Makeup Wars: 2014 Beauty Resolutions!!!

Nothing to Disclose I Bought It Affiliate Link

Can you believe that it is 2014??? I sure can't! 2013 went by in a flash! I am expecting big things and many changes in 2014!!! Looking back, 2013 was the year of the "big move". After 10+ years of living the urban life, we finally made the move out to the outer burbs. What is in store for 2014? A new baby!!! So, as you can imagine, life is going to change. Very soon I will have two little ones to take care of every day. My personal time is going to become much more limited. So, I need to make some critical changes to get the most out of my personal time! Beauty routines need to be streamlined and organization will be essential!

More about Makeup Wars:
For those of you new to "Makeup Wars". Here is a little bit of info to explain it! :) The Makeup Wars Bloggers are a group of top beauty bloggers that publish coordinated bi-weekly posts. The Makeup Wars bloggers collectively pick topics to blog about (e.g., Top 10 Products, Beauty Pampering, etc). We publish our posts at precisely the same time and link up through the graphic links and thumbnails at the bottom of our posts. Be sure to click through the thumbnail links at the bottom of this post to read through everyone's posts! :) I know that I can't wait to read what everyone else's New Years Resolutions are. I might get some more ideas!!!
My 2014 New Year's Beauty Resolutions:
I am going to be all about "keeping it simple" for 2014! So, I am not going to bog myself down with too many beauty resolutions. That would go against the point, right? So, here it goes...my 2014 Beauty Resolutions! :)
  • Streamline my Beauty Routine: If I was to only have one goal, this might be it! As much as I love my beauty routine, I need to shorten it! I do not have the luxury of time when I am getting ready. I am a stay-at-home Mom of a beautiful little toddler and will soon be adding a new baby in January! My beauty routine relaxes me and I enjoy it. However, when I try to take my time, I end up being needed for Mommy duties, and I find that I walk around during the day "half ready"...you know, some makeup on, but maybe my hair isn't dried. Then it is the mad rush to finish before leaving the house at some point during the day. I need to take my cue from my friend Christine over at 15 Minute Beauty Fanatic: She gets ready in 15 minutes and I know she looks fab! :) If I could even get my routine down to 20 minutes, I would be thrilled!!! I have started a few strategies already that help: I only wash my hair every 3 days. If I can eliminate fixing my hair, I can totally get ready faster! So, I think a new hair-do is needed (see goal below). Also, I have started to leave out just a few essential makeup products on top of my vanity. This elminates me digging around in my beauty storage for makeup. I just apply what is out and ready! :) Does anyone else have other tips for getting ready quickly? Please share them!
  • Declutter/Downsize Beauty Products/Beauty Areas and Re-do Beauty Storage Areas:  Now, don't get me wrong, I don't live amongst clutter. I just have too much stuff! I mean, as a beauty blogger, I have fantastic access to products. I love that. However, there is only so much that I can realistically use. I downsized a bit before moving. That helped. Plus, I continue to give away products that I am not using to my family members and girlfriends. My other issue is storage. I am in search of better and more attractive beauty storage. Right now I have things in bathroom drawers, in my closet (in an IKEA Alex as well as a few smaller plastic carts rolling carts with drawers), and in my vanity in the bedroom. So, I am always walking back and forth from my 3 product areas. I have plans to purchase the Pier 1 Hayworth Lingerie Chest within the next few weeks to move my makeup storage so that it is next to my Vanity in my bedroom. That will free up space in my IKEA Alex and I will get rid of all of those plastic drawers in the closet and transfer extra products to that IKEA Alex. Whatever does not fit goes!!!
  • Weekly Nail Care: I will fully admit that I have not been keeping up with my nails very well. I think I have come up with a solution. Rather than going from polish shade to polish shade. I am going to polish weekly. I am going to set a "Sunday Night Polish Date" with myself. When the polish starts to chip/peel (that usually happens on me in 3 days), I will simply remove and apply a clear nail strengthener. Then, when Sunday rolls around, I will do a full manicure. I think this routine will get my nails into great shape and it will elimate me walking around with chipped and peeling polish. I will either have a polished look or a bare look. No in-between days of raggy nails.
  • Change Hair Style: Go Shorter??? This might be more of an aspiration than a goal. While I love my long hair. It does take forever to dry. In order to streamline my Beauty Routine, going shorter might be the answer. In the past, I have gone back and forth between long hair and a shoulder-length bob. However, I have been sporting this long hair for like 8 years now and have grown quite attached to that being my "look". With the arrival of a new baby, I might need to go shorter to get my hair done in a reasonable time. So, I am thinking of going both shorter and blonder.
Now that you have heard my resolutions, I would love to hear yours! What are your beauty goals for 2014? Also, be sure to click on the thumbnails below to check out what my fellow Makeup Wars bloggers resolutions are for 2014. Lets make it a beautiful year!!!

XOXO!!!

Obviously you look amazing now but I'd love to see the shoulder length bob on you! I have a quick face routine but I get what you mean about half ready. I've actually run out of my house with one eye brow done hahaha

Nooooooooooooo! Don't cut your beautiful hair! Just because you have a new baby on the way does not mean you have to cut your hair. Just find fun ways to style it so that you won't go crazy waiting for it to dry. SOCK BUN!! LOL. Just kidding. Going blonder is always good tho!

I need to steal your resolution of downsizing and decluttering. I have too much and need to give more away. Organizing is great, keeping it up is harder.

I'm excited that you might change your hair!

Added note: Operation de-clutter is already happening! I got the Pier 1 Hayworth Lingerie Chest yesterday for my makeup storage. So, I am slowly going through my Alex and tossing items before transferring everything into the Hayworth unit. :)

@Kelly-Cool to know! See, I am trendy and didn't even know it, lol, j/k! ;)

@Brooke/BlushingNoir-Awh! Thanks!!! lol about the one eyebrow! At least I know I am not alone in the "half done" category!

@Elvira-Girl, I know! I am so attached to my long hair...just loathe the dry-time. I certainly must experiment a bit before taking the pludge with a cut. I just don't want to end up in a ponytail everyday. you know?

@Marcia-You are so right. Keeping it up is the challenge. As is organizing to allow for a growing collection.

@Phyrra-You are so fearless with your hair! You need to rub off on me a bit! I am always so whimpy with hair change. But, am excited to do something a bit different. :)

I like the idea of a nail routine. I am all over the place with my nails. Right now they are bare and not in great shape.
