Do you struggle with dry skin? Do you have skin conditions like Eczema? Well, Dove Derma Series just might be for you! While I do not have Eczema, I do have chronic dry skin and my son has Eczema. So, I like to keep Eczema-friendly products around the house that are super nourishing for dry skin. 

My problem area is certainly my hands. In my occupation as a Pediatric Speech-Language Pathologist, I was my hands a lot for germ protection. So, keeping them moisturized with good products is a must! My other problem areas include my cuticles, elbows, feet, and heels. The winter is particularly harsh on my dry skin. My hands get flaky and my feet get so dry that they sometimes even crack (I know, ewh!). Plus, dry skin is just unconfortable and itchy. Nothing beats a great moisturizer to combat this! I am always diligent. However, during the winter I need to take some extra measures. That is where a line like the Dove Derma Series comes into play. It was especially formulated for extra dry and problematic skin (like Eczema-prone skin). So, it is extra moisturizing and extra soothing for your super dry skin. 

The products that I have been trying out from Dove Derma Series are the Dry Skin Relief Replenishing Body Lotion, The Dry Skin Relief Expert Repairing Balm, and the Dry Skin Relief Replenishing Hand Cream. So far, I must say, these products are a hit! Their super moisturizing formula is just what my skin needs to repair, feel soft, and for aleviation of itching and peeling/cracked skin. 

Now, I don't always use fragrance free products; but, honestly, I should. I know that they are better for my skin. So, I just need to keep those options on-hand at all times anyways. I am happy to see that the Dove Derma Series is recognized by the National Eczema Association. So, I know these are products that I can trust to use with my son. I tend to always choose fragrance free products when a line offers a fragrance free version of a popular product. I honestly wish more brands would do this! Sorry for the tangent, but honestly...fragrance free is much better for your skin!

Dove Derma Series Dry Skin Relief Replenishing Body Lotion:

I slather my body completely with body lotion or body butter after every shower or bath. I recently switched to using this Dove Derma Series Dry Skin Relief Replenishing Body Lotion and I am so pleased with the results! It has a thin consistancy. However, it is still super moisturizing. It is super easy to spread across your skin. It absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling soft and smooth. I do like that it is light and non-sticky for quick morning applications after my showers. This lotion can work to repair the skin barrier while adding moisture. This product has really calmed my dry skin and has worked to heal dry patches. I totally love this product! I think that I would like to try the Body Cream next for night time application after night showers. However, for the mornings, this is perfect! :) 

Dove Derma Series Dry Skin Relief Expert Repairing Balm:
This might just be my favorite product from the line. This super versatile balm is perfect for my super dry and cracked areas like my heels, feet, cuticles, and elbows. This product is a super thick petrolatum jelly blend balm. It is surprisingly non-greasy and non-sticky. I like to slather this product on my feet at night and then put on cotton socks. This process competely heals my super dry and cracked skin and leaves it feeling super soft! This product is also amazing as a cuticle treatment/moisturizer. I just keep this tub right on my night stand for application to my feet and cuticles right before bed. Works like a dream!!! This product is so effective that it is recognized by the National Psoriasis Foundation as suitable for psoriasis-prone skin. Plus, it is an Allure Best of Beauty Awards 2018 winner! I totally recommend this product. Seriously, if you only try one product from this line, it should be this one! :) 

Dove Derma Series Dry Skin Relief Replenishing Hand Cream:
This hand cream is amazing! I love carrying hand cream with me in my handbag or work bag for frequent reapplication during the day. The key ingredient in this hand cream is glycerin which really locks in the moisture. This hand cream is both mild and moisturizing. I love that it is fragrance free (unlike most hand creams). This way its focus is just to replenish and repair without irritation. It leaves a wonderful barrier on your skin that really protects while sealing in the skin's moisture.

I totally recommend the Dove Derma Series for your sensitive, problematic, or Winter-dry skin! It sure has helped to heal and soothe my skin. Who else is tired Winter? lol! I know that I sure am. Well, Pixi beauty has such a beautiful lineup of products to get you inspired for glowing skin and makeup for the upcoming warmer months ahead. Let's dive right in to talking about some of my recent favorites from Pixi! :)

Pixiglow Cake 3-in-1 Luminous Transition Powder:

You guys might remember that I have a bit of a thing for blush. Well, I just about swooned when I first saw these *huge* Pixiglow Cakes! These light diffusing cheek powders can give you gorgeous contouring, color, and highlight depending on where you place your brush on your pan and on your face. You can use via solo swipes or swirl all together to customize your own beautiful look. The powder is soft and blendable which makes it super easy to apply. It reflects light subtly. So, you don't have to worry about being too shiny or sparkly with these. Plus, they are packed with good-for-your-skin ingredients like plumping peptides and grape seed extract. There are two shades. One is more of a peach and one is more of a pink. :) 

Liquid Fairy Lights:

These are long-wearing liquid glittery eyeshadows. They are gorgeous!!! These are super easy to apply. You literally just swipe these on your lids and you are all set. I got to try out a couple shades: Crystalline (a shimmery white) and BareBrilliance (a light taupey brown). I adore these and really want to try out more shades. There are 7 shades total. Plus, they are infused with chamomile and rose extracts to soothe and hydrate your skin. 

Pixi Skintreats Rose Ceramide Cream Intensive Moisturizer: 

Oooooh! I just love Ceramide in my skincare products. As I *cough* age, I am becoming more and more concious and selective of my skincare and the ingredients in said skincare. I have learned that Ceramides are one of the best ingredients that you can have to hydrate and renew the skin. Moisturizers with Ceramides in them just seem to work better! This ultra-rich cream from Pixi Skintreats is infused with both Ceramides and Rose Oil to give your skin a great look and feel. Plus, it is antioxidant rich to help protect your skin as well. This feels so nourishing on my Winter-dry skin. It absorbs quickly and leaves my skin feeling hydrated and balanced.

Are you all loving this season of American Beauty Star? I know that I am! :) International supermodel and Revlon spokesperson Ashley Graham is amazing. Her message of body confidence is so inspiring. Here is her beauty breakdown from the recent American Beauty Star episode straight from Revlon:

Makeup By: Katie Jane Huges, Celebrity Makeup Artist 

Inspiration: Sexy with a funky edge to play off the sparkle of Ashley's dimante dress

Skin: Revlon PhotoReady Candid Natural Finish Anti-Pollution Foundation in Medium Beige was applied to the skin with the Revlon Highlighting Brush which is small enough to fit into all the curves of the fasce for a smooth finish. Revlon PhotoReady Candid Antioxidant Concealer in Biscuit was dabbed at the inner and outer corners of her eyes and in the hallows, then blended with the same brush. 

Eyes: Revlon ColorStay Creme Eye Shadow in Earl Gray was swept all over her lids with the Revlon All Over Shadow Brush concentrating it at the inner corners, fading it out along the lids and toward Ashley's brows to really emphasize the silver n the V shape of her eye. To add a sultry, smoky haze, Hughes layered Revlo ColorStay Eye Liner in BlackBrown with ColorStay Creme EyeShadow in Tuxedo all along the top and bottom lids, intensifying the color at the outer corners as a way to break up all the silver. Lashes were curled with the Revlon Salon Pro Lash Curler before applying Revlon Volumazing Mascara. One Swarovski crystal at the inner corner of each eye was added with a dab of lash glue for extra sparkle. 

Brows: To blance the shimmery eyes, brows stayed soft with Revlon ColroStay Brow Pencil in Soft Brown applied in feathery storkes, starting about a half centimeter in from the beginning of the brow. 

Cheeks: For a whisper-soft flush, Hughes used 2 shades of Revlon Insta Blush first swirling Nude Kiss on Ashley's cheeks, and then Berry Kiss in the center of the apples of her cheeks, blending to diffuse the two shades. The champagne shade from the Revlon PhotoReady Highlighting Palette in Rose Glow wsa then dusted on the high points of Ashley's face and along the hairline near the forehead to elongate the face. 

Lips: To keep the lips plush, Hughes used the same Revlon ColorStay Brow Pencil in Soft Brown and traced it along the outer corners of her mouth to contour them, blending out the edges with the Revlon Blending Brush. With her finger, she pressed on a pinky-nude lip color from the new lip kit Ashley created for Revlon (dropping in the Spring!) in the center of her mouth and gently blended it out along the rest of her lips. 

What do you all think of this look? I think Ashley looks stunning. I totally want to re-create this look with Revlon (and even with the Swarovski crystal-what a great idea for a night out!!!).

Kiehl's Introduces an Herbal Treatment for Problem Skin formulated with Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil:

I am so excited to see this new launch from Kiehl's! Cannabis is certainly the latest and hottest ingredient in the skincare industry. As regulations are lifting for the use of Cannabis across the board, we are just at the tip of the iceberg for tapping into the many uses of this amazing plant.

The Cannabis Oil Herbal Concentrate formula contains 100% naturally-derived* ingredients including Cannabis Sativa Seed Oil and Green Oregano Oil. These oils help to balance hydration and relieve the feeling of stressed skin. The herbal concentrate is appropriate for all skin types, including problem-, oily-, and blemish-prone skin. It even improves skin’s hydration levels for a full 8-hours. Does it surprise you to think of using oil on problem/blemish-prone skin? The fact is that people with problematic skin actually do need hydration and moisture! One of the hallmarks of blemish-prone skin is impaired barrier function. The arrival of this product into my hands had great timing! I over-did my benzol peroxide this week while treating a mild breakout. So, the area around my nose and on my chin is red and peeling. I find this Cannabis Oil Herbal Concentrate to be instantly soothing and hydrating! There is no question, this is a fantastic addition to my skincare arsenal! 

To Use:

Wash your face as usual and apply your toner and serum if you use those. Then apply about 2 drops to your face and gently pat in. Follow up with your moisturizer or moisturizing sunscreen. I like to use this in the evenings. That way this soothing product is layered on before my Rx acne cream (I use Retin-A). When my skin is feeling more irritated that usual, I apply both morning and evening. 

There is no question, this Cannabis Oil Concentrate from Kiehl's helped my skin! It boosts hydration while calming irritation. Plus, I love the medicinal scent. This product was also very easy to add to my routine. I just love it!!!

Let's start by reviewing some history of this infamous product:

So, what is the scoop? I have some intel directly from Kiehl's about this new formulation:
Kiehl's Ultra Facial Cream is now formulated without parabens, carbamides and T.E.A.!

While relaunching the formula, Kiehl’s chemists also took the opportunity to conduct additional hydration testing, utilizing a testing methodology that can map hydration results across multiple areas of the face. After just one application, facial skin is 2.3x more hydrated. Skin is softer, smoother, and visibly healthier looking. The new formula was also tested for tolerance on panels of multiple ethnicities and sensitive skins, and was clinically demonstrated in an instrumental study to strengthen the moisture barrier of all skin types.

So, why change the formula?
That is a good question. Why mess with a good thing, right? Well, since the original Ultra Facial Cream launched more than 13 years ago, customer preferences around ingredients have changed.

So, what is my verdict! I just love the new formula of Kiehl's most popular Ultra Facial Cream. I honestly like it just as much as the original...however, now I can be even more confident when I use it because it is paraben-free!

I love giving my hair a bit of lift at the roots. I think it makes all of the difference with my hairstyle. Lately, I am absolutely Obcessed with John Frieda's Luxurious Volume Blow Dry Lotion. I just aim it right at the roots before blowdrying and then I focus the dryer at the roots while pulling my round brush upwards. This menthod was recommended and taught to me by a previous hair stylist. I have been using this trick for years and am super happy with the results when I use this product! It gives me volume and lift that really lasts without stickiness!

My hair is naturally thick. Like, very very thick. However, my hair has a soft slippery texture. So, despite its thickness, it does tend to just lay flat to my head. So, trying to coax volume with products is the key to giving my look some lift and pep. I like volume products that produce results while also leaving your hair touchable. I want to still be able to run my fingers through my hair without them getting stuck.

So, the first product that I tried from this line was the Root Booster Blow Dry Lotion. I liked it so much that I decided to try out the complete line. Overall, it is a total hit with my hair! Combined use of the products gives my hair fantastic shine while also giving great lift while still keeping my hair smooth and finger-combable. Plus, it smells amazing! Standout products for me include the Blow Dry Lotion and the Mousse. Those are staples for me now! I even use the mousse on my daughter. She loves it, too! :)

I am so excited to share about one of my favorite new haircare brands. Introducing n:p beautiful! Apparently I am not alone in my love for this haircare line. According to Meghan Markle, this under the radar hair brand is "Life Changing". Plus, have you seen Megan's hair lately? She always looks flawless! 

n:p beautiful is created by celebrity hairstylist David Babaii and it recently launched at Nordstrom.

The line features innovative styling tools (a vibrating flat iron!) along with haircare containing plant stem cells. Overall, the combination of these two products left my hair feeling super smooth, easy to comb, and soft without being weighed down.

This shampoo is formulated to cleanse and replenish lackluster hair. This plant-based shampoo suds up beautifully while using its sustainably sourced stem cell formula (with soothing raw lotus root and rare dry apple extracts) to tame frizz and smooth your hair.

Conditioner:

What is the key to combating damage? A good daily conditioner? It’s the key to good hair! This Hydrating Conditioner has ingredients including a mix of nourishing dry apple extract, sustainably sourced raw lotus root, and the n:p stem cell formula. This prouct leaves your hair feeling smooth and looking polished without being weighed down. That is a feat!

Overall, I am absolutely thrilled with the n:p beautiful hair care line! I can't wait to try out more products from the line as I have had fantastic results with the shampoo and conditioner. I can already tell that consistant use of these products is going to have my hair in much better overall condition and shape. Plus, the scent is so beautiful and really lingers in my hair. Yes, these products are pricey...but, totally worth it!

Have you browsed COVERGIRL lately at the drugstore? They have some amazing new products that I am super excited to share with you!

Covergirl LashBlast Active Mascara:
The Covergirl LashBlast family of mascaras are always my favorite to use. I honestly do not have a favorite amongst the various formulas of LashBlast. I tend to change it up amongst these as my everyday mascaras. I just love the cubby brush and the overall feel of the chubby wand. Plus, LashBlast mascaras never smudge on me. That is a feat as I have very watery eyes. So, I was superexcited to try out this new Active version of a product that was already a fave. :)

Lash Blast Active Mascara gives an instant boost of volume. It promises up to 24 hour wear. Now, I did not test that, lol. However, it is quite a claim. I must say, this mascara does wear extremely long and extremely well! I am actually someone who wears a little bit of makeup to the gym. No, nothing too crazy...I just do the basics: concealer, mascara, and lip balm. Typically, when I hit the gym, I do it in the morning and then go about my day and shower sometime before dinner. So, that means that I want at least concealer and mascara on while running errands and such. This mascara easily lasts through a workout and my busy day! This mascara comes in 4 shades.

Covergirl Outlast Active 24 Hour Foundation:
I have always been a fan of Covergirl foundations. They are a deal at the drugstore and I typically have great results! I am not an everyday foundation wearer. However, when I do wear foundation. I really want it to last and wear well. Longwearing formulas like this one are fantastic for extended wear! While I don't wear it to the gym or during a workout, I still want it to hold up to sweat! I live in sunny hot and humid Atlanta. So, anything sweat-proof is a must! The new Outlast Active 24 HR Foundation is available in 18 shades for Fair to Deep skin tones.  It’s a light-weight foundation that has fantastic wear! I tried the shade #810 Classic Ivory which is just a touch too dark for me. There is a shade lighter that I need to try that I think would be perfect for my fair skin. I love the coverage and the finish. Plus, the added SPF is a must!

Covergirl Get in Line Active Eye Liner:
When I feel like getting "fancy", I put on liquid liner and do a basic cat eye. The Covergirl Get in Line Active Eye Liner combines a lightweight feel with intense color for maximum impact. The long wear formula is waterproof and sweat-proof to fit your active lifestyle. Just like with mascara, I appreciate a long-wearing sweat and waterproof formula when it comes to eyeliner. I just want to put it on and not have it budge until I take it off. This product does just that! So, I am super happy with it!  This product comes in 3 shades.
