Are you ready for another Makeup War? I sure am! Today we are battling it out over the best mascaras. I am jumping into the fray with one of my all-time favorite mascaras!
What are these Makeup Wars of which I speak?
The Makeup Wars group blog blasts about the same topic about every other week. We link to each others' posts through the themed graphic at the top of the post (see the last mascara, next mascara links) and the blog logo/photo links at the bottom of this post. We encourage you readers to click the links and scroll through all of our blogs to see our favorite mascaras! Our posts all go live at the same time. So, finding out what other Makeup Wars bloggers picked is a surprise to me too! I am always so eager to click through to find out what everyone picked!

I have a love/hate relationship with mascara. I literally do not go a day without it. Even on "no makeup days" I still slap on some concealer, a bit of lip balm, and a couple coats of mascara. So, why the hate? Most mascaras smudge on me....terribly! I am not exactly sure why. My best guess is that my eyes are very sensitive and they tear a lot. Therefore my mascara must stand up to that tearing. Between the wind, bright sun, and allergies, there is almost always something making my eyes water a bit. Sure, I have tried waterproof mascaras to combat this. I just don't like how stiff they make my lashes feel. Plus, those are harder to remove.
So, what is a girl to do? Find the best mascara and stick with it! Rarely do I ever stray from my Holy Grail favorite mascara. Even as a beauty blogger who tests out products, I still do not stray much. I mean, why stray? Are you curious about what I selected as my favorite mascara? Well, keep on readin!
My Holy Grail and All-Time Favorite Mascara: CoverGirl LashBlast:
So, my selection is a tie between two of the LashBlast mascaras from CoverGirl: LashBlast Volume and LashBlast Fusion. I love them both and pretty much rotate between the two depending upon if I feel like buying a purple or an orange tube! I think that I like LashBlast Fusion (purple tube) slightly better for a little added length. However, in my current mascara rotation, I am now using the LashBlast Volume (orange tube).
Why is LashBlast so great? I will make this easy and break it down with bullet points:
- The brush! The spiky rubberized brush is absolutely perfect for applying mascara without clumps! I abhor clumping. This brush combs your lashes while you apply.
- No smudging! This is so basic but as I mentioned, most mascaras smudge on me. The LashBlast mascaras do not.
- The Price! CoverGirl LashBlast mascaras are incredibly affordable. At about $8.00 a tube, this is practically the best deal that you can get on a mascara. I have yet to find a cheaper one that works as well. Mascaras are an item that I rarely go high-end on. Since I am prone to eye irritation with my sensitive eyes, I am religious about tossing my mascaras after about 2 months of use. Since I purchase so frequently, I just refuse to pay more. Typically I only use high end mascaras when I get them as a GWP or a sample.
- The packaging is ridiculously cute. There is just something so appealing about a colorful and "fat" tube of mascara. It really stands out in the sea of black mascara tubes out there! What can I say? I am a sucker for packaging. Is it crazy that I might like the fusion a tad better just because I like purple better than orange? Yes, I am a nut!
I would love to hear about what mascaras are your favorites! While I am pretty set with my LashBlast fusion, you know that I still keep running lists of great products that I would love to try. :)

XOXO!
Over the years I have mostly bought it
myself. However, I have gotten samples too.

When I first tried this mascara I loved it! Then the second time I tried it it was so flaky =( Maybe I got a bad one =( I did love it on the first attempt though
Before I went to cruelty-free products, I loved this mascara. It's a great choice.
LashBlast is in my regular rotation of mascara too. It just gets the job done every time.
@Brooke-Intersting! It does not seem to flake on me. Did you use the waterproof one?
@Phyrra-Thanks! :) Can't wait to read your selection for CF mascara.
@Teri-Totally agreed. :)
This is one of my faves as well!
This mascara is at the top of my list! I occasionally stray with a GWP mascara but those usually end up in my purse in case I forget to put mascara on in the a.m.
I have tried the waterproof version & though it holds up to crying I don't like it as well & it is a bear to remove even with oil.
I am intrigued by the newest addition - Clump Crusher or something along those lines. Might make a nice pair with Lash Blast original.
@Perilously Pale-Great minds think alike!
@LovetoRead68-I am dying to try that new Clump Crusher too! :)
I use non-animal-tested products so I am using Almay lash and grow right now and i like it. But my favorite is tarte lights, camera, lashes--except it's a bit too dry. But I'm always looking for the PERFECT mascara!
@Melissa-Good to know that Almay has a nice and CF option! :) Thanks for sharing!
I love Maybelline Lash Stiletto and my new favorite mascara is Maybelline Mega Plush Volum' Express
@Chantel-Thanks for sharing! I have never tried either of those. :)
This on one of my old standbys. A really goo affordable mascara!
I love this mascara -- and all the LashBlast formulas -- the only mascaras that don't fall off my lashes and make huge black circles under my eyes! I try other ones every now and then, but LashBlast is my HG of mascaras.
This is my Holy Grail of mascaras! No smudging, and best of all, it stays on! No huge black circles under my eyes at the end of the day. Love, love, love this -- and all the LashBlast formulas.
I do like the LastBlast line, you've got to try the new LastBlast Clump Crusher!
I tried this when it first came out and it was just too big for me. But I'm dying to try the new Clump Crusher so maybe that will bring me back to CG mascara.
@Carleen-It is great isn't it! :)
@Natasha-Totally agreed! Such a great mascara. The no smudging is what really sells me on it! :)
@Cindy-I must try this Clump Crusher!
@Marcia-I hear ya! The big wand does take some getting used to. :)
I always stick to Maybelline in the drug store, but now you made me want to try this one!
