I got the "Cool Beauty Blog Award"! :)

Hey there dolls!

Just a quickie post to announce that I was awarded the "Cool Beauty Blog Award" from Rizzie over at Glamadazzle. So, Ya'll head on over and check out her amazing blog! She is a super sweet blogger! :) She also has a super-duper giveaway going on, so check out that link in my side bar. :) Thank you Rizzie!!!

So, the rules with this Cool Beauty Blog Award:

  • Thank the person who gave you this award (check! See above).
  • Share 5 "cool" facts about yourself! (e.g. you love blue lip gloss, you love neon eyeshadow...)
  • Pass on this award to 5 beauty blogs you think are the COOLEST ever, and let them know!

Okay, so....here it goes!

Five "Cool Facts"

  • I'm Trendy. I adore Fashion!!! I am a Fashion Magazine-junky who loves scoping through the pages to finding the coolest new trends...and following them. I try to recreate looks by "Shopping my own closet", but yes...sometimes new purchases are required! ;) So, my style is somewhat of a merge with classic and trendy...I'm an Urban Hipster, lol!
  • While I love being fashionable, I truly am a geek at heart! I made good grades all the way through school and am super-quiet when you first meet me. I am a borderline Sci-Fi/Fantasy Fiction (esp the "vampire" genre...and, um yah, Star Wars!) geek who reads all the time! :)
  • I have a tattoo. I got it a million years ago it seems. It is a tiny blue moon with stars on my right shoulder. No future body art is planned, although I have always wanted to get a Welsh Dragon tattooed somewhere and the Chinese symbol for love and patience. Hmm...
  • I think I look the "coolest" when I have a blunt angled bob. I had this style for years and am contemplating growing out my bangs and going for this edgier look again. I can do edgy, but it looks more "cute with an edge". LOL, I have a bit of a "baby face" so I can only pull off "this much" edge. :)
  • Edgy makeup? Hmm, probably the "coolest" makeup that I go for is in the realm of nail polish. I will pretty much wear any color, but tend to go for the wild colors on the toes. I LOVE glitter polish and love wearing glitter polish on my fingernails! Huge fan of glitter here!!! Other "cool" makeup looks that I go for are purples...purple toned lip colors are my faves lately!
Now here is my list of cool blogs (too see links for other blogs that I love and adore, click some of my previous blog awards on my side bar and it will link you to blogs that I have awarded in the past).

In no particular order (go check out these amazing blogs!!!)

Thanks for reading and stay beautiful!!!

The softest brushes ever!!! Ecotools Brushes (both *new* and "old"): Review

Hello my beauties!

Since I totally love the whole ecotools line of brushes, I was delighted to see some "new" additions to the line! IMHO, ecotools are the softest brushes around (both drugstore and high end) and certainly the best quality that you can get at a drugstore price. Plus, they are environmentally friendly and cruelty free; so, bonus! So, here's a down-n-dirty review of my recent ecotools brush purchases! :) Enjoy!

Ecotools Bamboo Finishing Kabuki:

Might as well start with the newest item! This is such an interesting kabuki!!! I am not sure how long this has been out; but when I first saw it at Walgreen's it literally jumped right into my basket, lol! I just had to give this brush a try! I figure, with an Ecotools purchase, you can't really go wrong.

More photos, comparisons, etc after the jump!

Go Ethereal with Pur Minerals "Heavenly Treasures" Set: Blush/Mineral Powder, eyeshadow, lipgloss, and powder brush (Review)

Hello my dear readers! I am reviewing some lovely items today that I won in the massive Beauty Crazed giveaway in January. If you haven't already, watch my "box opening" here! How much do I love that I won an item shipped from Canada that was actually made in my home city of Atlanta! How funny is that? :)

These items are all from an adorable Heavenly Treasures (Fall 2010) gift set from Pur Minerals. These were all cutely packaged in a burgundy gift bag. This gift set contains a Blush/Mineral Powder Split Pan duo (Perfectly Natural and Pink Marble), a Mini Powder Mineral Makeup Brush, an Perfect Fit Eyeshadow Trio (in Halo), and a Plumping Lipgloss (Enchanted). These items all look really pretty paired with each other. The overall effect is very natural and fresh...somewhat "heavenly"! Yes, you will get a lovely ethereal glow with this set! The shades are so complex and yet so subtle.

I believe this set originally retailed for a combined value price of about $37.While this set was a limited edition, the good news is that you can still purchase most of these items individually on the Pur Minerals website!!!

I am fairly "new" to the Pur Minerals brand, and so far I am very pleased! This Mineral Makeup line's philosophy is for makeup to contain "good for your skin ingredients" or "performance based cosmetics" that are "designed for optimal skin fitness and health". I mean, who doesn't want to try cosmetics that can actually be beneficial for your skin. I know that I do! The company also has a nice environmental stance with an effort to reduce packaging and to produce cruelty free (no animal testing) products. Respect!

For the reviews, more photos, and swatches, please keep reading! :)

Foundation Time! Cover Girl Natureluxe Foundation (review)

Cover Girl Natureluxe Foundation

I am so excited to finally be writing this review for the new Natureluxe Liquid Silk Foundation by Cover Girl. I have been diligently testing this out for the past few weeks and I am finally ready to post a review!!!

My foundation "history":

I must start out by saying that I am just getting back into liquid foundations. For years, I have been using only a very light dusting of powder foundation as I don't need much coverage and don't like the "feel" of heavy makeup. But, with the winter weather, my dry skin has just been too dry to work well with my beloved MAC Studio Fix powder foundation (it has been accentuating dry areas). Thus began my quest to find a great liquid foundation. So far, I really have loved a sample of NARS Sheer Glow. But, I would rather not pay the $ for a high-end (HE) foundation if I could find something nice at the drugstore. Who dosn't want a bargain, right!?!?

What I am looking for in a foundation (This is a tall order, lol!):
  • I need a foundation that works well with dry skin. One that doesn't emphasize dryness or cause flakiness.
  • Sheer coverage. I like my natural skin to show through. I luckily don't have any major skin issues (no acne, no scarring) So, I really don't have much to cover. I just need something to subtly even out the skin tone (you know, those pinker areas by the nose and mouth). I have a problem with dark under eye circles, but I don't expect a foundation to correct that.
  • A light feel. I would ideally like it to feel like I don't have any on. So, I really want a weightless quailty.
  • Suitable for sensitive skin. My skin reacts to so many ingredients with irritation. I need to be particularly selective with foundations with sunscreens as many chemical sunscreens cause a reaction (itchy skin and redness) on my skin.
  • While my pores are not "large" per se, I don't want a foundation that settles into my pores/nor emphasizes pores or fine lines.
Alrighty, now back to the review!!! For my thoughts on this foundation and swatches, please keep reading after the jump.
