I had a chance to try out a few of the Nip + Fab Glycolic Fix formulations, and I am really enjoying them! 

NIP + FAB Glycolic Fix Daily Cleansing Pads:
These pads help to boost your skin's radiance with awesome exfoliation! The pads are soaked in exfoliating glycolic acid (2.8%) to retexture + resurface skin whilst witch hazel helps to tone. This moisturising formula with hyaluronic acid + soothing blue daisy helps to reveal brighter + smoother looking skin.

How to use:
After cleansing with a gentle cleanser and patting dry, just wipe pad across face, neck + decollete.

Note: You should always do a patch test first when trying out a glycolic product for the first time. Also, if you have sensitive skin, be careful about how many times a week you exfoliate. Personally, my skin does best with 1-2 nights a week max. However, some people can exfoliate daily. Just proceed slowly and see how your skin responds.

NIP + FAB Gycolic Fix Foaming Pads:
These dual action pads give you twice the action! They are enriched with 2% glycolic acid and moisture-rich ingredients. These pads will gently clease the skin without overdrying. Plus, you can switch from the textued side to exfoliate and the smooth side to polish your skin and to lift away dirt, oil, and impurities.

Besides the 2% glycolic acid, the pads also contain hyaluronic acid (for hydration), and witch hazel to tone and tighten your pores.

How to use:
You can use these pad daily (if your skin tolerates daily exfoliation). You just massage the pad in a circular motion to damp skin to work up the lather. Use the smooth side to polish and the textured side to exfoliate. Then, rinse off with tepid water.

I got to try out a few items from this new TIGI Cosmetics CVS lineup. Overall, I am super pleased with these items! The packaging is beautiful and very sleek and high-end. Plus, the quality and pimentation is really good across the board.

Here is the scoop on the items I tried:

High Density Quad Eyeshadow:

Love Affair:

This is a gorgeous warm-toned neutral quad. I love the size of the compact as it is such a good size for travel or your handbag. Plus, the assortment of shades is so nice. It is just what you need for a start-to-finish complete eye look. It has nice pigmentation and features both matte and shimer shades. 

Glow Blush:

Awaken: 

What a gorgeous peach shade. This is a baked formula blush with a dome shape. It is super small but packes a gorgeously pigmented punch. I find this shade to be so flattering. I am such a "blush girl". So, finding a pretty blush like this in the drugstore really does thrill me. This blush has a nice golden shimmer to it. Love it!!! You can certainly get your glow-on with this blush. I think this shade would be universally flattering to a variety of skin tones. On the CVS site, this shade looks more peachy-pink, but IRL it looks more like a true peach to me.

Perfect Eyeliner:

Black:

The creamy formula of this eyeliner applies and glides on your lids smoothly and with just enough time to smudge before the formula sets to a nice long-wearing finish. I love that there is a smudger on one end as that saves me time in the mornings as I am not digging for a smudge brush. Love this!

Luxe Lipglos:

This lipgloss is beautifully packaged in an acryllic tube with an hourglass shape applicator. The formula is nicely hydrating and feels soothing going on. It contains natural emoolients for natural hyration and maximum shine. There are 8 shades available. Superficial is a beautiful semi-sheer nude with irradecent shimmer. It really looks beautiful on. It is such a lovely shade that can complete a variety of makeup looks. Plus, the taste/scent...like yummy vanilla carmel!

What a pretty silver lipstick tube! It is square shaped as is the product inside. I love the unique and very sleek and modern design. The formula itself is creamy and it gives a very smooth application. The formula contains vitamin E and rosehip seed oil to soften and nourish your lips. The shade Loyalty is more brown toned IRL than it appears online on the CVS site.

If I could give advice to my younger self, I would encourage myself to start serious sun protection at an early age! I cringe when I think back at some of my younger days laying out in the sun before I knew better. While I can't go back and actually talk to my younger self, I can take action now. I can protect myself and my family with high SPF sunscreens. My children have my fair skin. So, I am vigilant with sunscreen application for them at all times. I am building sun safety habits with them every day! Sunscreen application is simply part of our daily routine before going outside. You can take action, too! Sun protection is a very important topic to me. My life has personally been touched by the impact of inadequate sunscreen as I have lost a dear friend to Melanoma and my Dad constantly has Carcinomas removed. Daily sunscreen use is of the utmost importance to keep yourself protected! So, I am spreading the word on the importance of daily sunscreen use for ourselves, our loved ones, and our children.

Why is sun safety important to you?

Sun safety was always ingrained in me. My mother was ahead of the game in sun protection and making us wear sunscreen at a time when there really wasn’t the awareness there is today. If we were in the sun, we were always protected. Skin cancer runs in my family, my father has it, so for me it’s something that is very important to me especially since it’s the most preventable form of cancer. Also, sunscreen also prevents fine lines, wrinkles and brown spots and keeps your skin looking great.

How do you fit sunscreen into your beauty routine?

People always ask me what my top beauty tips are and I always say sunscreen and water, so it’s easy to fit sunscreen into my beauty routine. Also, all of my makeup has sunscreen in it, but I always do double duty! You need to apply a sunscreen first and then apply your makeup with SPF.

Do you wear sunscreen every day?

I apply sunscreen every day. People think if it’s cloudy out you don’t have to apply sunscreen, but that is just not true and when the biggest mistakes happen. I also apply it to my kids every day. The minute they get up before they put their clothes on, we put on sunscreen. It’s a routine, just like brushing their teeth. I also think it’s important to lead by example. Not only do they see me applying it on them, but they see me applying it to myself.

There is no question, I got some amazing deals during my CVS haul! One thing I have really noticed in my years of CVS shopping, the more you spend, the better the deals. For this haul, I got over $160 worth of products for just over $110! Amazing! So, how did I save so much money??? Here is how I got such a great deal: First, I downloaded a 25% off coupon digitally to my CVS extracare (discount card I carry on my key chain). I got the coupon in my email which is linked to my CVS extracare card number. It was as easy as reading my email on my phone and clicking "download to card". Whenever I get to CVS, I scan my card at one of their kiosks. The kiosk prints out coupon and a summary of the discounts on my card. So, when I got to CVS to shop, the kiosk print out confirmed my 25% was loaded and printed me out about 5 coupons (3 of which I used in my haul for $2 off over $10 in vitamins, $3.00 off Revlon, and $1.50 off of Batteries). Plus, my purchase earned me $7.00 in Extra Bucks (a coupon you get after purchase attached to your recipt. Extra Bucks work just like cash at CVS!). Tip: I have found that I do best when I use my Extra Bucks right away (otherwise, I risk losing them in my purse or forgetting about them). So, just when I thought I was "done" shopping, I used my $7.00 Extra Bucks coupon to buy a Revlon lipstick with my $3.00 off coupon. This saved me $10.00! As a stay-at-home Mommy, I am certainly "in the trenches" when it comes to diapering and potty training! I have a 1 1/2 year old in diapers and a 3 1/2 year old who pretty recently potty trained. While I am so happy to finally have only one child in diapers...that certainly does not mean that my 3 1/2 year old daughter is accident-free. 

Potty training was overall very successful for my daughter. Across the board, she does not have that many accidents. However, staying dry throughout the night is still an occasional challenge. Plus, with the Summer heat in full swing. I have noticed that she is drinking more fluids during the day and having more accidents. As a busy and often tired Mommy, potty accidents can certainly be frustrating on my end (as well as on my daughter's end). I mean, who wants to be changing sheets and nightgowns and cleaning in the middle of the night? Not me! While it does happen, it is difficult and I always try to remain as positive as I can during the situation. My daughter is always upset and crying when this happens. She certainly does not want to have accidents. So, she is embarrassed and upset when they do happen. She does not want to be dirty nor wet. The last thing that I would ever want is for her to be upset with herself when she has an accident. She is only 3 and accidents are part of the whole potty training process. I certainly do not expect a 3-year old to be accident-free and dry during the night 100% of the time.

When we potty trained using the classic "3 Day Method" we made a big deal about getting rid of diapers. Diapers were for babies and my daughter is a "big girl" and wears big girl panties from now on. That works great...in theory. However, it certainly does not help with those night time accidents (and the subsequent cleaning dilemmas). I have occasionally put her in a "pull up" style pant...but, lets face it, those are glorified diapers. Plus, once my daughter got used to her "big girl panties", those "pull ups" just weren't as comfortable to her. That is why I am so excited to hear about the GoodNites TruFit Real Underwear with Nighttime Protection. These are not diapers! I am in the process of testing out and sampling quite a variety of new products from CVS. Hey, when I am waiting for a prescription to be filled, I absolutely can't resisit shopping the beauty department's new product displays. I love seeing all of these fun new products from my favorite drugstore brands like Maybelline, Olay, Rimmel, L'Oreal, essence of beauty, Lumene, La Roche-Posay, Vichy, Simple, and and many more! 

What are some of my recent makeup faves from CVS? 

• L'Oreal Glossy Balm in #230 My Babydoll: This is the perfect glossy (like the name suggests) light pink color. It is just pigmented enough to lighten my lips to this lovely pink shade. I am honestly wanting to wear this one every day!
• Maybelline Master Kajal Cream Kohl Eyeliners: I have these in 2 colors: Charcoal Skies (grey) and Onyx Rush (black). I really like the unique shape and find them to be so super smooth and easy to apply.
• L'Oreal Colour Riche Eye Shadow Quad in #230 Perpetual Nude: What a pretty little palette. I love wearing quads for everyday shadows as you just grab it and apply (no need to hunt through my collection to find shades, this saves time!). This quad is an assortment of soft and shimmery neutral shades. The shadows are of about medium pigmentation.
• L'Oreal Colour Riche Lipstick Collection Privee by Doutzen in #600 Doutzen's Nude: OMG! What a gorgeous pinky nude shade. I love this!

Bargain Alert! Essence of Beauty Brushes: Review

Essence of Beauty Brushes

Hello my dear readers! Have you had the opportunity to check out the "Essence of Beauty" line at your local CVS? If not, then you should!!! They have some fantastic brushes!

Now, please note, this is not the "essence" brand that I have blogged about before, but "Essence of Beauty". This brand is only carried at CVS and is a line of various beauty tools, brushes, and lotions/soaps, etc.

Here is what I have tried and like from this line:

The Kabuki Brush:

I *adore* this big fat kabuki!!! I must start out by commenting on how incredibly SOFT this brush is. Not quite as soft as Ecotools brushes (my barometer of softness)...but, *almost*! And, ecotools does not have a kabuki this large.

For powder application, I really prefer a BIG brush. The brush is quite size able with a very fat base. The brush head fluffs out much wider than the base and has a slight taper which I like for going around the "nooks and crannies" of the face.

This kabuki is fantastic for buffing in powder foundation. I use this daily with my beloved MAC Studio Fix powder (NC15). The denseness of the brush provides a flawless application of powder for fuller coverage.

The brush feels so good that I actually look forward to massaging my powder onto my face with this every morning, it feels so good! (lol..I know! Its those little things we enjoy, right!).

The packaging is a reusable plastic snap case...so, one could easily toss it back into its packaging if you wanted to travel with it. The price on this kabuki is approximately $10-$14 retail (depending on sales, etc).

Crease Brush Duo:

Wow! These brushes are such a FIND! And, so inexpensive!!! Two brushes come in this set. One larger and one smaller, both with dome shaped heads.

The larger of the two brushes, is hands-down, the best crease brush that I have used! The size and shape of the brush head is absolutely perfect for my eye size and shape. This makes crease work and blending effortless! It places the color precisely where I want it! Flawless!

The smaller brush is a mini-version of the larger one. I find it is best used for outer corner "v" shadow application. I love it!

I use both of these brushes, without fail when I do a shadow look with crease and outer "v" color. These brushes make color application so easy!

I highly recommend this set. For about $4? you can't go wrong here!

Smudger Brush:

Not a whole lot to say besides this is your basic sponge tipped smudge brush. But, I love it and use it to smudge out my eyeliner. :)

Total rave for these brushes! Check them out ya'll next time you are in CVS and waiting on a prescription! :)
