Season 2 Episode 12 Beauty Look

Makeup By: Katie Jane Hughs, Celebrity Makeup Artist

Skin: 

To capture Ashley's lit-from-within glow, Katie Jane Huges used Revlon PhotoReady Candid Natural Finish Anti-Pollution Foundation in Medium Beige and Revlon PhotoReady Candid Antioxidant Concealer in Biscuit by buffing them into her skin with the Revlon Highlighter Brush. 

Eyes:

Huges used 7 shades of eyeshadow to conjure this shimmery, softly diffused wash of sultry purple. She started with ColorStay Not Just Nudes Shadow Palette in Romantic Nudes, mixing the mauve and nude brown shades together on the brush, swirling them on the lid and under Ashley's eyes. The lavender shadows from the palette were then mixed and swirled from the lash line up to the brow bone, extending them a little past the corner of her eyes. To add the incandesent glow, Huges took the purple shades from the PhotoReady Eye Contour Kit in Watercolors and using the same diffusion technique, applied them to the inner corners and center of the lids, then used the highlighter shade under the brow bone, and blended all the colors to lift the eyes up. Several coats of Revlon Volumizing Mascara in Black on false lashes added drama. 

Cheeks:

Ashley's cheeks were softly shaped using the PhotoReady Instant Cheek Make in Sweet Coral, sweeping the cheek color over the apples of her cheeks and the highlighter on the highpoints of the face and down the nose. To subtly contour, Huges swired the tiniest bit of powder from the ColorStay Brow Kit in Soft Brown underneath her cheekbones. She even enhanced the natural beuaty mark on Ashley's cheek with the ColorStay Brow Pencil in Dark Brown. 

Brows:

To define Ashley's arches, Huges mixed together the Dark Brown and the Soft Black shades of ColorStay Brow Kit, using short dash-like strokes to get the right balance of tones.

Who else watched the Golden Globes last night? I love watching award shows! As an avid tv and movie buff, I always look forward to awards season. Besides the fabulous fashion and makeup, I like to make lists on my phone of all of the great shows and movies that I must watch soon (if I haven't already). 

What made the show even more exicting last night was seeing one of my favorite actresses, Nicole Kidman win for a role that was totally deserving. She was *so good* in Big Little Lies. So, it is no surprise that she won! Plus, what a timely role considering the Blackout theme of last night's fashion. Her role was heartbreaking but also inspiring as the unity and friendship of the women in the film showcased the solidarity of all women.

I'm very socially and politically inspired and never thought I'd say that about makeup! I felt like if we are supporting equality and women’s rights, then makeup and hair should also be a part of the movement in some way too. My way, as a makeup artist, was through my ability to use color. Color has been used to convey and communicate messages and meanings without using words for centuries, and for Kerry’s makeup, I chose to use shades of purple and mauve because they stand for loyalty, purpose, and inserting steadfastness to a cause. What better color to apply for tonight?! Love purple, and everyone can wear it in their own way too!”

Get the Look: Project Runway Jr's Winning Look Episode 6, Firefighting Clients

I just love sharing "Get the Look" posts...especially when the looks come from one of my favorite TV Shows: Project Runway Jr! 

A couple weeks ago, on Project Runway Junior, the models walked their looks straight off the catwalk and into the arms of their fire-fighting husbands! The emerging designers were tasked with creating date night looks for real women. The winning look was hot, hot, hot and left the model feeling confident as she made her runway debut on national television.

Celebrity makeup artist Scott Patric created a gorgeous nude glow to complement the winning design, with butter LONDON’s Glazen Eye Gloss in Spark taking center stage. The final look highlighted the model’s natural features with a subtle contour and glossy nude lips, letting the fiery dress do all the talking. The makeup look is fresh, natural and easy to wear both day and night, dressed up or dressed down.

I got to try out a few makeup items from this look, and I am so impressed! This butterLONDON bronzer palette is gorgeous and so versatile! The lipstick is a perfect YLBB (your lips but better) shade and the gloss is the perfect topper! I love wearing the items from this look!

Season 2 of Project Runway Junior airs Thursdays at 9pm EST/PST on Lifetime. It is an awesome show! Be sure to check it out. I always get so inspired with the fashions, the styling, and the makeup...not to mention: the talent of the contestants!

Get the 2017 SAG Awards look with LORAC: Maisie Williams

I am so excited to bring you more SAG Awards coverage with this "Get the Look" beauty breakdown of Maisie Williams's look for the evening. 2014 Golden Globes "Get the Look" with Laura Mercier: Reese Witherspoon

What a great Golden Globes this year! While I enjoy watching the show, I must admit that I like the pre-show Red Carpet specials even bettter!!! I always love to see how my favorite stars get glammed up. The dresses, the jewelry, the hair, the makeup...I just adore full-on Hollywood glamour! 

When watching the Red Carpet pre-shows, I always keep an eye out for my favorite stars. Reece Witherspoon is certainly one of my faves. Not only do I love her movies, but also I tend to copy her look as I, too, am a fair skinned blonde with straight hair. I am so excited about her look this year! I have honestly been searching for a cute bob hair cut with bangs, and I might just copy her look when I get up the nerve to cut my hair, lol. Her makeup was gorgeous, too! 

The Laura Mercier makeup team has shared with me how they created Reece's Golden Globes look this year! Her makeup was done by makeup artist Mai Quynh. The look was inspired by her golden complexion and her gorgeous Calvin Klein dress. 

Here is how Mai Quynh created Reece's Makeup Look:

FACE: Golden, flawless skin

• Quynh first prepped the skin with La Praire Skin Caviar Luxe Cream and applied Fresh Sugar Lip Treat to her lips. Then she used a foundation brush to apply Laura Mercier Foundation Primer, ($32) all over Witherspoon’s face.
• She then applied NEW Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Flawless Fluide Foundation (COMING FALL 2014) using a BeautyBlender Sponge. She stated, “I love how the natural, matte texture of this foundation melts into the skin, leaving it smooth and flawless.”  
• Next, Quynh applied Laura Mercier Secret Concealer, ($23) under Witherspoon’s eyes and Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage, ($32) around her nose.
• She then applied Laura Mercier Crème Cheek Colour in Praline, ($24) onto the apples of Witherspoon’s cheeks and layered Laura Mercier Second Skin Cheek Colour in Peach Whisper, ($25) on top. She stated, “Layering creams and powders will ensure that your makeup will stay on longer.”
• Lastly, Quynh applied Laura Mercier Pressed Setting Powder in Translucent, ($34) using the Laura Mercier Finishing Brush, ($42). She then dusted the actress’s forehead, cheeks and chin with Too Faced Milk Chocolate Soleil Powder Bronzer using the Laura Mercier Bronzer Brush, ($45).

LIPS: Neutral lips

• Quynh first used Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau Weightless Lip Colour in Play, ($24) and swept Laura Mercier Lip Glacé in Bellini, ($24) on top.

EYES: Bright, sultry eyes were the main focus of the look

• First, Quynh mixed Laura Mercier Caviar Stick Eye Colours in Sand Glow and Cocoa, ($26/each) and applied the color from the inside of her eyelid, blending it towards the outer lid.
• Next, she applied Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Colour in Fire Glow, ($24) from the lash line to the crease using the Laura Mercier All Over Eye Colour Brush, ($30). She then blended the shadow using the Laura Mercier Eye Crease Brush, ($29).
• For added depth and dimension, Quynh added Laura Mercier Illuminating Eye Colour in Earth Glow, ($24) to the outer crease. She smudged both Illuminating Eye Colours to the lower lash line, using the Laura Mercier Smudge Brush, ($24)  
• Finally, she rimmed Witherspoon’s eyes with Laura Mercier Kohl Eye Pencil in Brown Copper, ($22) and finished the look with two coats of Laura Mercier Long Lash Mascara in Black, ($24).  

So that is how Reece's look was created! I know it is a look that I am going to try to copy with Laura Mercier products!!! What Stars' looks were your favorites from the show?
