It is time for another installment of my "My Skin Loves" Skincare Series! This is the series where I share all of my latest and greatest skincare finds. I have had many skincare loves lately! I have really just been lucking out with many of the products that I have tried. Since I have quite a few skincare loves. I will try to break them down a few at a time in my next few installments of "My Skin Loves"

My Skin:
Before diving into my reviews, let me give you some background info about my skin. My skin is currently sensitive and combination-oily (with it being primarily oily in the t-zone). Typically my skin is combo-normal. However, I am currently pregnant and my skin gets more oily with pregnancy. Also, my skin has been very prone to breaking out both on my chin area and around my nose. I have large pores. My biggest skin issue is probably my difficulty with my dark under eye circles (due to heredity, allergies, and general lack of sleep). I am in my late 30's. So, I am very interested in fighting fine lines and preventing wrinkles and other signs of aging.

For this installment of "My Skin Loves", I am going to highlight some of my recent favorite finds: Kate Somerville's Oil Free Moisturizer, Shiseido's Ibuki Eye Correcting Cream, Boots Botanics Rosewater Toning Spritz, and Boots Botanics Facial Oil.  I think that every single one of these products are amazing!!! These have all been fabulous additions to my skincare rotation of products.

Moisturizers for Combo Skin???
Finding a good moisturizer for breakout-prone Combination Skin can be tricky! Often you don't think of combo skin "needing" moisturizer...but, it does. Even Combo skin needs hydration to look its best! The trick is to find something that is not too heavy, doesn't break you out, and doesn't leave you feeling greasy.
Kate Somerville's Oil Free Moisturizer:
HG Alert!!! WOW! I have found a new favorite moisturizer!!! Enter Kate Somerville's amazing Oil Free Moisturizer. This is absolutely the best "basic" moisturizer that I have tried recently!!! Even though my skin is combo-oily right now, I do need moisturizer to hydrate and plump my skin.

What do I want in a moisturizer? I want a moisturizer that is gentle, hydrates my skin, sinks in quickly, and does not leave me feeling greasy. This Oil Free Moisturizer from Kate Somerville accomplishes this. I tend to use a lot of treatment products and serums on my skin. So, I do not want a moisturizer that is loaded with treatment ingredients. I just want one that is gentle and hydrates well.

Kate Somerville's Oil Free Moisturizer is the perfect moisturizer for "layering" with other treatment products. I apply this moisturizer after my serums, antioxidants, or skincare treatment products. Actually, I recently mentioned my love of layering Kate Somerville's Oil Free Moisturizer with my current favorite Serum Michael Todd's KNU Serum in my previous "My Skin Loves" Post: Michael Todd's KNU Serum.

This cream is just so gentle! I love how fresh feeling it is. My skin just feels soothed and hydrated after I use it. So, I either use it on its own or after applying serums/treatments. I also really like using it on its own after using any type of intensely exfoliating product like Kate Somerville's ExfoliKate (OMG! I love ExfoliKate!!!) or a microderm product.

The packaging: I must admit, I love the packaging, too. The dispenser is quite unique. This is a moisturizer in a tub with a pump top dispenser. You just press down the top of the tub one time and it releases the perfect amount for your entire face. I would say that the only downside to this type of pump packaging is that it is really hard to tell how much product you have left.

Kate Somerville's Oil Free Moisturizer retails for about $65.

Shiseido Ibuki Eye Correcting Cream:
This is the first product that I have tried from Shiseido's new Ibuki skincare line. Stay tuned as I am going to be trying a few more products from this line soon and I will tell you how I liked them! :)

Shiseido's Ibuki Eye Cream was designed to diminish the appearance of dark circles (I need that!!!), smooth fine lines, and reduce puffiness. This eye cream certainly accomplishes all of these claims. This eye cream has a very light feel to it. It is certainly not a "heavy" eye cream. It is non-greasy and fast absorbing. It literally just sinks right in. It has a creamy appearance and when it soaks in it leaves your skin looking slightly luminous (to detract from those dark circles).

Key Ingredients:
  • The eye cream contains Shiseido's "exclusive inner-derm light-enhancing powder reflects red light to increase vibrancy and counteract darkness creating brighter, more youthful-looking eyes".
  • Phyto Resist Complex: This helps protect your skin from environmental elements
  • Vitamin E and Houttuynia Cordata Extract: To help combat puffiness
  • Lempuyang Extract: To help combat "dull" skin and darkness
Overall, this is a great eye cream! It does not irritate my super sensitive eyes and delicate eye area skin. It absorbs and does not leave you feeling greasy. The eye cream does seem to have a slight impact on my dark circles which is always a plus (however, the effect is rather subtle). Also, I do find that this cream also helps with eye area puffiness.
Boots Rosewater Toning Spritz:
I am such a huge fan of hydrating toners!!! I absolutely always use one every time I wash my face. This Rosweater Toner from Boots is exactly the type of toner that I like to use: it is gentle and lightly hydrating. I am not into "astringent" type toners. I like toners that just give your skin a boost of hydration after cleansing in preparation for your other moisturizers or treatment products.

Have you heard of the powerhouse ingredient Rosehip?
Apparently Rosehip is one of the latest skincare trends! According to Boots, even supermodel Miranda Kerr swears by it. Boots uses organic rosehip that is sustainably sourced from the Andies in Chile. It is packed with Omega 3 and 6 which helps to relieve dryness and boost radiance.

Toning is always my step immediately after cleansing. To use, I just lightly mist about 2-3 pumps worth onto my hands and then pat it into my face. If you like to tone your skin to complete your cleansing, you can pump this toner onto a cotton round and then gently swipe it over your skin to remove your last traces of dirt or makeup. It just makes my skin feel so good when I use this product! Plus, I can certainly see that it helps to hydrate my skin. This product does have a rose scent. While the scent is lovely, I do wish that it was slightly less scented. However, I do still love the product...but, if you are not a fan of rose scents, then you might want to pass on this toner. The best part? This product is a total bargain at Target and 100% organic!!! :) There is no question that I would repurchase this when I run out! :)

Facial Oils??? Oil for your skin? Yes!!!
I am the first to admit that Facial Oils are a new realm for me. I am just now starting to explore them and will admit that, so far, I am hooked! If you missed my last (and only other) oils post, be sure to check it out here: Makeup Wars: Favorite Oils for Hair and Face. Just throw away your per-concieved notions of oil. The idea with facial oils is not to leave your skin looking or feeling greasy, but for your skin to look and feel hydrated. I think that using a facial oil is just yet another way to boost your skin's hydration. For me, a good facial oil is one that sinks in immediately, plumps and hydrates my skin, and leaves my skin feeling soft. Plus, they are so easy to add to your routine!!! I apply facial oils immediately after washing and toning my skin. It is the step *before* moisturizer or serum.
Boots Botanics Facial Oil:
As I mentioned above, I am totally new to facial oils and will fully admit...I am now hooked! After I got past my initial hesitation of adding oil to my skin, I realized that facial oils are so beneficial! What a great way to boost hydration and lock in moisture!!! Plus, I love how easy it is to add oil to a skincare routine. Until now, Facial Oils have primarily been a high-end product. So, I am excited that Boots is offering this fragrant Facial Oil at Target for a very affordable price (only $8.99!). Not to mention, you only need 1-2 drops per use. So, a .84 fl oz bottle should last quite some time! This oil melts right into your skin and "locks in moisture" for hours. I use it after cleansing/toning and before moisturizer and treatment products. I think of facial oils as a "booster" product that supplements my regular moisturizer. I do not tend to use it every night. I seem to use facial oil about every other evening. I love how soft and smooth my skin looks and feels after using this oil.

Overall, I have had some really great additions to my skincare rotation recently! I will continue to enjoy using these products in between other product testing (you know me...a beauty blogger...always trying new things). There is no question that I would purchase these products in the future!
