Kerry Washington's Met Ball Look with Neutrogena!

I just adore Kerry Washington. She is gorgeous! Plus, I am a huge Scandal fan. Kerry is a Neutrogena brand ambassador. So, I am always curious to hear about her skincare and beauty breakdowns as I use a lot of Neutrogena products! I just love it when a celebrity look is so accessible with drugstore items.

The Met Ball is the quintessential fashion event. The celebrities all look like works of art in their unique designer outfits and their head-to-toe inspried looks. Kerry Washington's look really stood out!

Here is her complete beauty breakdown:

MAKEUP / Makeup Artist Carola Gonzalez

Carola Gonzalez - My inspiration:

My inspiration  was inspired by the different patches, and textures of the Michael Kors  dress Kerry was wearing for the Met Ball. I gave Kerry a minimal eye with a modern, punk twist and kept the skin and lips to a bare minimum.

How To Breakdown:
In order to achieve Kerry’s healthy glowing complexion, I always start by cleansing her skin with Neutrogena Makeup Remover Cleansing Towelettes in Fragrance Free. I like to begin with clean and fresh skin.  I then proceed to using Neutrogena Hydro Boost dream team for skin and lips.  My first step, Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum to boost hydration, lock in moisture, and nourish skin. This is one of the best primers to use before makeup application because it hydrates while creating a smooth canvas to achieving flawless skin. I then proceed to moisturize the lips with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Lip Treatmentand leave it on until the end, and blot before lipstick application. Once the Hydro Boost Hydrating Serum has absorbed on the skin, I begin makeup application. My first makeup application step is to highlight and conceal imperfections wherever needed with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Hydrating Concealer in Deep, which is the shade that compliments Kerry's skin tone. I apply it under the eye area to conceal any darkness and highlight the area, on the nose bridge, center chin, and center of forehead. To create an even skin tone on Kerry, I used Neutrogena new Hydro Boost Hydrating Tint in Cocoa. This is Neutrogena's new foundation with hyaluronic acid, which provides 24 hour hydration, gives great coverage, it's long lasting, and creates a radiant, healthy complexion without having to use any additional enhancers on the skin. It’s the perfect match to Kerry’s skin tone, and makes her skin glowy and flawless. I apply it all over her face and blend with a round brush in a circular motion for a smoother application. Right after the foundation, I always like to apply the blush on the apples of the cheeks and blend upward towards the temples.  For this look, I gave Kerry a healthy glow by applying Neutrogena Healthy Skin Blends.

I kept the eyes very minimal and simple.  I applied Neutrogena Nourishing Long Wear Eye Shadow + Built-in Primer in Cocoa Mauve (shade #4) all over her eyelid and bottom lash line.  I then lined the top of  her lash line with a thin line using Sisley Paris Eyeliner in Snow. I proceeded to adhering a strip of Ardell Faux Mink 810, to enhance the eye makeup and applied a few coats of Neutrogena Healthy Volume Mascara in Carbon Black to top and bottom lashes and brushed lashes with a brow brush to separate lashes and get rid of any mascara excess.  I accentuated Kerry’s eyebrows with Anastasia’s Brow Wiz in Brunette. I penciled eyebrows in the direction of hair growth using a matching shade to Kerry’s own eyebrow color.

I always finish the look with the lipstick and layered Nars Satin Lip Pencil in Hetloo with Neutrogena Hydro Boost Lip Shine in Berry Brown.

Takisha Sturdivant Drew – My Inspiration:

From the moment I saw Kerry in her Michael Kors dress I felt her hair should be sleek and short with bangs. The dress had a lot of details in it so I wanted to style her hair in a sleek, edgy way. By me keeping the hair short, it complemented the patchwork and collage textiles in the dress in an effortless way.

Step 2: I blow dried her hair with the Remington T|Studio ceramic blow dryer to smooth her strands out easily and leave the hair silky without damaging it.

Step 3: I clipped in TSDHair extensions and razor cut the hair into a messy short bob and then used my scissors to give the bangs that sharp finish.
