I just have to talk about this miracle product first! This is my new favorite spot treatment for pesky zits. The ZAPZYT Spot treatment gel's main ingredient is the Benzoyl peroxide which is effective for sensitive skin. I have always had good luck with Benzoyl Peroxide as it is an excellent and effective zit fighter. This gel contains 10% Benzoyl Peroxide which kills 99% of acne-causing bacteria. This product is so easy to add into my skincare routine. When I see a breakout, I just dab this on after washing my face in the mornings and the evenings. I tend to always get breakouts in the same area: my t-zone. So, during "that time of the month" I can just apply this as needed to my t-zone area to treat my breakouts quickly and effectively. 

ZAPZYT Pore Treatment Gel:
This is a treatment gel designed to help people with sensitive skin. 2% Salicylic Acid is the active ingredient in this gel. ZAPZYT Pore Treatment Gel balances the active ingredient of Salicylic acid with calming aloe and Brazilian botanicals. Personally, I prefer the ZAPZYT Acne Treatment Gel with Benzoyl Peroxide as my primary spot treatment. However, this gel is a nice alternative and certainly a great option for those that don't tolerate Benzoyl Peroxide or prefer not to use it. It also contains Linoleic Acid to reduce inflammation and Aloe and Brazilian Botanicals to reduce redness. 

ZAPZYT Acne Wash Cleanser:
I really like this cleanser! It is a great cleanser to whip out of my skincare arsneal when my skin is acting up around that time of the month. ZAPZYT Acne wash balances powerful Salicylic Acid with soothing aloe and chamomile. While it is too drying for me to use everyday, it is great for me to use when my skin is breaking out. It is Hypoallergenic cleanser, dye and fragrance free. It contains Aloe and Chamomile to soothe your skin and reduce redness. The active ingredient in this cleanser is 2% Salicylic Acid. Salicylic Acid cleansers are great to use on breakout prone skin as they provide exfoliation of your skin while unclogging pores and giving you a really deep cleanse. 

ZAPZYT Pore Clearing Scrub:
When my skin is really acting up, this is a big boost to my anti-acne routine. ZAPZYT Pore Clearing Scrub has powerful 2% Salicylic acid and natural wax microbeads for exfoliation. This is a 2% Salicylic Acid based scrub. It also contains Tiny, NATURAL, wax microbeads for an exfoliating boost. So, this product contains both chemical exfoliant (the salicylic acid) and a mechanical exfoliant (the microbeads). This product is too powerful for me to use frequently. However, it is nice to have on hand for when breakouts are bad and I really need a powerful cleanser/exfoliant.

I just love a good scrub! So, I am very excited to tell you guys about this awesome new product from one of my favorite natural skincare brands: LATHER!

This super gentle exfoliator is a non-foaming and moisturizing facial scrub that was designed for normal-to-dry or mature skin. I am happy to report that while I have neither "mature" skin (well, maybe I do as I am in my early 40s) nor normal-to-dry (I am currently combo-oily), this product still works fabulously for me! Actually, I really adore using it! 

First of all, OMG...the scent! I absolutely love the refreshingly fruity scent of this scrub. Plus, the gel texture combined with the scrubbiness of the chia seeds really gives an awesome sensation when you are gently massaging it on your skin. It really gives you an amazing spa-like facial treatment right in your own bathroom.

How I Use:

LATHER recommends that the Chia Seed & Passion Fruit Exfoliating Gel be used about 2-3 times a week. For my somewhat sensitive skin, I find that 2 times a week is just perfect. It gives me a fantastic boost of exfoliation without being "too much" for my skin. To use, I first cleanse my face with a gentle cleanser and leave it wet. Then I apply a small dollop of the Chia Seed & Passion Fruit Exfoliating Gel to my entire face (avoiding eye area). I very gently massage the product on my skin using sweeping circular motions. Then I let the product sit on my face for about a minute or two as a "mask" before rinsing (I like doing this with enzyme-based exfoliating products to allow the enzymes to do some extra work on my skin). 

My Results:

I am so pleased with the results of this amazing Chia Seed & Passion Fruit Exfoliating Gel from LATHER! I feel like my skin is so soft and refined from using this product consistently. Plus, I also love the instant hydration and smoothness it brings to my skin right after rinsing it off. I feel like the extra exfoliation also keeps my skin clear and bright. Not to mention, the gorgeous scent and the feel of the gentle exfoliators really makes this a spa-quality treatment right in my own bathroom. This product is a total treat to use!

My Skin:

How I Use:

This product is super easy to use! I use it at night as part of my evening skincare routine 1-2 times per week. I use it after washing my face with a gentle cleanser. Then I just leave my skin damp. My Results:

The difference is not super noticeable in size. However, I am very impressed with how clear and soft my skin is. Overall, I really love using this product. It feels like a "spa experience" when I use it, lol! Plus, it keeps my skin clear and the deep exfoliation allows for better penetration of my anti-aging skincare products. That is a huge plus! My Skin Loves: Dermalogica's Daily Microfoliant

Raise your hand if you love exfoliation. Me, me, me (hand raised and waving)!!! For so many years I neglected to exfoliate. Well, shame on me! I was missing out. Over the past few years, I have really discovered the benefits of really good exfoliation. As a woman now in my 40s (OMG, how did I get to be 40 already? lol), good exfoliation is more important than ever. Not only does exfoliation keep my skin clear, it also has a brightening effect on my skin and it seems to be holding wrinkles at bay as well! 

My Skin:

Before jumping into this review any futher, let me give you a bit more background on my skin.  I have classic combo skin (normal-oily in Spring/Summer and normal-dry in Fall/Winter). I get everything from dry patches to oily spots depending on the fluctuation of my skin. I just turned 40 a few months ago. So, I am *very* interested in anti-aging skincare. I have no major lines or wrinkles yet (whew!). I want to fend those off for as long as I can! So far, I just have fine lines that crop up around my eyes (especially when my skin is dry). I do occasionally break out. Not all the time, but I do get breakouts still. Typically, breakouts are on my chin and occasionally by my nose. I have a few dark spots that arrived with my pregnancy. Luckily, these are gradually fading (but still bothersome). My biggest skincare complaint? My very dark under eye circles. I have hereditary dark circles plus allergies and a general lack of sleep. So, my poor eye area looks haggard! Finding good eye creams and concealers is one of the main reasons I am into skincare and got into beauty blogging! ;)

I recently added an awesome exfoliating product to my skincare routine: Dermalogica's Daily Mircrofoliant. This product has been around for quite some time now and seems to have a bit of a cult following. I actually remember trying a small sample of it years ago and wish that I had started using it regularly back then! I have been using this Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant for a few weeks now and am completely obsessed with it!

This is such a unique product. Believe me, I have a ton of products in my skincare arsenal and in my regular skincare routine...and none of these products is even remotely similar to this product. I am a total fan of Caudalie's Facial Skincare. So, when Birchbox asked me (as a Birchblogger) to review their new launch, Caudalie's Divine Scrub, I eagerly agreed! Body Scrubs are a standard item for me in the shower. I use them at least 2-3 times a week. I just love the way a good scrub makes my skin look and feel. 

Caudalie's Divine Scrub:

This is a luxurious scrub which softens and smooths your skin with brown sugar and four exotic oils (grape, argan, hibiscus, and sesame). This scrub gently exfoliates while leaving your skin softly scented. Speaking of the scent...O.M.G!!! This scent is truly...divine! The scent is a Caudalie's Divine Fragrance: a combination of grapefruit, rose, pink pepper, vanilla, cedar, and white musk. Do you know what this scent reminds me of? My homemade melt-and-pour soaps! I scent them with this "rain" fragrance (or at least I think that is the name of the scent, it might be "vanilla rain", there is no longer a label on my soap fragrance bottle) which smells just like this!!!

The scrub itself is very dense. I just scoop a little bit out with my fingers and work it over my body after cleansing. I like that there is almost a creaminess to this product as you work it over your skin. While this product is formulated with oils, it somehow does not leave you (nor your shower) feeling greasy! My skin is left feeling smooth, moisturized, and beautifully scented. I am completely in love with this scrub!

Review Time! Clean and Clear's NEW Morning Burst Fruit Infusions Smoothing Facial Scrub

Sometimes it is just those "little things" that perk you up in the morning! Ya'll know how much I love my bath and shower products...Often it is the scent of the product that lures me. Generally, I am not a huge fan of strongly scented skincare products. Often fragrance can just irritate my skin. So, when I first smelled this Clean & Clear Morning Burst Fruit Infusions Smoothing Facial Scrub, I thought that the scent might be too heavy for me to enjoy. However, it turns out that I really enjoy this delicious scent! This scrub smells like berries! To be exact, strawberries and blueberries (or possibly the scent is "yumberry" although I have never smelled a Yumberry...is that a real fruit, lol, or a made up word?).

It is only recently dawning on me that I adore the Strawberry scent. I am obsessed with my Model & Co Lipgloss and my The Body Shop Strawberry body spray, both of which carry an amazing strawberry scent! So, now add this facial scrub to my Strawberry Scented product "collection"! :)

This is a great scrub for my morning shower routine. I like lightweight mild scrubs for morning use in the shower as they are a one step product. If I use a scrub at night, it is a multi-step process, remove makeup, use scrub, then wash face to remove eye makeup remover residue. So, like the "Morning Burst" name implies, this is a great product for morning use!

Scrub-a-dub dub! What is in my tub? Elizabeth Grant's Island Coconut

Mmm! Coconut!!! For this time of year, nothing beats tropical scents...especially coconut! My bath and shower products have certainly been leaning towards fruity, tropical, and coconut scents lately.

Right now I am loving this set from Elizabeth Grand Skincare. This bath set contains Shower Gel, Body Lotion, and Body Scrub in the Island Coconut scent.

Packaging:
The set is packaged in a decorative box. This would be so cute for a gift (or a gift for yourself!). The bottles of lotion and shower gel and jar of scrub have a pretty floral/island theme print. Super cute! I like that the lotion and shower gel have a pump. These products would be great to put out for house guests as the products are lovely to look at and use!

The Scent:
The Island Coconut scent is a soft creamy coconut scent. While noticeable in the products and on your skin, it is not over-powering (nor is it headache inducing). It is a soft and wearable coconut scent!

• Island Coconut Body Lotion: Smooth as coconut milk, nourish your skin in one caress with this soft and creamy body lotion. Your skin will be left more hydrated and feel like silk, with the sensual aroma of coconut. This body lotion is on the thicker side for a body lotion. It is not nearly as thick as a body cream; but, it does have more thickness than most of my body lotions.

• Island Coconut Body Scrub: Unleash a softer, smoother and more even toned complexion with this gentle exfoliator, enriched with tropical extract. Polish the skin to a more velvety and radiant look. The body scrub is a thick salt-based paste in a jar. It has nourishing ingredients like shea butter and oils. This scrub leaves behind a very slight oil residue that keeps you moisturized. The oily residue sinks in and does not leave you feeling greasy (like many other salt scrubs do).

• Island Coconut Shower Gel: This serene shower gel leaves your skin cleansed and as smooth as coconut milk, letting you escape to the visions of sand and surf as you shower. I like using this shower gel with a big fluffy body pouf. The pearly gel is lathers well and smells great!

I am here with another quick product rave and review for "Yes to Carrots" Gentle Exfoliating Cleanser.

Its always good to "go green" when you can with cosmetics! The "Yes to" company seems very environmentally friendly. They do not test on animals (a big plus in my book!). Also, the products contain natural and organic fruit and vegetable extracts. The "yes to" brand includes: Yes to Carrots, Yes to Cucumbers, Yes to Blueberries, and Yes to Tomatoes...and a baby-line: Yes to baby carrots (too cute!).

I am highly intrigued by the "Yes to" line and definitely want to try more products!

With my uber-sensitive skin, there are not a whole lotta scrubs out there that I can use without irritation...but, this is one that I can! It is super gentle on my skin and leaves my skin feeling amazingly soft.

This is a white cream-based gentle scrub with moisturizing properties. The scent of it is just heavenly!!! I can't quite describe it but it is sweet and creamy and "honey"-scented. I also noticed that honey is in the ingredients. I absolutely love the feel of massaging this cream scrub into my skin. It feels very relaxing and soothing!

I apply to a wet face and massage VERY gently on my face avoiding my eye area. The tube says to massage for one minute (side note: massage gently, be good to your skin-don't try to "scrub"). I rinse with tepid water and follow up with a gentle cleanser to remove the fine-milled scrub residue. My face feels very soft and smooth after using this. Love the feel!!!

I find myself wanting to use this just for its yummy scent! I love that it is gentle and non-irritating. And, I feel like you can instantly see fresher smoother skin!
