. My newest additions to my bathtime routine from Kneipp are the Vitalizing Body Wash and the Pure Relaxation Bath Oil. So soothing and relaxing to use these. Plus, my skin feels super hydrated and smooth after my baths.

Facial Mask:
To combat my increased facial oil and hormonal acne, I like to do facial masks to give my skin some intensive treatments. I either wash my face and apply a facial mask before my bath, or I apply my facial mask after my bath/or shower. I am constantly trying out new masks as facials are one of my favorite categories of beauty products! There are so many great masks, it is hard for me to choose favorites. Generally, I opt for clarifying/clay masks or soothing/hydrating gel or sheet masks. Sometimes I will layer a sheet mask after a clarifying mask so that I get the pore purification of a clay mask and then the soothing properites of the hydrating mask. I tend to break out during my monthly cycle. So, I almost always need to use a clarifying mud-based mask. Plus, when I increase my acne treatments, my skin gets more irriated from the active acne-fighters. So, a soothing and hydrating mask is a must, too.

I am super excited about these new masks from Clean & Clear's Night Relaxing Collection of Products. The Night Relaxing Detox Clay Mask is a perfect treatment for my hormonal acne-prone skin. It really draws out the impurities in the skin and helps my skin to stay clear and feel clarified. The Night Relaxing Jelly Eye Sheet Mask is a super gentle partial sheet mask for the eye and forehead area. This mask has some fantastic moisturizing and soothing ingredients that are totally non-irritating which makes it perfect for my sensitive skin which gets dried out from acne treatments and prescription topicals.

Fighting Pain, Bloating, Craming, and more with Pamprin
I find that the bloating and cramping during my monthly cycle are greatly alleviated by taking a Pamprin Multi-Symptom. Pamprin Multi-Symptom is not just pain. Pamprin Multi-Symptom contains three key active ingredients to fight a wide range of period-related complaints: an antihistamine to relieve irritability, a diuretic to fight against bloating and water weight gain, and a pain reliever to alleviate cramps, headaches, backaches, and muscular aches. So, I know that when I pop a Pamprin Multi-Symptom during my period that I am going to help to fight a multitude of period issues right off the bat. Pamprin is my go-to medicine for period related compaints as Pamprin helps to alleviate and cure ALL the pains of PMS! Plus, did you know that Pamprin Multi-Symptom is the same strength as Extra Strength Tylenol plus it has the added benefits of fighting against bloating and irritability? So, it really does more for me than just taking an Extra Strength Tylenol.

Tea Time and Journaling:
Last, but not least, I like to follow up my bath with some tea time and journaling. Quiet time is very soothing for me. Taking time with the ritual of making and steeping tea and letting it cool while drinking it is a very soothing process. I just love trying new teas! I am particularly loving the Good Earth loose Peppermint Treat tea. It has not only delicious peppermint (my favorite herbal tea, btw), but also pink peppercorn, safflower petals, and white chocolate shavings. I have literally never seen white chocolate shavings in an herbal tea blend before. I think I even might have squealed when I opened up the tin to see the yummy chocolate, lol! I am a nut. I infuse this tea in my Bodum tea infuser for about 4-5 minutes. Then I just relax and enjoy my tea and do some journaling. I am really loving the Woodstock Dot Journal by Quiet Fox, a new imprint from Fox Chapel Publishing. The Woodstock anniversary journal appeals to my inner hippie and helps to provide some inspiration for my journaling. I like using this journal specifically for lists, images, and quotes to provide inspiration!

What do you do to treat your PMS and to pamper yourself during your monthly cycle? I would love to hear! I just love using Pamprin and totally recommend it for PMS Treatment during your monthly cycle.

21-Days of Positive Thinking: My Pamprin Positivity Challenge Update:

Hey beauties! Do your remember me telling you about my 21-Days of Positive Thinking Challenge with Pamprin and the PRIMP Network? Well, I am super excited to give you an update on how the challenge is going. If you missed my previous post, please be sure to check it out here.

Positive thinking is everything. It lays the foundation for how we percieve the world from the inside out. Positive thinking is powerful and it must start with ourselves. Simple, yet profound, acts of positive thinking and self-care can set off a beautiful ripple effect. We must first love and care for ourselves in order to love and care for others. Let's face it, when we feel beautiful and poistive on the inside, we can accomplish great things on the outside!

As an eternal optimist, this challenge really resonated with me from day 1. I am constantly striving and seeking positivity. It makes a huge difference in all aspects of my life. I am sensitive and an empath. So, I tend to soak up the emotions and energies around me. So, it is quintessential that I put out positive energy! This can be challenging sometimes when I am tired, stressed, or overwhelmed with the world around me. So, I must be intentional. I must make a "date" with myself to pour into myself. I spend so much time pouring into others, that I need to make sure that my own cup is "full". Does this make sense?

So, when I partnered with Pamprin and the PRIMP Network to take the 21-Day Postive Thinking Challenge, I was ready to dive right in! This is exactly the type of external motivation that I needed! Honestly, I am so thankful! Life can be crazy, right? I am in the midst of a lot of change in all aspects of life. So, I really needed this.

Pamprin is a brand that wants to nurture and encourage women. As their brand name suggests, they are about "Pampering" women...and, let's face it ladies, we all need a little of that, right?

What did I discover from this 21-Day Positive Thinking Challenge?
This challenge really illustrated for me that the time that I use to pour into myself manifests with results that I can see and feel. I know that I am my best self when I am taking good care of myself...from the inside out. From healthy eating, to positive self-talk, to overall self-care... these are the things that make me feel good on the inside and this radiates outwards. When I am feeling good from the inside-out, I can better radiate that positive energy to others. That is such a goal of mine! There is nothing that I want more than to pour positive energy into the lives of those around me.

What worked? Simple Hacks for adding Positivity to your Day:

Use Visuals or a Calander:
Pamprin certainly set up the 21-Positive Thinking Challenge for success by giving a simple visual calander to follow. I literally set this up right by my desk to inspire me on a daily basis. I followed their plan and it worked! Moving forward, I can continue to cycle through Pamprin's 8 day cycle and/or I can create my own calander. There are many daily grattitude calanders available online or you can even make your own. Be creative and get inspired! Make it a daily practice.

Prioritize your "Me Time":
I know what you are thining, It is HARD to find that extra time for yourself...but it is doable. You just have to be intentional about it and stick to it! This time is important. Think of it as a date with yourself. Make it an appointment. Put it on your calander. Do not push this time to the side. Make it a priority. It might take some planning ahead and intentional scheduling. Try things like...getting up early, having your husband watch kids when he gets home from work so you can do yoga or go for a walk solo. In the evenings, rather than randomly watching tv or getting on social media, read an inspirational book or do a devotional study. Yes, these activities take time. However, they are inspirational! I find that adding extra time for devotional studies, meditation, quite time, and daily affirmations/grattitue has actually given me the energy and inspiration that I need to give my day a lift!

Daily Affirmations, Grattitude Lists...and using Instagram:
Finding daily affirmations and making gratitiude lists were my favorite parts of the challenge...and guess what? I have now made it a habit to visit these two practices on a daily basis! It is so quick and easy and such an inspirational start to my day. Instagram has been a great medium and tool for myself during this challenge. I like to search hashtags for #dailyinspiration, #mantras, #selflove, and #inspirationalquotes. I often repost these or post my own quotes and photos to inspire myself and hopefully have an impact on those who follow me there. If you are not already, please hop over to Instagram and follow me! I would love to interact with you more there! Also, I am doing another fun challenge (and sharing it on Instagram) to get outside and "ground" myself daily. Being outside is such a simple thing...but it makes such a tremendous impact on my spirit. It only takes minutes to step outside and feel the sunshine, or the rain, or the breeze. This sensory experience can really shift your focus in a more positive direction. I know it sure has that impact for me!

Here are some of the Inspirational Quotes and Mantras that I created and shared on Instagram:

Simple Acts of Self-Care:
Simple acts of self-care can make such a tremendous impact on how you feel from the inside-out! My simple acts of self-care include: yoga, meditation, a tea or coffee break, evening facials, my morning and evening beauty routines (as a beauty blogger, beauty and self care relax me!), staying ahead of aches and pain, and getting to bed early or on-time.  These simple acts of self-care can give you a break and a refreshing boost or a relaxing vibe for the rest of the day or evening.

Having a stressful day? Feeling negativity creep in? Take a coffee break! Feeling achy or is it that-time-of-the-month, then stay ahead of the pain and bloating and take a Pamprin for relief! Feeling blah or not-so-pretty, then give yourself a boost with a facial or spa-like bath! Exhausted at the end of the day? Dive into your evening beauty routine early and then head to bed with an inspirational read. All of these practices have absolutely contributed to more positivity in my life!

I am so extremely happy that I took part in this 21-Days of Positive Thinking Challenge with Pamprin and the PRIMP Network. There is no question that I have benefitted from embracing positivity from the inside out. Not only were my first 21-days successful, but also I feel that I created an ongoing life-lone habit that involves positive thinking and positive self-care! Do this for yourselves ladies. You will not be sorry! Be the light that feels positive energy from within and radiates it outwards.

Sending you much love and positivity!
XOXO

Positive Thinking Challenge: 21-Days of Positive Powerful Thinking with PRIMP and Pamprin:

Positive thinking is a very powerful thing. I am a big believer in this. Our experiences and our world is shaped by the way we percieve it. This starts with ourselves. Simple, yet profound, acts of positive thinking and self-care can set off a beautiful ripple effect. We must first love and care for ourselves in order to love and care for others. Let's face it, when we feel beautiful and poistive on the inside, we can accomplish great things on the outside! As an eternal optimist and seeker of self-love, I am so excited about putting more positive vibes out in the world!

I am so excited to partner with PRIMP and Pamprin to promote overall well-being through the power of positive thinking with their 21-DAYS OF POSITIVITY Challenge. As the brand name suggests, Pamprin is a brand that wants women to "pamper" themselves...they want women to take good care of themselves. I know that I feel that I am my best self when I am taking good care of myself...from the inside out. From healthy eating, to positive self-talk, to overall self-care, these are the things that make me feel good on the inside and this radiates outwards.

As a Power Primper with the PRIMP Network, I am a part of a group of fantastic women bloggers. PRIMP wants to collectively inspire women to love themselves. Lets all show the world how to treat us by revealing how we treat ourselves. So, lets encourage each other to change our inner dialogues. Lets replace those inner voices that critique and replace them with positive self-talk. Yes, this is sometimes hard to do. We are often our own worst critic. That is what I love about this challenge so much! It gives simple daily thought starters. Positive thinking is a habit. So, lets challenge ourselves to keep up the positive self dialogue! This is seriously life-changing. Let's set off a beautiful ripple effect with our self-love and positive self-care.

21 Days Makes a Positivity Habit: The Challenge! #BePositivePamprin
I am so excited to partner with PRIMP and Pamprin with this awesome challenge. So, I am going to invite you to join in the 21-DAYS OF POSITIVITY, too! Repeat this 7-day cycle (see pic above) 3 times. Habits form after 3-weeks of consistent and intentional effort. I am amazed at how this has already changed my mind-set. Just think...what we can accomplish when we approach our next 21 days with unwavering optimism? I am excited to see!!!

My Personal Optimism Plan:
I find that the best way to embrace positive self-talk is to start my day off positive first thing in the morning. I am doing a modified version of "Miracle Morning". I enjoy this morning time with myself for positive self-reflection. It is like a little gift of time with myself. I get up about 10 minutes early and have my morning coffee or tea, grab my journal and my pen...and I try to get everything started for the day on a positive note!

Miracle Morning:
  • Silence: Meditation, Deep Breathing, or Prayer
  • Affirmations: Time for positive mantras! I have a pinboard, favorite Instagram hashtags I follow, and saved printouts of my favorite positive mantras that I read through.
  • Visualization: See yourself doing positive things! You can accomplish what you set your mind to. See yourself realizing your full potential!
  • Exercise: Okay, this is where I modify the Miracle Morning routine. As much as I would LOVE to excercise every morning, there is simply no time. So, I always make a plan for myself for later in the day to be active.
  • Reading: Read something inspirational for a few minutes.
  • Scribing: Keep a journal! Track your thoughts and progress.

What to do with those pesky negative thoughts?
Despite my best efforts, sometimes those negative thoughts interfere. Yes, I will admit that sometimes this happens daily. So, what can we do about that? How do we get back to that Happy Zone? Well, I think that the first step is awareness. You can identify your negative thinking and make an effort to push those thoughts away. Replace them with a positive. Sometimes it just takes a moment for you to realize that you are having a bad moment. Take a break, take a breath, and try to turn it around. Most importantly, be kind to yourself! Don't get mad at yourself for letting those negative thoughts intrude. We must be gentle with ourselves. We are human after all and it will take time to get into a positive mind-set.

For me the best way to turn my mood around is to get outside. I love the grounding energy that I get from being outdoors (be sure to check out my Instagram for my daily grounding challenge to get outside and get barefooted daily!).

I find that those negative thoughts tend to intrude more when I am tired, worn out, or when it is "that time of the month". Yes, those hormonal fluxuations that accompany PMS are certainly hard to deal with. Yes, we all know what a drag PMS can be. So, this is when positive thinking is that much more important! Track your cycle and anticipate that you might have to focus your postive energy even more purposefully during "that time of the month". Lets have a mission to replace the "drag" in PMS with something uplifting and inspiring!

Plus, durning PMS, taking Pamprin can help to alleviate some of your discomfort so you can focus on going back to being positive!

I personally like taking Pamprin Multi-Symptom during PMS. It contains three active ingredients: an antihistamine (to relieve irritability), a diuretic (to fight against bloating and water weight gain), and a pain reliever (to alleviate cramps). So, Pamprin Multi-Symptom helps to treats a variety of PMS and menstrual symptoms such bloating, pain and cramps, and irritability. It does not just treat the pain of cramps, it does much more! Plus, Pamprin Multi-Symptom has the same strength medicine as Extra Strength Tylenol PLUS the added benefits of fighting against bloating and irritability. So, with Pamprin, you get much more than just pain relief. You are treating all the symptoms related with PMS and your menstrual cycle.

I encourage all of you to join in with this 21-Days of Positive Powerful thinking with PRIMP and Pamprin! I think that they key thing here is consistent and intentional effort with our positive thoughts. Positive thoughts are transformative. Lets inspire others and let the positivity flow! We’ll all be AMAZED  by what we can accomplish indivicually and collectively. Lets change our mind-sets. Lets turn away from those negative thoughts and replace them with self-love.  approach our next 21 days with unwavering optimism. You can do it girls! Be positive, be intentional. Love yourself and watch it overflow. It is amazing!!!
