Fall Runway Hair Trends 2013: Plus Redken's New Diamond Oil Line Review!

Can you believe that we are already talking about Fall??? Yes, Fall is just around the corner! Redken gears up for the Fall season with a fabulous new Diamond Oil product line (review at the end of this post). Plus, Redken's creative team shares some of their best trend-setting looks from the Fall runways!!!

Fall Hair Trends: Straight from the Runways!

Luxe Factor: Modern Classics with Cinematic Sophistication

Get the Look (from Redken):

• Ready for a grown-up version of a ponytail? The elegant style seen at Loewe fits the bill perfectly. Blow-dry with full frame 07 all-over volumizing mousse, lifting hair at the roots for maximum volume, then shake powder grip 03 mattifying hair powder on the crown section by section. Now backcomb hair with a boar-bristle brush, reapply powder grip 03 and gather hair into a low ponytail.
• 
  The beautiful side braid at Valentino was demure and innocent, yet still seductive. To get the look, blow-dry hair smooth with satinwear 02 prepping blow-dry lotion, create a center part, and comb to one side. Tuck that side behind your ear and braid (not too tightly), then smooth on a few drops of Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine. Add a leather headband to recreate the runway look, then mist on quick dry 18 instant finishing spray.

Up and Away: Elegant Updos with Unexpected touches:
This season's updos are sculptural and modern. So elegant! I especially like the look from Dolce & Gabanna. Very "Game of Thrones"! ;)

• The crowning glory of Milan Fashion Week? The soft, romantic updos that Guido created for Dolce & Gabbana. “It’s a cinematic, womanly kind of beauty,” Guido said. “I took inspiration from the idea of an iconic woman with a natural, Italian allure—think Sophia Loren or the women in the 1960 film La Dolce Vita.” To get the look, blow-dry hair with guts 10 root targeted volume spray foam then spray quick tease 15 backcombing finishing spray on the crown area. Backcomb with a boar-bristle brush to create volume, then pin into a chignon at the nape. (Beautiful with or without a tiara.)

• The look at Nina Ricci? An oversized ballet bun. Guido relied on guts 10 root targeted volume spray foam to create this exaggerated updo, blow-drying with a boar-bristle brush for lift at the roots. After smoothing hair into a high ponytail, he swirled the tail into an oversize bun and pinned in place, then finished the look with fashion work 12 versatile working spray. 
  
  
  

Shine Drenched: Gleaming Shine with Sultry, Caught in the Rain Allure:

After many seasons of matte looks, shine has made a comeback! This new shine has a super wet look and an overall messy/sexy vibe.

When is a caught-in-the-rain look not only completely acceptable, but also completely glamorous? At Prada, of course, where Guido created an undone style with wet-look shine. Start by applying a generous amount of guts 10 root targeted volume spray foam to wet hair, then create a messy side part and comb through. Now apply NEW Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine (hair should still be wet) and air-dry. Pin back one side and mist on control addict 28 high-control hairspray.

At Louis Vuitton, Guido reinvented the classic bob with high-impact shine and a choppy, DIY-inspired fringe. “It’s a little 1950s, inspired by a French girl on the Left Bank in Paris, who might have cut her own hair,” he explained. Models wore wigs on the runway, which Guido trimmed to suit each girl’s face before blow-drying with full frame 07 all-over bodifying mousse. To create the saturated shine, he applied shine flash 02 glistening mist then layered on quick dry 18 instant finishing spray.

Redken's NEW Diamond Oil Line:

What better way to get that "drenched in shine" look than Redken's new Diamond Oil Line! I have often mentioned Redken as my go-to hair care brand. Their All Soft line continues to be my all-time favorite hair line! So, I always get excited when Redken has a new product line. Especially one that is designed for dry and damaged hair (me!!!). Diamond Oil is (as you can imagine from the name) an oil-infused hair care line that restores brilliance and strength to damaged hair.

Damaged hair loses its lustre because of cuticle texture and damaged internal hair structure. Redken's new "Shine Strong Complex" works to penetrate various levels of the hair to maximize shine and strength with apricot, camelina, and coriander oils. This silicone-free, oil-based hair care system works wonders on my dry and damaged hair! In addition to the "Shine Strong Complex", these products are also infused with Redken's "Interlock Protein Network" to add strength to your hair. When I use these products together, my hair is left looking shiny, feeling soft, and it is incredibly manageable and easy-to-style! I am a huge fan of this line!!!

Here is a quickie review and details of the products that I have tried from the NEW Diamond Oil Line by Redken:

• Redken Diamond Oil Shampoo: This gentle shampoo is fabulous for dry and damaged hair. It cleanses gently and leaves hair feeling clean and soft (and not stripped of moisture). This shampoo has a very light scent and a fabulous foam!!! 

• Redken Diamond Oil Conditioner: This rich conditioner is a nice compliment for the shampoo for day-to-day use. If your hair is not that damaged, this conditioner will provide all the conditioning you need. It moisturizes and detangles hair very well. Personally, with my dry/damaged ends, I like to use this conditioner all over with additional Diamond Oil Deep Facets Treatment on the hair ends.

• Redken Diamond Oil Deep Facets Treatment: I am in love with this rich hair treatment!!! Honestly, my hair is so dry from my highlights that I could use this every single time that I wash my hair without it feeling too heavy. This treatment is deeply moisturizing and it leaves my hair feeling like silk! There is no question that my hair looks more healthy after I use this deep conditioning mask. I use it after shampooing and I leave it on for my entire shower so that it can penetrate.

• Redken Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine: Diamond Oil Shatter Proof Shine is a concentrated leave-in oil. It is a combination of synthetic polymers and an olive, jojoba, coconut, and sunflower oil blend. It smooths, coats, and protects the hair from styling damage. It leaves my hair nice and shiny! Plus, despite it being an oil, it does not leave your hair feeling oily! The trick is to use just the smallest amount that you need. The packaging is a glass bottle with a dropper tip. I use about 2-3 drops on damp hair and then style as usual. When my hair is finished, I apply about 2 drops to the ends to finish off my look and to boost shine.

• Redken Diamond Oil Shtterproof Shine Intense: This is Redken's more "intense" version of their Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine. This oil is specially formulated for coarse or distressed hair types. It works to strengthen and protect hair from breakage. I find that both the regular Diamond Oil Shatterproof Shine and the Shatterproof Shine Intense work equally well on my hair. Also, I love how versatile these oils are! You can mix them into your regular conditioners or hair treatments to boost shine and moisture, can use as a scalp treatment, and you can even use on your skin!
