Do you have dry and damaged hair (like me?)? I seem to be constantly in the cycle of hair damage and hair repair. Trust me, I do everything that I can to keep my hair healthy. Repairing My Damaged Hair:

My Hair:
Alas, I must admit...I am dealing with some damage in my hair. As careful as I am with taking care of my hair, the damage still happened as a result of a botched highlighting job a few months ago. Needless to say, I found a new and wonderful hairdresser and am growing out my damage.

Finding the right products for your hair type and hair situation is crucial. I tend to gravitate towards moisturizing formulas or repairing formulas for shampoo and conditioner. I always use heat protectant and leave-in conditioners as well. Plus, I do weekly protein treatments and moisturizing treatments. All of these methods are working together to help repair (or mask) past damage and are working to prevent future damage and breakage.

I am always looking for the very best products available for treating damaged hair and preventing future damage. The Promend line from Nexxus had me intrigued! It is a line designed to mend and prevent split ends. While split ends are not my particular problem, split ends are a form of damage and therefore the products will likely work for my type of damage/breakage.

Nexxus Promend Line:
Before I dive into individual product details, lets talk about the gorgeous and intoxicating scent of these products! I am not even able to describe the scent, but I want to say that it is soft and somewhat powdery and vanilla-like. It is lovely and it lightly lingers in my hair.

Nexxus Promend Shampoo and Conditioner:
The formula of the Promend Shampoo is very rich and thick. It works up a nice lather and the combination of the shampoo and conditioner leaves my hair feeling soft, smooth, and conditioned. The products seem to leave behind a protective layer that smooths the hair (almost like you used a leave-in). While my hair is extremely prone to tangles, I notice that my hair is much easier to comb out when I use the Promend products.

The formula is silicone-free. The shampoo and conditioner seal and bind split ends. This "sealing" works to smooth out the rough texture from my highlight damage. The products are formulated with Elastin Protein and Flax Seed Oil for hair nourishment and protection. I am really amazed at how soft and smooth my hair feels after using this. No, no product can truely "heal" my past damage. However, a formula like the Nexxus Promend producuts work to smooth and bind your hair so that the damage is less apparent.

My only critique of the Nexxus Promend Shampoo and Conditioner is with the packaging. I find that the bottle shape and size is extremely hard to squeeze...the Shampoo is fine as it is thinner. However, I have a very hard time getting the conditioner out. I store it upside down in the shower to help get the product to the top. Even doing that, I have a very difficult time.

Nexxus Promend Leave-In Cream:
This is a nice next step after Shampooing and Conditioning your hair with the Promend Line. Like the shampoo and conditioner, it contains  Flax Seed Oil and Elastin Protein. This product works miracles for smoothing out rough areas and making your hair super easy to comb through. It smooths and protects beautifully. I think I might have found my new favorite leave-in!!! It works without leaving my hair feeling weighed down nor greasy. Plus, it only takes a small amount to get great results.

Nexxus Promend Heat Protecting Mist:
Every single time I get my highlights with my new hairdresser she reminds me that I must use a heat protectant when I style my hair. Heat protectants are an absolute must for anyone who blow dries, flat irons, or heat curls their hair. So, my final step before blow drying my hair is to give my hair a light misting of the Nexxus Promend Heat Protecting Mist.

Another tip: I let my hair air dry to about 75% dry before blow drying it to limit the heat exposure. I use a large paddle brush and then a large round brush to smooth out and style my hair with the dryer on medium heat.

If you are looking for professional salon quality hair products to remediate past damage and to protect your hair from future damage, then look no further than the Nexxus Promend line. I am totally hooked and will continue to use these amazing products. The combined effect of using this line on my hair has left my hair feeling and looking smoother and softer. The rough texture from the damage is minimized and my hair is left looking and feeling much more healthy and managed.

This mask is so unique with its blue moisture micro pearls in the formula (I did a double take the first time I used it as the product looks like it would exfoliate). I just apply it in the shower after washing my hair. I leave on until I am done showering and I rinse out.

Oh my poor hair! I am combatting some really bad damage and breakage. Trust me, I baby my hair. I wash ever/other day, use good products, air dry as much as I can, and do weekly or bi-weekly deep conditioning and protein treatments. However, a recent bad color/highlighting experience has left my hair with chemical damage. Luckily, I am with a new colorist and am working towards getting my hair back into shape. My hair has been overprocessed and has breakage near the crown. Plus, the texture is "funny" when its wet. I suspect cuticle and possibly even some cortex damage in spots. Give Your Hair a Shine Boost with a Boost of Protection: White Sands Porosity The Fix

I seem to be in the constant search for that "Holy Grail" hair serum that will leave my hair looking super shiny and fabulous. 

My hair is long and is dry and somewhat damaged from highlights. I put a lot of work into my hair as far as salon visits, general maintenance (washing, conditioning, drying, etc), and special treatments (protein treatments, mositure treatments, leave-ins, etc). However, even with all of my extra "work", sometimes my hair still looks lacklustre. The shine factor seems to be the thing that is missing. 

Yes, I have a few fabulous shine products on hand that I do swear by to give me that shine boost. However, I am constantly worrying about those products being discontinued or that they might become hard to find. I must have back ups. So, I frequently search for other products that might work well. As a beauty blogger, I do try out a lot of hair serums and leave-ins. However, only a few work well enough for me to devote time to review them! Enter White Sands Porosity The Fix!

I am just adoring this multipurpose leave-in! From the pretty purple-ness of the liquid to the cuteness of the bottle, I just had to try it! Plus, as all of you with processed blonde or highlighted hair know, processed blonde hair is extremely porous. Finding products that work, like Porosity The Fix by White Sands, is the key to filling in the gaps that leave blonde hair overly porous and weak. White Sands Porosity The Fix helps to combat the issues caused by porosity and equalize your hair while also leaving it shiny and protected.

A little bit goes a long way with this product. I just spray it lightly on my hand and then distribute it throughout my hair. You can also spray directly onto your hair. However, I feel like I have a little more control when I spray into my hands and work it in this way. 

How I use: 

When my hair is freshly washed and towel dried, I spray a little on my hands and work it through my hair right after applying my styling products. This product acts as a heat protectant as well as a shine boosting serum. I probably use about 2-3 sprays in my hands for my below shoulder-length hair. Then I blow dry with a round brush as usual. When I am all done drying my hair. I spray about 2 more sprays worth onto my hands and then run that over the top layers of my hair for a shine boost. I love the results! It gives shine while also protecting my hair against heat damage. Also, I love the light feel of this product. It does not weigh my hair down at all nor leave it looking greasy. I think the trick is to use a very very small amount. With that said, this bottle is a great deal! It will take me ages to use it up with only using about 4-5 sprays per styling session.

Pureology Perfect 4 Platnium Line: A Blonde Girl's Best Friend!

Oh the plight of dark blonde hair. As a child I was a very light blonde. As I grew older, my hair got darker and darker until it reached a dark blonde shade. My natural color is just a plain "dishwater" blonde...not light enough to be blonde-blonde and not dark enough to be brown. It is the non-color. For me, highlights are essential. I tend to vary my highlights over time. Sometimes I go very light and sometimes just a few highlights. Yes, I have even gone platinum before. However, one thing is consistant: I am a blonde at heart and typically: the-lighter-the-better! I currently opt for hightlights. While I have done all-over color in an ultra pale blonde before, the roots were just too frequent. So, currently, I try to go as light as I can using the highlighting process.

There is nothing that I like better than a "good hair day"! I am sure we can all say that, right? Well, I find that the trick to that is finding the right products for your hair's needs. What makes that tricky? My hair's needs fluctuate depending on the season and the amount of damage that I am dealing with at the time.
