It is time for an update in my "My Skin Loves" series! As many of you know, I am a skincare fanatic! Actually, discovering great skincare is one of the main reasons that I started this blog. With my sensitive and somewhat temperamental skin, I am determined to find the best possible combination of skincare items to keep my skin looking its best.

My latest new love and discovery? Avene's NEW Micellar Lotion Cleanser & Makeup Remover. Yes, I adore it!!!

I jumped on the Micellar Water bandwagon when Bioderma got popular in the USA amongst beauty-lovers and beauty bloggers. After having such a hard time actually finding Bioderma, I switched gears to finding other Micellar waters that are much more readily available in the USA. So, you know that I was thrilled when I found out that one of my favorite skincare lines, Avene, came out with a Micellar water option!

So, what is a Micellar Water anyway? Basically, it is a fabulous all-purpose product: a cleanser, makeup remover, and toner all in one...plus, it is a no rinse formula. So, it couldn't be easier to use: just dampen a cotton round with Micellar water and wipe across skin cleansing, toning, and removing makeup in one step. Does this sound like the unicorn product of skincare? lol, yes!!!  It is based on a micelle principle that protects and releases cleansing agents and softening actives upon contact with skin. Cool, right?!?!

So, how do I use it? I essentially use Micellar Water as a makeup remover. I soak a cotton round and press it over my eye area for a few seconds and then swipe away. The product looks and feels like water, but completely removes my makeup (non-waterproof) and leaves no residue nor irritation behind. It is honestly the BEST makeup remover I have ever used! So gentle and so effective. Plus, you can use this to cleanse your whole face. Normally, I wear very light makeup. So, I mostly use this product to remove eye makeup. However, when I do wear heavier makeup, I use another cotton round to swipe Micellar water over the rest of my face.

How does Avene's Micellar Lotion Cleanser & Makeup Remover compare? I honestly think it is one of my favorite Micellar lotions that I have tried to date (I have tried about 5 or 6). If you are a fan of either Avene or Micellar water/lotion in general, then you absolutely must try this!

The Scoop from Avene:
To prep skin for nighttime creams or treatments, we begin our bedtime beauty ritual with make-up remover followed by a thorough cleansing. With its NEW Micellar Lotion Cleanser and Make-up Remover, Eau Thermale Avène ($20.00 / 6.76 fl. oz., $29.50 / 13.5 fl. oz.) shortens this ritual, delivering effective face, eye and lip make-up removal, toning and in-depth cleansing all in one technologically-advanced, refreshing, no-rinse formula. Avène’s exceptionally gentle no-rinse formula is especially beneficial to skin that is so sensitive that even plain tap water can be irritating.

The technology behind the gentle, multi-tasking cleansing water is based on the micelle principle. The cleansing agent in a micellar lotion organizes into micelles (a small aggregate sphere of molecules) which are released upon contact with skin to eliminate impurities and trap make-up. Even on days when we go make-up free, by the end of the day our skin has been exposed to our skin care products, environmental elements and pollution, all leading to impurities piling up on the surface of our skin within the hydrolipidic film.

Key to the high performance of Avène’s NEW Micellar Lotion Cleanser and Make-up Remover is an extra-gentle multi-functional cleansing agent. This mild surfactant not only immediately solubilizes and draws impurities from skin like a magnet with the very first wipe of a solution-soaked cotton pad, it also preserves and helps to restore the protective hydrolipidic film. With a lipophilic part similar to the fatty acids naturally present in the hydrolipidic film of skin, the cleansing agent provides comfort and emollient benefits as the micellized impurities are transferred from the skin to the cotton pad. The result: all traces of make-up—even waterproof make-up—disappear.

I am on the hunt for a good cleanser! Now that I finished 'take the day off' and I am not a huge fan. Thanks for the post, I am going to try this! :)

Yeah not many people pay attention to cleansers. I think they ought to if they are bothered about their skin!
