Winter is the time to up your skincare game! I like to give my skin lots of TLC in the winter. From super moisturizing products to anti-aging ingredients and brightening Vit C. Then I follow up with a sVitabrid C12 Sheet Mask. I let it sit on my skin while I soak in the tub. Then when my bath is done, I simply remove and smooth in any remaining serum into my skin.

One of my most consistant acts of self care is my weekly "spa night" at home. My activities for spa night vary. From facial masks, to nail painting, to long baths...it is all enjoyable me-time. 

Facial masks give a great 1-2 punch as they are both relaxing as well as beneficial for your skin! When I approach my mask selection for a given evening, I think "what does my skin need today?". Is it dry? Broken out? Lacking glow? Also, I like to think of what ingredient my skincare routine might have been lacking that week. 

So, needless to say, I am always looking for great masks for my weekly me-time spa night! ;) Sure, I mask more often if I need to. However, at least once a week, I mask.

Have you see these cute kitten-themed masks from I Dew Care at ULTA? OMG, the are adorable! Forever the kid-at-heart, give me a little whimsy and I am all about it! These masks are certainly that...whimsical, fun, and so cute. For me, getting excited about a product makes me want to use it. As much as I love self-care and self-pampering, sometimes I put it off because I am "too tired". Well, the cute factor of these masks seems to prompt me to want to treat myself! The result? When I mask more frequently, I really do see the increased benefit in my skin. 

So let's dive right into these adorable masks from I Dew Care! Here is some info about each mask from the brand and how I liked it! :) 

I Dew Care | Headbands:

What is the first step when facial masking? Getting that hair pulled back! The process is just that much more cute and fun with these Bear and Kitty-themed headbands. Yes, my daughter totally wants to steal this black kitty headband for me (and I think I will just go ahead and let her, lol!). These are adorable and they work great to pull your hair back so that you can mask effectively without worries about your hair. ;) These retail for $6.00.

This one is so fun to apply. I mean, it is a black sparkly mask. How fun! Sure, the glitter is not necessary. However, there is a fun factor here that is undeniable. Also, as I mentioned above, half of the process of doing spa-treatments at home are the relaxation and fun factor. If I deem a mask to be fun and enjoyable, then that is at least part of the benefit! A "fun" mask will motivate me to use it more. 

This mask is a charcaol, topaz, and diamond powder infused- peel off mask that shimmers with royal blue glitter for an out-of-this-world galactic black look. Volcanic ash and witch hazel team up to exfoliate skin, absorb impurities and control sebum revealing a noticeably brighter complexion.

This is a great mask to use when you feel like you need to purify, exfoliate, absorb oil, and brighten your skin.

• TOPAZ + DIAMOND POWDER: Gently exfoliate + visibly brighten

These masks are super easy and fun to use. Here is what I do:

• Wash face with gentle cleanser
• Pat dry
• Apply a generous amount of an I Dew Care mask to your face avoiding lips and eye area. 
• Relax and leave on for 5-10 minutes. Seriously, the relaxing part is key for a total home spa experience. Make yourself some herbal tea, some lemon water, or if you are feeling for something with more kick, maybe some wine ;) 
• Rinse off with tepid water and smooth strokes with your hands. 

I honestly like and need all of these masks in my collection. With my tempermental combo skin, my mask needs vary. Sometimes my skin is irritated and I need something soothing and hydrating, sometimes my skin seems super oily and blemish prone, and sometimes I want a mask with an anti-aging kick. Well, with these three masks, I have a mask product to target all of those skincare troubles. So, I can't pick a favorite of these. I honestly enjoy them all. I will note, they are heavily fragranced. So, just keep in mind if fragrance bothers you. Sometimes fragrance irritates me in skincare, but I did not get irritated from these masks. While the fragrance is significant in these, they are enjoyable scents. I particularly like the berry scent of the Berry Groovy mask!

My Skin:

My skin has been *so dry* lately. There has been a stretch of unusually cold weather for Georgia and this has wreaked havoc on my skin. Normally, my skin is combo with mostly normal skin with some oilyness in the t-zone and some dry areas from using Retin-A. I combat the dryness and sensitivity from Retin-A use by using very good and very gentle products. This normally works for me. However, with the extra cold weather, even my fantastic and gentle skincare routine could not hold back the dry flaky skin. So, I decided to look into my arsenal of products for something extra moisturizing and soothing, and I stumbled upon this mask: the Osmosis Tropical Mango Barrier Recovery Mask. I figured it was just what I needed because the dry flaky skin probably means that my skin barrier is compromised. So, I gave it a try and...wow! Instant results.

Wow! This mask is amazing! It hydrates and soothes and literally transforms my dry, flaky, and irritated skin. I have literally discovered a new Holy Grail skincare favorite. Now, that does not happen every day. Since discovering this mask, I am now using it weekly as a moisture boost and barrier treatment. This mask allows me to soothe my dehydrated and irritated skin with a creamy, mango scented mask that is rich in fruit and nut butters. 

What are the results that I can see? Instant hydration, instant soothing, and no more dry flakes. It transforms my skin from being dry, flaky, and irritated to being smooth, hydrated, and super soft. In less than ten minutes, it soothes and repairs. I just LOVE it!

Pampering Myself During My Monthly Cycle: 

Relaxation Tips and Routine, plus Pamprin! 

Hey girls! Y'all know how it goes...when it is "that time of the month", you can just feel crappy, right?!?! Bloating, irratibility, cramping, backaches, hormonal acne, increased sweating/odor, and more. Fun stuff, right, lol! ;) So, what is a girl to do? Personally, I like to take this time to really pamper and nuture myself. I think there are some key things that I do to feel better from the inside out during "that time of the month". So, I am excited to tell you a little bit about my monthly routine for when I have my cycle as well as some tips. 

Pampering Routine:

When I have my cycle, I certainly feel more exhausted and irriated in general. Plus, the bloating makes me feel like my clothes don't fit right and I just feel yucky in general in relation to my body. It is important for me to acknowledge that these things that are happening to my body are only temporary and to not dwell on any negatives about myself or my body during these times. Rather, I try to pamper myself instead. 

Bath with Essential Oil Products and Magnesium:

My favorite pampering routine is to take a nice bath in the evening, light some candles, play some music in the background and just soak for a bit in the tub. I will start off my relaxation routine by taking a Pamprin Maximum Strength or Pamprin Multi-Symptom, washing my face and applying a facial mask, and then taking my bath. 

A soothing bath can really help to alleviate any soreness and combats the increased odor and sweating that I get during that time as well. For a ultra theraputic bath, I like to include magnesium flakes or Epsom salts. These salts contain magnesium which absorb into the skin to promote relaxation and soothe soreness. Trust me, magnesium works and it is a mineral that we all need...especially during your monthly cycle! In addition to magnesium flakes or Epsom salts, I also like using bath oils, bubble baths, or bath/shower gel products that contain soothing Essential Oils. I really love the Kneipp bath products as they are natural, vegan, and packed with beneficial essential oils. I have used a varitey of products from this line and really love everything across the board. My newest additions to my bathtime routine from Kneipp are the Vitalizing Body Wash and the Pure Relaxation Bath Oil. So soothing and relaxing to use these. Plus, my skin feels super hydrated and smooth after my baths. 

Facial Mask:

To combat my increased facial oil and hormonal acne, I like to do facial masks to give my skin some intensive treatments. I either wash my face and apply a facial mask before my bath, or I apply my facial mask after my bath/or shower. I am constantly trying out new masks as facials are one of my favorite categories of beauty products! There are so many great masks, it is hard for me to choose favorites. Generally, I opt for clarifying/clay masks or soothing/hydrating gel or sheet masks. Sometimes I will layer a sheet mask after a clarifying mask so that I get the pore purification of a clay mask and then the soothing properites of the hydrating mask. I tend to break out during my monthly cycle. So, I almost always need to use a clarifying mud-based mask. Plus, when I increase my acne treatments, my skin gets more irriated from the active acne-fighters. So, a soothing and hydrating mask is a must, too. 

I am super excited about these new masks from Clean & Clear's Night Relaxing Collection of Products. The Night Relaxing Detox Clay Mask is a perfect treatment for my hormonal acne-prone skin. It really draws out the impurities in the skin and helps my skin to stay clear and feel clarified. The Night Relaxing Jelly Eye Sheet Mask is a super gentle partial sheet mask for the eye and forehead area. This mask has some fantastic moisturizing and soothing ingredients that are totally non-irritating which makes it perfect for my sensitive skin which gets dried out from acne treatments and prescription topicals. 

Fighting Pain, Bloating, Craming, and more with Pamprin: 

I find that the bloating and cramping during my monthly cycle are greatly alleviated by taking a Pamprin Multi-Symptom. Pamprin Multi-Symptom is not just pain. Tea Time and Journaling:

Last, but not least, I like to follow up my bath with some tea time and journaling. Quiet time is very soothing for me. Taking time with the ritual of making and steeping tea and letting it cool while drinking it is a very soothing process. I just love trying new teas! I am particularly loving the Good Earth loose Peppermint Treat tea. It has not only delicious peppermint (my favorite herbal tea, btw), but also pink peppercorn, safflower petals, and white chocolate shavings. I have literally never seen white chocolate shavings in an herbal tea blend before. I think I even might have squealed when I opened up the tin to see the yummy chocolate, lol! I am a nut. I infuse this tea in my Bodum tea infuser for about 4-5 minutes. Then I just relax and enjoy my tea and do some journaling. I am really loving the Woodstock Dot Journal by Quiet Fox, a new imprint from Fox Chapel Publishing. The Woodstock anniversary journal appeals to my inner hippie and helps to provide some inspiration for my journaling. I like using this journal specifically for lists, images, and quotes to provide inspiration!
