Clear Skin for Pregnancy, Nursing, and Beyond: Belli's Anti-Blemish Basics Kit!

There is no doubt that pregnancy brings with it a certain glow. There is nothing better than that anticipation of a new life...a new member of your family. With that said, my pregnancy glow was not just from happiness, it was also a "glow" of oily skin for me! Along with the oily skin came hormonal breakouts that were very hard to treat considering the limited options for pregnancy safe skincare. This kit from Belli Skincare is a great way to get started with the line. It contains my beloved and adored Anti-Blemish Facial Wash as well as the Acne Control Spot treatment. If you are dealing with those dreaded hormonal breakouts from pregnancy, these products will really help!!! 

Anti-Blemish Facial Wash: 

This is a lactic acid cleanser which gently exfoliates your skin without over-drying it. I love the gel-like consistency and amazing light scent. It completely cleanses my skin and leaves me feeling fresh. I like that it can be used as a "mask". When I wash, I leave it on for a couple minutes for the ingredients to really get to work on my skin. I use this cleaner every day (when I am not testing out other products) in my morning shower. I just love it!!!

Acne Control Spot Treatment: 

I primarily used this treatment in pregnancy when I would get hormonal breakouts. I still use it occasionally after pregnancy (as I am still nursing, so I want to continue to be safe with my skincare). The active ingredient in the treatment is Sulfur which is safe and pretty effective as a spot treament for existing breakouts as well as breakout prevention. I apply this to my chin and nose area where I tend to get breakouts.

Helping my Children to be Confident Kids: Positive Potty Training and Handling of Accidents

Having my children feel good about themselves is a driving force embedded within my parenting style. I choose to leave work and stay at home to raise my kids in a positive and nurturing environment. This includes potty training! I think the key to our potty training success has been to always approach the subject (including handling of accidents) in a positive manner.

As a stay-at-home Mommy, I am certainly "in the trenches" when it comes to diapering and potty training! I have a 1 1/2 year old in diapers and a 3 1/2 year old who pretty recently potty trained. While I am so happy to finally have only one child in diapers...that certainly does not mean that my 3 1/2 year old daughter is accident-free. 

Potty training was overall very successful for my daughter. Across the board, she does not have that many accidents. However, staying dry throughout the night is still an occasional challenge. Plus, with the Summer heat in full swing. I have noticed that she is drinking more fluids during the day and having more accidents. As a busy and often tired Mommy, potty accidents can certainly be frustrating on my end (as well as on my daughter's end). I mean, who wants to be changing sheets and nightgowns and cleaning in the middle of the night? Not me! While it does happen, it is difficult and I always try to remain as positive as I can during the situation. My daughter is always upset and crying when this happens. She certainly does not want to have accidents. So, she is embarrassed and upset when they do happen. She does not want to be dirty nor wet. The last thing that I would ever want is for her to be upset with herself when she has an accident. She is only 3 and accidents are part of the whole potty training process. I certainly do not expect a 3-year old to be accident-free and dry during the night 100% of the time.

When we potty trained using the classic "3 Day Method" we made a big deal about getting rid of diapers. Diapers were for babies and my daughter is a "big girl" and wears big girl panties from now on. That works great...in theory. However, it certainly does not help with those night time accidents (and the subsequent cleaning dilemmas). I have occasionally put her in a "pull up" style pant...but, lets face it, those are glorified diapers. Plus, once my daughter got used to her "big girl panties", those "pull ups" just weren't as comfortable to her. That is why I am so excited to hear about the GoodNites TruFit Real Underwear with Nighttime Protection. These are not diapers! This is like the best of both worlds: the protection of an absorbent liner with the comfort and feel of real underwear!!!

I am absolutely thrilled that I have the option of giving my daughter (and Son whenever he is ready) GoodNites TruFit Real Underwear with Nighttime Protection. This will inspire confidence within her that she can go through the night without wetting her bed! Plus, she doesn't feel like she has to take a step-back to wear pull-up style pants. As far as fit, we purchased the GoodNites TruFit in the size S/M (fits clothing size 4-8 and 38-65 lbs). These are slightly too big for my daughter (she is a size 4, but is thin). However, I can still make them work with some slight adjustments. As she grows into these a little bit more, they will be perfect!

It is time for another Makeup Wars! This time the Makeup Wars team is sharing their favorite fragrances for Summer! The timing of this Makeup Wars is perfect because I just discovered a fabulous Summer scent from Laura Mercier!

Laura Mercier's Tarte au Citron Eau Gourmand:

Are you looking for a new scent for Summer? If you are a fan of the foody sweetness of Eau Gourmande scents then you are going to love this new one from Laura Mercier! Introducing Tarte au Citron! 

Eau Gourmand scents are my absolute favorite type of scent category. I love the richness and sometimes sweetness of these decadent and rich foody scents. However, when I typically think of Gourmand scents, I think "cold weather" or Winter-scents...until I met this new Tarte au Citron collection from Laura Mercier! The Tarte au Citron is absolute decadent goodness!

Tarte au Citron: Eau de Toilette:

This scent is a blend of lemon zest, sugared citron, a dash of bergamot, and topped with creme fraice merinque. It is accented with neroli, jasmine, and anise combined with vanilla, musk, and even some woody notes. The overall effect? A decadent and rich scent that reminds me of lemon cake! This is a rich and complex sweet foody scent that is Summertime wearable. The zestyness of lemon makes it seem light and appropriate for the heat of Summer. I absolutely adore this scent and find it perfect for everyday wear. 

Tarte au Citron Souffle Body Crème:

In addtion to the Tarte au Citron Eau de Toilette, I also tried out the Tarte au Citron Souffle Body Crème. The Souffle Body Crème is a luxurious and rich whipped body cream in a lovely glass jar. My skin gets so dry in the Summer from all the chlorine. So, applying this body cream is a special treat. It leaves my skin feeling velvety soft and delicately scented. It is so luxurious! It contains Vit A and E as well as Grape Seed and Macadamia Oils and Shea butter.

Summer Essentials: Favorite Waterproof Makeup

With the temps in the mid-upper 90s, it is time to embrace my no-fail Waterproof Makeup! Waterproof makeup is essential this time of year. Many days I do end up either at the pool or doing water activities with the kids in the back yard. I often do not know how my day will play out. So, I always opt for as much waterproof makeup as possible. Plus, in this heat, Waterproof makeup is much more resistant to sweat and general makeup "melt-down"!

Overall, my makeup look is very simplified (and even more so in the Summertime when I honestly just couldn't be bothered with a fussy look). So, I keep it streamlined: concealer (for under eye area and concealer or a good coverage foundation to dab over slight redness on chin and around nose area), a dab of powder, mascara, maybe eyeshadow (just a wash of color on the lids if I do), lipbalm or sheer lip gloss, and a bit of blush or bronzer applied as blush for color. If I am getting "fancy", I will do eyeliner, too.

I have a nice little assortment of waterproof and longwearing makeup options in my makeup collection right now. So, I am going to share some of my favorite picks with you today!

Summertime Essentials: Some Great Waterproof Makeup Options:

• It Cosmetics | Bye Bye Under Eye Waterproof: How amazing is it that my favorite concealer by It Cosmetics is also available in an waterproof formula?!?! This pleases me to no end! The coverage is amazing and the pigmentation is fabulous. The shade "Light" works very well with my fair skin tone. I just love that I can cover my super dark under eye circles in a waterproof way! Even if I wear no other make, I don't leave the house without concealing those bad dark circles! 

• tarte | lights, camera, splashes™waterproof mascara: This mascara gives my lashes everything that I crave (length, curl, and volume) while also being waterproof! No smudges with this mascara! 

• tarte | Amazonian clay waterproof bronzer (in both matte and shimmer finishes): Waterproof bronzers? Yes, please! I wear high SPF on my face. However, I do still crave that sunkissed glow and can get that with these tarte bronzers! I am especially in love with the matte one! Beautiful!

• Shiseido | UV Protective Stick Foundation SPF 37: This is a long-lasting water resistant foundation with a creamy feel and medium coverage. This is great for covering slight redness around my nose and on my chin. This foundation is very convenient for travel or on-the-go touch ups because of the slim and portable size. This doesn't budge until I take it off! It comes in four shades. I am the shade Fair Ivory. 

• Pixi | Endless Silky Eye Intensity Duo and Lash Line Ink: Pixi sure does know have a nice selection of waterproof liners! Right now, I am especially loving the Silky Eye Intensity Duo in the Blue Eye Intensity Shade. It is a no-smudge dual ended eyeliner with a deep matte blue grey liner on one side and a brightening opal beige on the other side. I line my upper lash line with the blue grey and brighten up my inner corner and lower waterline with the beige. It is super easy to apply and very flattering for my blue eyes! If I want more of a "liquid liner" look, I reach for Pixi's Lash Line Ink which I have loved for years! It quickly lays down dark color and it doesn't budge. The tip makes it very easy to use and is a great product to get that winged liner look.

• COVERGIRL | Clump Crusher by LashBlast Mascara: I know, I just can't stop talking about Clump Crusher! It is my all-time favorite mascara. If you haven't already, you really must explore COVERGIRL's mascaras. I am quite a fan of pretty much all of the LashBlast mascaras. Clump Crusher is water resistant, doesn't smudge, and defines my lashes beautifully with no clumps. Plus, the green tube is pretty darn cute!

• PurMinerals | Big Look Waterproof Mascara: I love this new mascara from PurMinerals! This mascara gives beautiful fullness and length to my lashes. The waterproof formula is great for Summer! 

• essence | Lash Mania Reloaded Waterproof False Lash Mascara: If you are looking for a good budget mascara, be sure to check this one out! For only $4.99, it is a steal and it leaves my lashes super dark black and full.

• essence | Gel Eye Pencil: I have long been a fan of essence's eye liners. They are so cheap and honestly so good! These glide on and lay down nice dark color. For only $2.99 each, you can afford to indulge in a variety of fun colors for Summer!

My Aging Concerns:
As I enter my 40s, my main anti-aging concerns are prevention and softening the look of my fine lines. Luckily, my fine lines are not that apparent yet. However, I do have some around my eye area. My Hair:

Before diving in to the product descriptions and my reviews, lets talk about my hair type. My hair is very long, thick, and heavily highlighted. I am naturally a dark blonde and I highlight my hair to a light blonde shade. While my hair is thick, it is fine in texture but also somewhat coarse as well. I generally find that shampoos geared towards coarse damaged hair are what resonates with my hair. Rarely can a shampoo or conditioner be "too thick" or "too rich" for me. It is actually the contrary, I struggle to find shampoos and conditioners that are smoothing and moisturizing enough for me. My other issue: tangles. My hair tangles so easily and it is so long that it really can be a pain! My hair is certainly in the dry and damaged range. With that said, my hair can be transformed into touchably soft and beautiful hair with the right combination of products!

Summer is the time for longer days, vacation time, outdoor activities, and overall a more casual and relaxed way of life. I strive for a relaxed and casual look with both my clothes and my hair for Summers. Even though my hair is primarily straight, it still is prone to "frizz" during the Summer because of the super high humidity here in Georgia. So, why fight the wave and texture? I need to embrace it and go for an effortless and carefree beachy wavy style!

My Frizz Battle:

While my hair is primarily straight, it has just enough wave (right in the center back of my head) to make it necessary to round brush it or flat iron that area to give my hair a uniform look (when wearing it straight). This is so annoying! My hair was perfectly straight for years and I do admit that I miss those days that I could just comb it straight without styling it. My hair changed texture 4 years ago when I was pregnant with my first child and it never went back to being perfectly straight. I will admit that I am still on a learning curve with dealing with these unruly waves. They are not wavy enough to be curly and not straight enough to just leave alone.
