I am so excited! I have a new blog series coming your way: MAC Matters: Build A Core Collection with $21 per month.
I know that I am not alone with my love of all-things MAC. Many of you are fellow MACaddicts. When I think of MAC, besides thinking of all of their limited edition collections, I think of great basics! Seriously, I could build an entire makeup collection of just MAC products. You can cover all bases with MAC: great color selection, great quality professional products, affordably priced for a high end line, sleek packaging, and all you need for face, eyes, cheeks, and tools!
So, building a core-basics makeup collection is just the idea here. Often I go for the newest and greatest makeup item available and neglect my basics! So, follow me through this monthly journey to build my core MAC makeup items and MAC must-haves!
What inspired my series? Well, part of deciding to cancel one of my monthly beauty box subscription was the idea that I could put that $21/month to much better use. So here is the idea that hit me: I can take that $21 per month that I am no longer spending on a sample box and I can instead get some "basic items" off of my ongoing MAC wishlist from my phone! LOL, I know, I am just justifying a reason to buy MAC...but, it makes sense to me! ;) With MAC lipstick and shadow prices, I can totally be *under* my $20 budget! Sure, I have a lot of MAC items already. However, building a core collection will be so fun! What am I looking for? Well loved MAC must-haves! Core collection items that get rave reviews.
Goal: Build my core MAC Collection using an average of $21.00 per month.
- Purchase at least one item a month: If the item is under $20, I can save the remainder for the next month. While there are many items priced under $20, there are plenty that are over the $20 range that I can save for.
- Do a monthly blog post to share what I got! My goal is to continue this series for 12 months to see what kind of core collection I can build!
- To coordinate with my "Build a Core MAC Collection" purchases, I will also be posting "MAC Matters: From the Stash" reviews! These "stash" items are MAC items that I love that are already in my makeup collection. Some months, I will be "saving" my $21 to go towards a bigger MAC purchase. This is when you will likely see the "stash" posts. Or, I might include a "stash" item mini review within my "Build a Core MAC Collection" posts because if you are reading this because you want to build your own MAC collection, you might enjoy reading about what I am already using and loving!
- If this series is popular, I will repeat the series with another brand upon completion of 12 months with MAC.
I feel that this series could be fun for you readers no matter where you are in your makeup journey! If you are just getting started with makeup, building a core collection of MAC products is totally the way to go. If you are someone with a large MAC collection, I would love to hear from you! I need product recommendations for sure! Does building a core MAC collection intrigue and excite you? I invite you to build your MAC collection with me!
So, rather than seeing my monthly GLOSSYBOX box opening post in November, you will see my first installment in my MAC Matters: Build a Core Collection series! In the meantime, I would love to hear some of your MAC must-have recommendations! Feel free to comment below or leave a comment on my facebook, twitter, or instagram!

WHAT an awesome idea!!!! I so want to do this too! I can do it privately if you'd prefer, or we can coordinate and do it together monthly. Such a wonderful concept!!!!
@Mama Fashionista-I would love it if you could participate!!! :) We could even link to each other's posts (and maybe coordinate a MAC shopping date).
I think this is a fantastic idea! I never could justify the cost of the sample boxes to join up myself. I saw too many negative reviews or just meh reviews to be willing to try it. But budgeting to spend the money on items that you know you want & be able to help your readers think about building a makeup 'basics' wardrobe sounds like a win, win proposition!
Despite loving makeup, I haven't purchased from MAC yet and look forward to trying their products.
I'm like you in that I'd rather get a product I like than spend money on a subscription box. I have so many items, I'd want to cut down on the stash by getting only items I really love.
Hey Pammy,
This is a GREAT idea. I'll be looking forward to see your new purchase or reviews of the "oldie but goodies"!
@lovtoread68-Exactly! Budgeting for items that I really want and will love for a long time is such a better use of my $. In the end, I hope to end up with a great little collection of items that I will truly love and use.
@Iris-Yes, cutting down on the clutter is a bit motivator for me too. I want to choose my items carefully and really build on what I already have and expand wisely. While I liked and even loved some sample box items. The mass amount of stuff started to just feel like clutter to me. I am so excited about this MAC series! :)
@Fay H-I am glad you are looking forward to this series! It gets me even more excited when my readers are excited too! Plus, I am going to have so much fun reviewing my "oldies but goodies" items from my stash. I love those items even more than many of the new products that I try. :)
Thanks again for reading and following this series everyone! xoxo
This is such an amazing idea. I wish to start in the near future hopefully. I look forward to your future posting.
@JoJo-You should totally join in! :)
I'm really excited about this series - I always forget to buy MAC core stuff because they have so many LE collections! I can't wait to see what you get! :)
@Rachel-Glad to hear that you are excited! Me too!!! :) I might venture into some of the LE stuff if it is a makeup "essential"...but, I am really going to try to stick to core collection items. :) Thanks for following along!
Can we still join in on this??
