Neutrogena Intense Gel Eyeliner
Neutrogena Nourishing Brow Pencil in Brown
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Plumping Mascara in Black
Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Shine in Radiant Rose

SKIN PREP
I always like to begin makeup application with a fresh clean face. I start by cleansing and hydrating Kerry’s skin with the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleansing Towelettes and applying Hydro Boost Water Gel to boost hydration, lock in moisture, and nourish skin. This is a great gel cream that can be used as a primer before makeup application. It hydrates while creating a smooth canvas to achieve flawless skin. I apply it all over the face and then proceed to moisturizing the lips with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatment, and leave it on until lipstick application. I blot the lip with tissue paper and apply the desired lip shade.

MAKEUP APPLICATION
Once the Hydro Boost Water Gel is absorbed on the skin, I begin makeup application. My first makeup application step is to highlight and conceal imperfections wherever needed with Hydro Boost Hydrating Concealer in Deep, which is the shade that compliments Kerry's skin tone. I apply it under the eye area to conceal any darkness and highlight certain areas of the face where I want light to reflect. These areas are:  under eye, nose bridge, center chin, and center of forehead. To create an even skin tone on Kerry, I used Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup in Cocoa. This foundation is one of my favorites, it truly makes the skin glow, gives great coverage, it's long lasting, and creates a healthy complexion without having to use any additional enhancers on the skin. It’s the perfect match to Kerry’s skin tone, and makes her skin look flawless all day long. I apply it all over her face and blend with a round brush in a circular motion for a smoother and more natural application. Right after the foundation, I always like to apply the blush on the apple of the cheeks and blend upward towards the temples.

For this look, I used Neutrogena Essential Cheek Palette by Kerry Washington in Captivating. My inspiration for the eyes was Bridget Bardot’s winged cat eye with a modern graphic edge and a twist of Rock & Roll.  To create the shape for the eye, I used Neutrogena Precision Liquid Eyeliner and outlined it first, and then filled it in with the same eyeliner. I then lined the water rim with Neutrogena Intense Gel Eyeliner and went over the areas that needed more coverage. To enhance and intensify the eye, I glued Ardell’s 3D Faux Mink Lashes 859 on top lashes, and applied a few coats of the amazing Neutrogena Hydro Boost Plumping Mascara for thickness and volume to top and bottom lashes.

I accentuated Kerry’s eyebrows with Neutrogena Nourishing Brow Pencil in Brown. I always finish the look with the lipstick, and the shade for today’s look is lip liner layered with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Lip Shine in Radiant Rose.

KERRY WASHINGTON
MAKEUP ARTIST: CAROLA GONZALEZ

Have you seen all of the beautiful and unique artsy looks from the Met Gala? This has to be one of my very favorite red carpet events to cover as the looks are just so creative from head-to-toe!

Kerry Washington looked beautiful, as always, in her super unique look. Kerry is a Neutrogena Brand Ambassador. They used many of my favorite Neutrogena products on her for her look and to prep her skin for her look. I am a HUGE fan of the HydroBoost line. I am not surprised it was a key ingredient in making her skin look so good! So, here is her beauty breakdown directly from Neutrogena:

SKINCARE PREP

“In order to achieve Kerry’s healthy glowing complexion, I always start by cleansing her skin with Neutrogena’s Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes in Fragrance Free. I always like to begin makeup application with clean, fresh skin.  I then proceed to using the Neutrogena Hydro Boost dream team.  My first step, Hydro Boost Water Gel layered with Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum, to boost hydration, and Hydro Boost City Shield Facial Gel Mist to lock in moisture, and replenish skin. The combination of these products work great together as a primer to use before makeup application because they hydrate while creating a smooth canvas to achieving flawless skin. I then proceed to moisturizing the lips with Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatment and leave it on until lipstick application. I blot the lip with tissue paper and apply the desired lip shade.”

MAKEUP APPLICATION

“Once the Hydro Boost trio has absorbed into the skin, I begin makeup application. My first makeup application step is to highlight and conceal imperfections wherever needed with Hydro Boost Hydrating Concealer in Deep, which is the shade that compliments Kerry's skin tone. I apply it under the eye area to conceal any darkness and highlight certain areas of the face to reflect light. These areas are: under eye, nose bridge, center chin, and center of forehead. To create an even skin tone on Kerry, I used Neutrogena’s new Hydro Boost Hydrating Foundation Stick in Cocoa. I love this new foundation stick because you can build the foundation from light to full coverage, and it can also be used as a concealer. For Kerry’s eyes I wanted to create an ethereal, playful, and fanciful look. I applied different layers of iridescent eyeshadows and layered them all together and extended the application to her cheekbones. I also layered both shades of  Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Illuminator in Sandstone and Rose Gold right on top of the eyeshadows on the cheekbones to create a more luminous effect.

Right after the highlighter, I applied the blush on top of the highlighters and the apple of the cheeks.  For this look, I used Neutrogena’s Healthy Skin Blush in Flushed. I then applied a few Lashify B10 lashes on the edge of the eyes, lined the upper lash line  with  Neutrogena Intense Gel Eyeliner in Dark Brown, and applied a few coats of Neutrogena’s Hydro Boost Plumping Mascara for thickness and volume to top and bottom lashes.

I accentuated Kerry’s eyebrows with Neutrogena Nourishing Brow Pencil in Brown.  I always finish the look with the lipstick,  and the shade for today’s look is  Neutrogena’s MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Almond Nude.”

PRODUCT FOCUS: NEUTROGENA HYDRO BOOST HYDRATING FOUNDATION STICK + HYDRO BOOST ILLUMINATOR

“The Hydro Boost Hydrating Foundation Stick has a coverage range from light to full. It’s buildable, and can be also be used as a concealer to spot conceal any unevenness on the skin. It has a very creamy and hydrating formula and can be applied with a sponge applicator or a round foundation brush. I also love the new Hydro Boost Illuminator, it glides smoothly onto the skin. It gives a very nice natural sheen to the skin and can also be used on the body to highlight areas where you want to illuminate the skin. Today I layered the Sandstone and Rose Gold Illuminator and applied them on Kerry’s cheekbones with a small round brush in circular motion.”

Neutrogena Essential Eye and Cheek Palettes by Kerry Washington

 Affiliate Link Press Sample

by Kerry Washington

Looking for some everyday neutrals to freshen up your look for Summer? Well, look no further than these gorgeous palettes created by Kerry Washington for Neutrogena. Kerry has been a Neutrogena celebrity brand ambassador for Neutrogena for years. So, I am happy to see a collaborative range of makeup from her! I am a huge fan of her on Scandal. So, you just know that I had to try out these gorgeous palettes....plus, I am a neutrals girl at heart and that is exactly what you will find in these super wearable palettes!

The eye palette contains 5 neutral shades ranging from light to dark: Brilliant, Confident, Flirty, Focused, and Powerful. Pigmentation and texure varies, but overall these shadows are very blendable! The shadows have a very subtle shimmer without being at all sparkly. I can almost create a full look with these! I just had to add a very light shade for my inner corner/lid (as I am very fair and always like to lighten up that area). However, for most skin tones, I think this palette is all you need for a complete eye look!

The cheek palette contains a bronzer (Grateful), a blush (Captivating), and a highlighter (Elegant). The blush is gorgeous!!! I love the pretty pop of coral that this gives. For me, a coral blush is the quintessential summer staple! I am all about subtle for the summer with makeup with a pop of bright blush. The bronzer and highlighter lean towards warm. I do wish the highlighter was a bit more sparkly and a tad lighter, but overall the palette is very nice (especially the blush!).

To complete the look, be sure to check out the amazing range of HydroBoost products! I am a fan of the mascara and lipglosses in particular (and of course the amazing HydroBoost Gel Cream!!! Which is a new skincare staple of mine).

Be sure to check out these Neutrogena Essential Eye and Cheek Palettes by Kerry Washington out next time you are in Ulta!

I just adore Kerry Washington. She is gorgeous! Plus, I am a huge Scandal fan. Kerry is a Neutrogena brand ambassador. So, I am always curious to hear about her skincare and beauty breakdowns as I use a lot of Neutrogena products! I just love it when a celebrity look is so accessible with drugstore items.

The Met Ball is the quintessential fashion event. The celebrities all look like works of art in their unique designer outfits and their head-to-toe inspried looks. Kerry Washington's look really stood out!

Here is her complete beauty breakdown:

MAKEUP / Makeup Artist Carola Gonzalez

Carola Gonzalez - My inspiration:

My inspiration  was inspired by the different patches, and textures of the Michael Kors  dress Kerry was wearing for the Met Ball. I gave Kerry a minimal eye with a modern, punk twist and kept the skin and lips to a bare minimum.

Product Breakdown:
How To Breakdown:
In order to achieve Kerry’s healthy glowing complexion, I always start by cleansing her skin with Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes in Fragrance Free. I like to begin with clean and fresh skin.  I then proceed to using Neutrogena Hydro Boost dream team for skin and lips.  My first step, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum to boost hydration, lock in moisture, and nourish skin. This is one of the best primers to use before makeup application because it hydrates while creating a smooth canvas to achieving flawless skin. I then proceed to moisturize the lips with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatmentand leave it on until the end, and blot before lipstick application. Once the Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum has absorbed on the skin, I begin makeup application. My first makeup application step is to highlight and conceal imperfections wherever needed with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Concealer in Deep, which is the shade that compliments Kerry's skin tone. I apply it under the eye area to conceal any darkness and highlight the area, on the nose bridge, center chin, and center of forehead. To create an even skin tone on Kerry, I used Neutrogena new Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint in Cocoa. This is Neutrogena's new foundation with hyaluronic acid, which provides 24 hour hydration, gives great coverage, it's long lasting, and creates a radiant, healthy complexion without having to use any additional enhancers on the skin. It’s the perfect match to Kerry’s skin tone, and makes her skin glowy and flawless. I apply it all over her face and blend with a round brush in a circular motion for a smoother application. Right after the foundation, I always like to apply the blush on the apples of the cheeks and blend upward towards the temples.  For this look, I gave Kerry a healthy glow by applying Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends.

I kept the eyes very minimal and simple.  I applied Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow + Built-in Primer in Cocoa Mauve (shade #4) all over her eyelid and bottom lash line.  I then lined the top of  her lash line with a thin line using Sisley Paris Eyeliner in Snow. I proceeded to adhering a strip of Ardell Faux Mink 810, to enhance the eye makeup and applied a few coats of Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black to top and bottom lashes and brushed lashes with a brow brush to separate lashes and get rid of any mascara excess.  I accentuated Kerry’s eyebrows with Anastasia’s Brow Wiz in Brunette. I penciled eyebrows in the direction of hair growth using a matching shade to Kerry’s own eyebrow color.

I always finish the look with the lipstick and layered Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Hetloo with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Lip Shine in Berry Brown.

HAIR / Stylist Takisha Sturdivant Drew

Takisha Sturdivant Drew – My Inspiration:

From the moment I saw Kerry in her Michael Kors dress I felt her hair should be sleek and short with bangs. The dress had a lot of details in it so I wanted to style her hair in a sleek, edgy way. By me keeping the hair short, it complemented the patchwork and collage textiles in the dress in an effortless way.

Product Breakdown:

TSDHair Clip in Extensions
Body Wave Hair

Remington T|Studio Thermaluxe Ceramic Dryer
Remington T|Studio Thermaluxe Ceramic Iron

How To Breakdown:

Step 1: I shampooed her hair with the Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo to remove any build up from the hair. Then I moisturized her hair with theNeutrogena Triple Repair Deep Recovery Hair Mask to soften her locks and add that beautiful shine to her hair.

Step 2: I blow dried her hair with the Remington T|Studio ceramic blow dryer to smooth her strands out easily and leave the hair silky without damaging it.

Step 3: I clipped in TSDHair extensions and razor cut the hair into a messy short bob and then used my scissors to give the bangs that sharp finish.

Step 4: I parted her hair down the middle and took large sections of it and flat ironed her hair with the T|Studio ceramic flat iron.  The great part about this flat iron is that it will keep Kerry's hair healthy. She's all about the health of hair!

How To:

"In order to achieve Kerry’s glowing complexion, I always start by applying Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel to boost hydration and nourish the skin. This is one of the best primers to use before makeup application because it hydrates while creating a smooth canvas. I proceed to moisturizing the lips with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatment and leave it on until the end, blotting before lipstick application. Once Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel is absorbed on the skin, I begin makeup application. My first step is to highlight and conceal imperfections wherever needed with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Concealer in Deep. I apply it under the eye area to conceal any darkness and highlight the areas on the bridge of the nose, the center of the chin and the center of the forehead. To create an even skin tone on Kerry, I used Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint in Cocoa.

This is the new foundation Neutrogena is launching in February with the hydrating benefits of hyaluronic acid. It moisturizes and plumps the skin for 24 hours and gives great coverage. It’s long lasting and creates a radiant, healthy complexion without having to use any additional enhancers on the skin. It’s the perfect match to Kerry’s skin tone and makes her skin look flawless. I apply it all over her face and blend with a round brush for a smoother application. Right after the foundation, I always like to apply the blush on the apple of the cheeks and blend upward towards the temples. For this particular look, I wanted to give Kerry rosy cheeks and used Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush in Vibrant, which did just that.

I wanted Kerry’s eye makeup to look fierce, classy and dramatic, with an edge. I used Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow + Built-In Primer in Smoky Steel. I applied shade #1, the lightest silver shade, as a base all over the eyes and on the inner corners to highlight. I proceeded to apply shade #4, the darkest shade on palette all over the eyelid and blended upwards until I reached the area above the crease. I wanted the dark eyeshadow to show and lay on top of her eyes when they were open. With the same shade and using a smaller brush (a precision brush), I shaped Kerry’s eyes by extending the eyeshadow towards the outside of the eye creating a pointed shape. Next, I dragged it down under the eye area right below lash line, connecting the upper with the lower eye makeup. I proceeded to blend the harsh lines with a blending brush to create a smooth application. Next, I lined the upper lash line, following Kerry’s eye shape and the inside of the bottom eye rim to create more intensity with Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Liner in Cosmic Black. I adhered a strip of Ardell Faux Lashes #811 and layered a few coats of Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black to the top and bottom lashes and brushed the lashes with a brow brush to separate them and get rid of any mascara excess.

To accentuate Kerry’s eyebrows I used Anastasia’s Brow Wiz in Brunette. I penciled her eyebrows in the direction of hair growth using a matching shade to Kerry’s own eyebrow color.

I always finish the look with lipstick. I first lined the lips with Urban Decay’s Midnight Cowboy lip liner and then applied Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Shine in Berry Brown."

Hair Stylist: Takisha Sturdivant-Drew

My Inspiration:

"When I saw her Roberto Cavalli white dress I was truly inspired to go with a very simplistic, chic and smooth hairstyle with a long middle part and some slight color to highlight the hair. I felt like the strapless and form fitting dress had a very 70's look to it that was effortlessly sexy."

Product Breakdown:

Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo
Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask

Tools:
Dyson Supersonic Hair Dryer
Dyson Smoothing nozzle

Hair:
TSDHair Extensions Clip ins
Custom medium brown color
Natural brown clipins

How To:
"I shampooed her hair with Neutrogena Anti-Residue Shampoo and conditioned her hair with Neutrogena Triple Moisture Deep Recovery Hair Mask. The conditioner gave Kerry's hair a really nice shine and softened her strands.

Secondly, I blew out her damp hair with the Dyson supersonic blow dryer. This blow dryer is great because Kerry is all about the health of her hair and doesn't like a lot heat on it at all. Plus it dried her hair in the half the time. I attached the Dyson smoothing nozzle to the dryer which dried her hair gently and really fast with a medium size brush to smooth her strands out nicely. This dryer prevents her hair from getting damaged by extreme heat because the temperature stays under control so it won't damage the hair.

To finish off her hairstyle, I parted her hair down the middle to open up the hair show her face. Next, I parted her hair in the back and clipped in TSDHair extensions, as well as in the middle. To finish off the hairstyle I clipped in the medium brown custom color done by me around her face."

What a gorgeous look! Kerry looked fantastic. Now that you know all of the products and steps, you can create this look at home with Neutrogena!

GET THE LOOK:
First Kerry cleansed her skin with the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Cleanser prior to starting makeup application - it's always best to start with a fresh face. In order to achieve Kerry’s glowing complexion, I always start by applying Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel to boost hydration and nourish the skin. This is one of the best primers to use before makeup application because it hydrates the skin while creating a smooth canvas. Then I moisturize lips with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatment (launching February 2017) and leave it on until the end, and blot before lipstick application. Once the Hydro Boost is absorbed into the skin, I begin makeup application.

My first step is to highlight and conceal imperfections wherever needed with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Concealer in Deep (launching February 2017). I apply it under the eye area to conceal any darkness and highlight the area, on the nose bridge, center chin, and center forehead. To create an even skin tone on Kerry, I used Neutrogena’s new Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint in Cocoa (launching February 2017).  This is the new foundation Neutrogena is launching with the benefits of hyaluronic acid - it hydrates for 24 hours, has great coverage and creates a radiant, healthy complexion without having to use any additional enhancers on the skin. It’s the perfect match to Kerry’s skin tone, and makes her skin look flawless. I apply it all over her face and blend with a round brush for a smoother application. Right after the foundation, I always like to apply the blush on the apple of the cheeks and blend upward towards the temples. In this case, I wanted Kerry to have a flushed look, and actually used Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush in Flushed, which did exactly what I wanted.

For the eyes I went for a shade that resembled Kerry’s own skin tone. Something that accentuated her eyelids in a fresh natural manner. I used Neutrogena Nourishing Longwear Eyeshadow Palette: Mink Brown Eyeshadow. To recreate Kerry’s eyes, I applied eyeshadow (#3) all over her eyelid and blended to crease with a blending brush. With the same eyeshadow I lined the bottom lash line using a small brush. I proceeded to line the upper lash line, following Kerry’s eye shape, with Neutrogena Nourishing Eyeliner in Cosmic Black. In order to make Kerry’s eye pop, I adhered a strip of Velour’s Mink Lashes, from the Day and Night set, using the Night strip. Then I layered a few coats of Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black to top and bottom lashes and brushed lashes with a brow brush to separate lashes and get rid of any mascara excess.
To accentuate Kerry’s eyebrows I used Anastasia’s Brow Wiz in Brunette. I penciled eyebrows in the direction of hair growth using a matching shade to Kerry’s own eyebrow’s color.

I always finish the look with the lipstick and in this case I layered Dolce & Gabbana’s Glam 355 lipstick with Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Deep Plum.

Secondly, I blew out her damp hair with the GHD air elite blow dryer and used the GHD size 3 ceramic vented radial brush to straighten her natural hair. Then I parted her hair across the back at the nape and smoothed out her hair with the GHD platinum flat iron and worked my way throughout her hair to finish off the look. I love this flat iron because of its even heat and all you need is one stroke across the hair to smooth it.

To finish off her hairstyle, I parted her hair on the left side because I thought it complemented the dress well. Then I parted her hair in the back and clipped in TSDHair extensions, as well as in the middle I clipped in the soft brown custom colored by me and finished off the hairstyle by clipping in the blonde TSDhair extensions around her face.

GET THE LOOK:
My skin prep is always to wash her face first with Neutrogena Naturals Purifying Facial Cleanser followed by the scrub to really polish the skin and get a smooth surface to apply flawless make up. I love the Neutrogena Hydro Boost Water Gel moisturizer, as it's not greasy and it keeps the skin hydrated. I used the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Serum under the moisturizer today to get an even more of a nice canvas to paint her face.

I started applying the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Foundation (launches February 2017) all over her face. I don't use a lot of powder to get the dewy look after her own oils start to come out, and it gives it a fresh healthy look. Mostly I like to powder her t-zone.  I brush just a little Neutrogena Hydro Boost Concealer under her eyes to give it a highlight. The Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blush in Bronzed is my go-to on her. We love this shade.

On her eyes I picked the Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow palette with primer in Mink Brown. I used the darker shade in crease and outer eye and highlighted with the lightest shade on lid and under brow bone.  I lined the top and bottom of her eye with the Neutrogena Nourishing Eye Pencil in Black.  I try to only line mid to outer eye to keep it more open. To finish the soft smokey eye I used the Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara in black mixed with a few layers of Neutrogena Healthy Lengths mascara. We are not shy. I love giving it a ton of layers to get her lashes as big as I can.

On her lips I moisturized with the new Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydration Lip Treatment (launching February 2017). It also fills in the little lines around mouth to get flawless application with any lipstick over it. We used our favorite Neutrogena MoistureSmooth Color Stick in Classic Nude.

What gorgeous looks! What were your favorite celebrity looks for the evening?
XOXO! Thanks for reading! :)
