As ya'll know, I love following beauty and fashion trends. So, I always get so excited when Pantone announces the upcoming Color of the Year. Pantone has a way of diving deep into the thinking behind fashion, home, and beauty trends to predict with amazing accuracy the upcoming color of the year. I am super excited about the announcement of Living Coral as Color of the Year because beauty-wise I find Coral to be such a wearable and flattering shade!

So, I am super excited to share a couple beautiful make selections so that you can start rocking the Living Coral look right away! :)

Sweet Nectar

Get the gorgeous Living Coral look with Pixi Beauty's Liquid LipLift Max. This product is a volume-maximizing lip treatment within a beautiful gloss. It has a cooling sensation when you apply and it leaves a gorgeous glossy finish. You can wear it on its own or use it as a plumping pre-treatment for lip colour. Also, you can use it as a final step in your lip look for a glossy effect. I love the fresh mint flavor and the beautiful color and glossy effect! I like that it is glossy and smooth without being sticky. Love this color and can't wait to try more shades, too

Plus, Liquid LipLift Max contains peptides to hydrate, firm, and plump your lips. Other key ingredients include aloe (healing), jojoba (moisturizes), and chamomile (to soothe).

Coral Crush

POP Beauty's Prismatic Pop Blushes are ultra light reflecting illuminators that seamlessly blend onto your skin for an ethereal finish; creating a multifaceted, three dimensional, luminous glow. I love these blushes! They give you an amazing pop of color with such a beautiful glow. You can layer these or use on their own for blush + highlighter in one. I just adore blush and especially love peach and coral toned shades. I think these shades flatter a majority of skintones and are the perfect way to add some Living Coral shades to your makeup look!

Pantone Color of The Year 2018: Ultra Violet
Makeup Ideas from Pixi Beauty, POP Beauty, Sally Hansen, and Young Nails

I am so very excited about the Color of the Year for 2018! I find the whole selection process for the annual Color of the Year to be facinating. Color trends are so reflective of our culture, collective thought, and the world today. Not to mention, I am super excited about Ultra Violet as it has always been one of my very favorite colors. I am thrilled that a purple shade is the Color of the Year!!!

Pantone, a provider of professional color language standards and digital solutions, has selected Ultra Violet (dramatically provocative and thoughtful purple shade) as Color of the Year for 2018.

Here are some of the thoughts about the selection of Ultra Violet straight from the experts at Pantone:

“We are living in a time that requires inventiveness and imagination. It is this kind of creative inspiration that is indigenous to PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet, a blue-based purple that takes our awareness and potential to a higher level,” said Leatrice Eiseman, Executive Director of the Pantone Color Institute. “From exploring new technologies and the greater galaxy, to artistic expression and spiritual reflection, intuitive Ultra Violet lights the way to what is yet to come.” Complex and contemplative, Ultra Violet suggests the mysteries of the cosmos, the intrigue of what lies ahead, and the discoveries beyond where we are now. The vast and limitless night sky is symbolic of what is possible and continues to inspire the desire to pursue a world beyond our own.

Enigmatic purples have also long been symbolic of counterculture, unconventionality, and artistic brilliance. Musical icons Prince, David Bowie, and Jimi Hendrix brought shades of Ultra Violet to the forefront of western pop culture as personal expressions of individuality. Nuanced and full of emotion, the depth of PANTONE 18-3838 Ultra Violet symbolizes experimentation and non-conformity, spurring individuals to imagine their unique mark on the world, and push boundaries through creative outlets.'

Historically, there has been a mystical or spiritual quality attached to Ultra Violet. The color is often associated with mindfulness practices, which offer a higher ground to those seeking refuge from today’s over-stimulated world. The use of purple-toned lighting in meditation spaces and other gathering places energizes the communities that gather there and inspire connection.

“The Pantone Color of the Year has come to mean so much more than ‘what’s trending’ in the world of design; it’s truly a reflection of what’s needed in our world today,” added Laurie Pressman, Vice President of the Pantone Color Institute. “As individuals around the world become more fascinated with color and realize its ability to convey deep messages and meanings, designers and brands should feel empowered to use color to inspire and influence. The Color of the Year is one moment in time that provides strategic direction for the world of trend and design, reflecting the Pantone Color Institute’s year-round work doing the same for designers and brands.”

So cool! :) So, now lets talk about Ultra Violet in Beauty:

Ultra Violet in Beauty:

Ultra Violet becomes spell-binding and steeped in spirituality in beauty to create expressive looks for all. The complex and deep nature of the color is well-suited for beauty looks created by combinations, blends, and ombres. A singular matte purple on the lips or nails makes a bold statement of non-conformity, while softly blended metallics and shimmers in Ultra Violet transform the eyes into windows to the cosmos. Purple shades in hair continue to elevate street styles as a symbol of creative expression. On the palette for every beauty medium, Ultra Violet complements and emboldens every other color, adding complexity and mystery.
