Every other Wednesday, the Metro Atlanta Beauty Bloggers will answer a beauty-related question just for fun!
This week's question is...
What makeup items are you more likely to splurge on?
This is an easy question for me! There is a clear frontrunner for the "most likely to splurge" question. While I typically love both high end and drugstore items alike, there is one makeup category in which almost every single product I own is high end.
So, my answer...foundation!!! I am including both powder foundation and liquid within this foundation category as I tend to go high-end on both liquids and powders. I think that great makeup starts with flawless looking skin. Foundation that matches well and is good for your skin type is the key here! Not only do I love many high end foundation formulas, but also I love being able to try them on in the store and get the assistance of a makeup artist or salesperson to help with shade selection. When I find a foundation that works, I tend to repurchase it over and over again. So, I really just don't even end up exploring drugstore foundation often since I already have so many high end formulas that I love and adore. Also, my skin is extremely fair. Many drugstore (and high end) foundations are too dark for my light skin tone. I have better luck with makeup brands with a very wide shade selection.
So, what are my current foundation favorites? Here they are (most of these have been favorites for years!):

I don't wear foundation that much, so I can't really call it my splurge. But I think I've finally discovered my HG foundation with the Smashbox Liquid Halo HD foundation, and though it was sent to me, I KNOW when I run out I'm going to have to buy another (or get a back up before then). I've really wanted to try NARS out too!
It seems we are in agreement about foundation. And when I find one I like, I tend to not go exploring with others. Love your answer!!
@Quinn/Mama Fashionista-That Smashbox sounds nice! :)
@Dionne-Thank you! :)
I couldn't agree with you more! I find that with my fair skin, it can be difficult to find a good, exact match for my skin tone with drugstore foundations. I am obsessed with most Chanel foundations. Love them and totally worth the splurge! I will have to look into some of the ones you suggested!!
I totally agree! Quinn and I actually had a nice Twitter convo a while back about how higher end brands are the only ones who seem to cater to darker and fair skinned beauties. It's so silly!
And you're right.. great makeup does nothing for you if your skin doesn't already look amazing! Love your answer!
I'm right there with you...splurge on foundation!! I've been wanting to try the Urban Decay foundation. Their products seem to always be awesome. Good seeing you the other night! xo
@Simply Stine-Chanel foundations are so nice! Yes, worth the splurge! :)
@Mandy-Yes, it is so silly! I am sure if drugstore foundations had more fair shades available, I would shop in the drugstore much more often for foundations. :)
@AshleyElizabeth-You would love the UD foundation!!! It feels like you arent even wearing any! :)
Love love love the NARS sheer glow. So worth the expense
I've never had a super high end foundation! LORAC sent me a foundation to try and that's the most expensive foundation I've tried! I usually just stick to drug store ones. I guess it depends on skin types as well. I've heard amazing things about Laura Mercier foundations though!!
